I am not sure what to think of him yet?  Will he a be solid pro or a bust?  I really do not know much about him… Is he a starter or a bench/rotation type?  Is he better suited to play PF or Center?  Who does he remind you of?

I can see him as a solid rotation player, but I don’t think he’ll ever crack into the starting lineup. I think he’s more of a 4 than a 5, because he’s not strong enough to bang down low. That being said, he needs to develop a more reliable mid-range game and possibly a 3pt shot in order to play the 4. I think he’ll have a lot of work to do to develop his game once he gets to the League, but I think the intrigue is that he’s a smart kid and he’ll be willing to put in the work. There will be absolutely no questions about his dedication, desire, or intelligence from anyone. As for a comparison? No one comes to mind right now.

He reminds me of Chris Mihm, skilled, soft hands, good size, and not overly athletic.  I think Zeller projects as a guy who would probably be on of the best backup C’s in the league someday, but would also be a below average starter.  Kind of like Mihm was before he got hurt.

I think Zeller’s peak is somewhere around 14 ppg 7.5 rpg if he gets starters minutes, if not I think he could be a high productivity backup, who can come off the bench for 7 points and 5 rebounds in 20 minutes.

i think that with his quickness and ability to run the run he can def run the 4, but ideally he should gain weight and play the 5.

i always thought he was a great college player, but i doubted him and the beginning of the season because of his thin frame, but what if he puts on weight? he would be ready to compete and a improved jumpshot away from being complete.

his IQ, length, mobility, and quick hands allows him to play good defense. good at taking charges, and overall somewhat underrated as a defender.

if he puts on the right amount of muscle he can easily end up being the best C, if dru doesn’t explode.  EXTREME soft touch around the rim, he has a textbook hook shot with a high release and doesn’t exactly have to be next to the rim for it to be efficient, meaning that he can shoot it from out to 7ish feet. tho he doesn’t show much ability on the block other than the money hook.

His hands are average, but he is a much, much better defender than he is given credit for. He has a great sense of when to block and when to take a charge. He was easily the best defensive player on UNC the last two seasons. It’s also what the coaches saw which is why he kept winning the defensive awards. He also started blocking a lot more shots late this season for good measure.

He has great lower body strength, but he plays with a high center of gravity and doesn’t have a ton of upperbody strength. So he can hold his position against most, but he can only do so much. I don’t think he’s very long.

Improved passer, I still think he will force it some. He had a lot of trouble reading double teams early in his career. He improved a good bit. Still not where you want your 4 to be as a passer, imo.

Can shoot the mid J. Didn’t shoot much so who know how consistent it is. Very good free throw shooter though.

Can’t go off the dribble. He’s not like Cody Zeller in that sense. Trust me.

Obviously known for being a gazelle(r) running the floor. He has underrated quickness, imo, including a quick first step. Too bad he can’t dribble to take advantage of that because he could be lethal in that sense.

Doesn’t play strong at the rim. Tends to layup everything except his fastbreak dunks (which he gets up very high on). I’ve seen him have some monster dunks from a stand still. Not sure why he chooses to play a little weak.

However, he combats that with a somewhat unorthodox hookshot. Can go left or right, seen him make it from 10ft out, good touch. It’s a low release, but a quick one. Not sure how well it translates in the pros.

Intangibles are fantastic. He has also hit numerous clutch shots in his career including from the free throw line.

Great teammte, great man, has some unique attributes… It depends on if he can find his niche. He’s a starter on a borderline playoffs team. Potentially a very good sixth/seventh man on a championship caliber team.

FYI, he was injured twice in his Carolina career. But it is worth noting that he has never dealt with injuries before those two and he hasn’t had injuries since. One was a freak injuries on a fastbreak dunk. He is NOT injury prone. Not at this point in time.

He is 7feet tall so he will be in the NBA for 10 years or so. Bench player. He is way better then Andris Biedrins but will never be mistaken for a top 12 at the position

Tyler Zellr will be a solid pro and have a long career.  I think he could be a starter if he gets stronger.  He runs the court hard every posession and is well-conditioned.  He is very skilled and is an under-rated defender.

Someone on here made the comparison to Rony Seikaly not too long ago and honestly that is who I think he is best compared to by far if you remeber him with Sherman Douglas back in the day.  I have a feeling he ends up being more athletic than people think and for a senior he has a good amount of potential still.

An underrated athlete who runs the floor well. Needs to continue to get stronger. He has a solid handle which he showed on alot of fast break dunks and when he occasionally drives. He’s very good in the post when making quick decesions not so much when he takes his time or is doubled team. I’ve said this in early posts he reminds me of a poor mans Pau Gasol in the way thye play and their size and frame and their intelligents on and of the court. But he has alot of work if he wants to even get near Gasol level.

to me, as for an active player in the league, i see some Tiago Splitter in him. uses his length and fluid motion over his jumping ability. smart player, seems like the kind that coaches love because he listens to what they tell you. gets his numbers without disrupting his teamates’ mojo on the court. a 4 right now, but could play the 5 by packing in some muscles the way Noah did when he entered the league. wont be an star player, maybe just a spot starter, but could very will be a rotational player wherever he plays.
