UC1000ParticipantHaven’t the Golden State Warriors shown that skills not size are more important at the end of the day? He can run a team better than any other point guard in this draft has proven so far. Teams will be sorry if they don’t snatch him up in the first round. Nate Robinson was all athleticism but Ulis has a better skill set. He’ll be the steal of the draft

NJHooper95ParticipantNate was a much better scorer than Ullis. Nate wasn’t just athletic, he could shoot and was extremely strong which helped him on defense despite his height. Ullis is the better follow general by far, but don’t peg Nate as just an athlete because when give the opportunity he could get buckets. I think Ullis is a good collegiate player but I’m just not impressed with his pro potential as others.

TarHeelRavenParticipantIf Ulis was 6-3 or 6-4 he’d be a lottery pick easy, maybe even a top five pick. I hate Kentucky but love Tyler Ulis. He’s tough, can defend, run a team, penetrate and pass. He’s the leader of that team. In my opinion, he’s not a first round pick. I believe he’s a steal as a mid-second round guy.

IlladelphParticipantI think Ulis is a first round talent, and he will be drafted in the first round. He is skilled, hard-nosed, plays hard on both sides, great communicator, excellent scorer. His biggest drawback is size and he will have some difficulty guarding a bigger, stronger, pointguard.
Other than size, I do not see any other glaring weaknesses in his game. He has played unbelievably well, under the brightest lights on college basketball, and he has never folded under the pressure. If anything, he plays better in bigger games.
Those people who say that he is not a first round talent, but that he would be a steal in the second round don’t make sense. I think he will be a late 1st rounder, and I don’t know why he would be a huge steal in the second round verus end of the first round. A few hundred thousand in huaranteed salary? Is that all it takes to be a "steal"? And if he is so great in the top or mid-2nd round, why is not great at the end of the first round? Logic problem there.
Look, he may very well go in the 2nd round, as most of the oflks on nbadraft think he will. But, I think after workouts, interviews, and possibly a deep run in March, that a team will take him in the 1st round. Either way, he is not just a steal in the second round. He is a steal in either round.

OhCanada-ParticipantIf you use a 1st round pick you have to extend a guaranteed contract for I think 4 or 5 years. Second round picks have no guarantee just the rights to own that player so the team would not be committed to the players development. Ulis is a high risk player because of his size and lack of shot. I think he will figure it out and stay in the league but I also think people need to relax with their expectations.

IlladelphParticipantOnly the first 2 years are guaranteed. The next 2 years are team options at rookie scale. The 5th year the player is essentially a restricted FA and the team that drafted him can match any offer. So if a player busts he can be released after 2 years with no financial obligation to the team that drafted him.

OhCanada-ParticipantBut he’s 5’9 and he can’t shoot from college 3. He is quick but does not have elite quickness, athleticism or strength. What role are you going to give to a 5’9 PG that can’t shoot from 3 or finish at the rim.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipant"can’t shoot form college 3". You must never watch Kentucky play if you think he can’t shoot
