aktripleParticipantInteresting to see him going back to the place where he made history as a rookie, can’t imagine he’d be too thrilled about returning to the franchise he thought he escaped from but imagine if he somehow returned to the same form as his rookie year what a story that’d be

IndianaBasketballParticipantThey’re gonna buy him out & he’s gonna sign with a contender. Maybe he’s LBJ’s playmaker.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantYeah I agree a buy out is coming and he will sign with a contender. Maybe back to cavs or clippers

SwatLakeCityParticipantIts unfortunate that neither Tyreke nor Cousins could get the Kings to the Playoffs. But I think a trade like this was in the works a long time ago and was finally brought to fruition. I believe three years ago the Kings realized that Tyreke and Cousins together were not going to bring the Kings to the Playoffs and they would have to seperate them in order to make the playoffs. They chose to trade Tyreke, and keep the "problem child" Boogie in Sactown. And that was a huge mistake. They finally realized this and are now hoping to correct that by bringing Tyreke back to Sactown and try again.
Unfortunately, I think you guys are right. Tyreke is no longer the player that he was as a rookie because of injuries that have changed the way he played. He is now a role player, that is getting older, and Sacramento may be no place for a playoff run let alone a championship, and Tyreke wants a chance to get one before his time in the NBA is up. Yes, its only been 7-8 years since he was drafted back in 2009, so its seems like its a short career for him, and yes its sad but injuries can have a derailing effect on any player especially if they are injury prone, like I think Tyreke unfortunately is.
But I also beleive that the Kings were not stupid to bring back Tyreke. They ultimately just wanted to disassemble the team and get rid of the main cog that was causing all of these problems that Cousins brought. His problems are not just individually, they have a catastrophic effect on the entire team. So Vlade has to start from the ground up and so you take out the root and build up the team again, and hopefully this time they get it right. Yes they are only 1 and 1/2 games back from 8th place, but I think every year since they traded Tyreke to the Pelicans they have been this close around the All-star and where did it get them before? Nowhere, they never could build on their success, because there was a thorn in their side the whole time. They finally realized this, and knew the only way to fix it was to get rid of the thorn and start over. Hopefully this time they do it right with a lottery pick from the Pelicans.
Many of you may think that that the Pelicans pick will actually be out of the lottery, but that is where you are wrong. The Pelicans aren’t doing well even with Anthony Davis. Yes they need a second star to pair with him, but getting that second star right after the Allstar break is too late for them to make the playoffs this year. They are already too far out of playoff race. Of course they can try but they won’t make it. Instead that 8th seed will go to the Blazers or Nuggets. They have a better shot next year at making the playoffs than they do this year. The Kings know this and that is why they asked for the Pelicans 2017 pick this year top 3 protected. It will become the Kings pick because the top 4 or 5 picks are pretty much already decided, they just may be jumbled around because of lottery results and the end of the season results. Those top 4 or 5 picks belong to the Celtics (from the Nets), the Suns, Lakers, 76ers, and Mavs in no particular order. After that the Wolves and Pelicans follow. But the Pelicans are too far behind the Nuggets and Blazers to make the playoffs. Therefore the Kings will have a pick in the lottery. Their own pick will go to the 76ers because it is protected if it is 11 or lower, but now that the Kings are starting over, they know this pick will no longer be theirs to keep (unless they can somehow regroup quickly and still get very close to making the playoffs without Cousins, do I think its possible? no, but I have seen stranger things happen) But this way they at least have somewhere to start with a pick that is pretty much guaranteed to be in the 5-14 range. Now if the Kings are able to regroup and get very close to making the playoffs, then they have two lottery picks in what is looking to be a very deep draft. From this standpoint the Kings have nothing to lose.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantThe only thing I may change is this:
Pelicans I think are only about 2 games out of 8th spot in the west so could sneak in, especially if Denver move Danilo/Wilson in favor of a youth development/cap saving move( to go big name hunting in F.A). That pick can go any where from 7-15..The biggest kicker/lol is the pick is top3 protected…
You are banking on the lakers getting a top 3 pick-Which I don’t think the NBA will allow three draft dodges(The pick is top 3 protected)..Last year, and D russells year my guess is the lakers get 4-6 pick and have to give that to the 76ers due to them getting the lakers pick via suns steve nash trade…
The Kings get to keep there pick if it is top 10 and the 76ers get to swap picks if theirs is lower than the Kings..
E.G 76ers some how get 6th pick and the Kings get the 4th pick the 76ers can switch and get the 4th pick and the Kings end up with the 6th.. However the Kings have to bank on ending up somwhere between 5-9 as I am guessing the 76ers will be higher in the draft than that and probably won’t switch unless they want to save cap/take a player so lower so they don’t look so bad..
If they end up 11-30 they have to give their pick to the bulls..
At best the Kings get two picks in the 5-15 range and at worst the only have one mid pick in this draft…
There best hope for them is this:
Rudy Opts in they trade him as soon as he can play for another young asset/future pick
Develop SKal L/Buddy hield/WCS and hope like hell that any of them become amazing somehow..
Tank 2018 get top 5 pick.
Play reasonable 2019 as they have traded their pick to 76ers(unprotected SMH)
At worst:
They draft badly,The only end up with one pick this year, Buddy doesn’t turn into anything special and lastly no one wants to play due to management…

HitsterParticipantIf Reke is brought out then a lot of contenders would be looking at him if he takes vet’s minimum. I’d assume it would be a short term loan and then Reke looks at his options in the summer. Clippers and Cavs both spring to mind and there could be any number of other suitors.
A lot would depend on whether Reke decides to try and get somewhere he would be likely to want to remain at or whether he decides, I’ve got this window, I’ve had my buyout lets go all in for a title regardless of how much I’ll play, what happens in the summer.
As regards the draft, the 76ers could be the real winners as they could get the famed Lakers pick and have right to swap with Sac-Town. I wonder if say Sac-Town ended up 7th and Philly 9th whether Philly would swap or wait until 2019 and see what that brings.

MatosParticipantHow about Tyreke somehow making his way to Clipper land if they can keep their core. I’ve always thought the clippers needed a wing. Not saying he’s the savior but I think he definitely helps them.

khaled_a_dParticipantI feel it is kind ironic that he was part of the Cousins trade since I still remember many Kings fan on the web in June 2010 comparing Tyreke & Cousins combo to Kobe/Shaq back in the day,
And while it was silly comparison Cousins was amazing in Kentucky and Tyreke had a historical rookie season, future looked gr8 back then. But it is the Kings so never worked.SMH0 - AuthorPosts
