DanielcmccartyParticipantThis site seems to be the only mock draft site that doesn’t have Ullis in the first round. Where do you guys think he will fall? My guess, is that if the sixers keep those two later first round picks, Ullis won’t get passed them with them needing a point guard. I could also see a stronger team picking late using him as a backup possibly. I like his game, but like everybody wish he was a bit bigger.

burgessfourParticipantthe Sixers taking a shot on him as well. His speed may allow him to be an effective 1.

Sewok15ParticipantI have had him mocked to the Sixers because they do need a PG but I can understand why they might pass on him. If they bring Ish Smith back their PG situation isn’t nearly as bad as their wings. Ullis is really a lot like Ish Smith already. I think Ullis has a bit more poise perhaps and is a better shooter but he also is a bit smaller and probably not as quick as Ish who is about as quick as they come.
I can’t see Ullis improving on the 15 and 7 assists that Ish brought to the table. I also don’t see Ullis as your PG of the future because his lack of size. He will probably fit in the league as a backup nicely. He would be an upgrade over McConnel or whoever the Sixers would have at backup but I see more pressing needs on the wings.
They could really use two 3 and D wings with those picks and hope at least one of them pans out. Patrick McCaw is somebody they should have their eye one. He is a really good defender and looks like he will be able to make some shots. DeAndre Bembry is another name a lot of people have going in one of those spots. He isn’t as much a shooter as a playmaker but he is a versatile player that would work well on most teams. He led the A-10 in defensive rebounds at 6’6". I think he will possibly go before the Sixers pick but I’d love to see him stay in the city.
As for Ullis he could go as high as 17 if Memphis loves him and some other guys are taken…like if Dejounte would go 15 do Denver which was a rumor I had heard. I really think Baldwin, Murray and Jackson will all go ahead of him. He could fall into the 2nd round depending on teams preference and obvious concerns about his height and probably more importantly weight. I would personally probably even prefter Cat Barber over Ullis although he is more of a scorer…he simply has more size.

Hype MachineI read on the draftnet twitter account that they saw him workout and he was terrible. Probably why they ranked him so low.

OhCanada-ParticipantHe’s a fan favourite but a tad overrated in my opinion. His playmaking skills are great yet his scoring will be limited because of his lack of a three point shot and lack of finishing ability at 5’8 without the explosive ability of Nate Robinson or Isaiah Thomas. His midrange jumper won’t work in the NBA because he won’t be shooting over these guys and his defense will be nonexistent. So I’m gonna bring in a 5’8 point gaurd that can’t stretch the floor or finish inside to run my offense for 15 to 18-mpg. I just don’t see it. I’m higher on Kay Felder.

top prospectParticipantSize and athleticism don’t define NBA success any more. Skills and IQ are more valuable these days. Tyler is a totally different player from Nate, Isaiah, and Kay. TU is a point guard. To be only compared to guys like CP3. Bron and Melo are the same height but they aren’t compared because the impact the game in two different ways. TU will be an outstanding PG in this league.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantDon’t see him being more than DJ Augustin at the next level. Unfortunately, when you’re THAT small, size really does matter.

top prospectParticipantDJ is a shooter with a low IQ. TU is a PG with a respectable J. Size only matters when you have a low IQ or a bad coach (w/ a low IQ).

Jr. ROXASParticipantDJ does not have low IQ c’mon now. If you’ve seen him in his earlier years he was a true PG that could set up an offense well. Now, he’s more of just a role player and because he shoots really well, he’s asked to spot up a lot.

earldaniel31Participantit’s not just about his height.. but he weighed in less than 150 lbs.. i don’t think his body can take a grueling 82 game schedule.. Isaiah Thomas at least had the bulk to withstand the physicality

top prospectParticipantI don’t think so. No one knew he weighed 150 until the combine. For the past 2 seasons at UK his weight wasn’t an issue. IQ trumps measurments. This is why there is so much bad basketball being played in the US. We have fallen in love the the word POTENTIAL.
