Is he a bust?He hasn’t gotten better since his rookie year, what is going on with him?

I wouldn’t call him a bust but he’s been a disappointment compared to his rookie season and also he hasn’t got any better since his rookie season. I fell like if he didn’t have that 20, 5, and 5 season then he wouldn’t have had such expectation to be the next D Wade and if he went to a better franchise where he wouldn’t have to be the man, then in my opinion he would be having a similar career as Paul George as in not a superstar but probably an all star. But that’s just my opinion. 🙂

I’m well aware of the holes in Tyreke Evans’ game, but give him time. He had an ankle injury during the pre-season, so he didn’t get to play very much. He’s not close to being in game shape.

I also think he’s trying to find his role with the team. He’s so indecisive out there.

Yea, he has definitely struggled so far this season. I think the reason is a combination of things. First, he is not healthy, and I am sure his ankle is affecting him more than we know. Second, I think mentally he has sort of hit a block. He is coming from a disfunctional organization and does not seem to understand his position or role. I don’t think he will be a bust but hes gotta get his act together. He has the talent and athleticism….

First off the notion that Tyreke Evans hasnt gotten better since his rookie year is a complete misperception. Evans has gotten better but its more of a testament to how.well rounded he was coming into the league as to why you dont notice. Evans only main weakness was his shooting, ball stopping, and defensive intensity and hes.improved in all 3 categories. Last year Evans showed much better ability to pick stop his spots within an offense and his true shooting percentafe skyrocketed.

Tyreke is still a special talent whose a few years away from peaking but already one of the most gifted guards in the league. His problem is.that he keeps gettin hurt but.hes a hard working Philly kid whose as tough as they come. Part of a generation of Philly guards inspired build watching Iversons relentless assault on rims of the league.

Still Reke is an interesting fit on the Pelicans because hed be a great fit starting in the backcourt alongside Boliday or Gordon but how does he fit on the wing alongside both. Hes big enough with a 6’11 wingspan and the build of a linebacker but using that size against guards is what makes him so special. And since Holiday and Gordon are grsat shooters who can play off the ball and out of the 3 Reke has the sickest handle so what type of offense do yoh run. I think theyll figure it out but Reke would of been a much better fit on the Bobcats, Jazz and Magic.

Either way Evans gets healthy his ability to manipulate a defense with his handle is going make the vame easier for Davis. Also a healthy Tyreke Evans can continually collapse a defense by getting into the lane at will and when you supplant that with shooters like Gordon, Holiday and Anderson on the wing and smart hard working athletic bigs like Davis, Smith and Aminu then youre looking at an extremely danverous player.

At the same time I think Evans was a good investment its also hindering Austin Rivers who just needs playing time to hone his explosive scoring game.

He’s a special talent for sure, I think the problem with him is that he got into a team that was messed up, with a bad culture, so on the one hand he got immediately lots of responsabilities, plays, shots, but on the other hand they weren’t able to discipline him and mold his game in order to make it functional for the team. So I think he developed some bad habits and has become a little selfish, but the talent is there. I don’t know if it’s too late for him, probably it is to maximize his potential and make him an all star (which seemed foreseeable after his rookie year), but he’s a able to make a step back he can become a valuable player for a playoff team as a 6th man, leading the second unit with his creativity.

At his college days at Memphis, he played the PG and strived during the season and in the tourney. When Evans first came to Sacramento he played PG and won rookie of the year. Since then Sacramento and now NO have been playing him at SG and SF wihch is not his natural position. I suggest move him back to the PG position and all of his problems will be solved. He also does not match up well against other SG’s and SF’s in the leaguse but is a nightmare match up at PG.

It’s been two games, he’s injured, he’s in a new offense, and playing with new faces.

It takes a while for ball-dominant players like Tyreke Evans to adjust with a whole new scheme and get used to playing other ball dominant players.

Give him 10-15 games, then we can revisit this thread.

He’s not getting a ton of PT, which I think is good. He either needs to go out, work hard and earn minutes or he can continue his fall from relevancy.
