 I’m not totally sure on what his NBA chances are but I will say I believe Tyler Ulis will do well at Kentucky and play better than most people think. First off he has dominated almost every top PG this past summer that is why he shot up the rankings and earned MSU and UK offers. He has a head to head battle with Tyus Jones and dropped 22 and 17 while at Peach Jam which is the biggest stage of AAU hoops during the summer. All the players we project to be NBA selections he has gave the business too. Another thing really benefitting him is the emphasis put on calling fouls this year. I think this rule came at the perfect time for someone like him. He is slippery and quick enough now then you factor in that you can’t handcheck him or body him up to much and that is just basically giving him a license to cause havoc. I know people are worried about his size but other then that he has no clear cut weakness in his game. He can do everything a PG is supposed to do at a high level. He is just 5’9 and 140 and that makes people a bit nervous. Cal messed up when he recruited Harrow to UK. A slender kid who didn’t have the mental toughness to play a that school. I don’t think he would do the same thing twice. I think he truly believes  Ulis is capable of handling this. I am not a UK fan either but I just admit to seeing talent when I see it.

As a big UK fan, I’m curious about how well he’ll do.  Calipari has a lot of love for Dominque Hawkins a preferred walkon/scholarship player from up the road in Richmond, KY. He’s Marquis Estill’s cousin, a former good big name for UK.  Hawkins is in the Bledsoe mode: large arms, jacked, modest and plays hellatious defense.

I’m only 50/50 sold on the Harrison twins going pro.  So far neither one of them has been impressive and I think they’ve been exposed by not being able to break down denfenders down off the dribble and get layups.  It’s going to be hard for me to believe that only one of them goes pro (seeing as how they’ve never been more than a day apart) so there might be a log jam at guard next year UK.  I am apprehensive about point guards playing D1 who are smaller than I am, though, so we’ll see how Ullis plays out.

He’s no where near Bledsoe so let’s no go their., but I thought if he went to South Carolina he would’ve been a four year starter with the ability to mess with Kentucky like Devan Downey used to. Hopefully he’ll start more often than locals Jon Hood or Josh Carrier did.
