I think he can backup a good PF for 11-13 minutes a game. I think it will take him a year or two to understand what he can and can’t do in the NBA

He needs to work on his jumper so he can hit the open shot often. He will play with energy and grab his share of boards off of hustle alone. I don’t see him being a star, but he can turn himself into a solid pro. Tyler shoot, shoot, shoot, all summer.

I agree. He is not gonna be Hansbrough of college. He hustle really well but hes kinda small and doesnt have the ability to beat players bigger and taller than him in the NBA

he is not going to be anywhere near what he was in college. not saying that he cant play in the nba but just not to the level he was at college. kevin love is a few inches taller and can rebound really well unlike hansbrough. what he does have is alot of heart and hustle and the nba needs more guys like him.

Lacks size, athleticism, wingspan, game, post moves, his shot is overrated (he hits WIDE OPEN looks-beyond open looks), footwork, lateral quickness, & most importantly he struggled when playing against bigger players

I can’t think of one thing Tyler does better then Love. I can see Tylar being a late first round pick, but he is not much better as a senior then he was as a sophomore. He will hustle and give toughness, but he is essentially Mark Madsen version 2.0.

After the first 15-20 players in the draft, a smart GM [that’s a rarity in the NBA] knows there are no more game changers, so he will look for a solid role player. Every championship team succeeds because they have guys coming off the bench who play defense, rebound, and occasionally score. Therefore, I think Hansbrough will be worth his weight in gold for those teams drafting late in the first round.

Ask any NBA coach if he wants a guy who will give 100% every night, rebound, play defense, and the answer will be an unequivocal yes. Hansbrough can do all of the above, but unlike other role players discussed in this thread, the guy is actually a potent threat on offense. No, he will not be a star in the NBA and he will not average 20 points per game. But remember, the guy was double and triple teamed every night at NC. In the NBA, he will be going one on one for the first time in years.

I think he can give you 18-20 minutes of solid play on both ends of the court, the kind of contribution coaches appreciate. I mentioned this comparison in another thread, but the one player he reminds me of his Leon Powe. No, they don’t play the same way, but I think their contribution as role players will be very similar.

He is Mark Madsen…more athletic with a better offensive game, but not by much on the NBA level. He will have a similar career, he might win a championship and do that goofy dance Madsen did too lol

I just saw Larry Bird’s press conference about the draft. He said that he really likes 4 players. He also said he prefers experienced guys over potential.

Here’s the kicker though. At the very end of the press conference he was asked about experience vs. potential. He said and I quote, “If I have the chance to take a 3 or 4 year player I will!”

Now, they clearly need a PG or a Big-man. Of the guys they worked out, Eric Maynor, Ty Lawson, James Johnson and Tyler Hansbrough have the most experience.

I’m willing to bet those are the 4 guys he is looking at drafting. In other words, they are passing on DeJuan Blair. It’s just a hunch on my part, but I’m confident I figured out his 4 guys. My guess it’s Tyler Hansbrough or Eric Maynor.

Why do some guys insist upon racial stereotyping which is comparing white players only to white guys and black players to other black guys? This Hansbrough – Madsen comparison is absurd. Let me guess, the next guy you’re going to compare him with is Brian Scalabrine.

Mark Madsen is a stiff who has no offense period. He was never double teamed at any point in his career. In fact, most teams will leave him wide open because he can’t score at all. I’m amazed he even had an NBA career.

Tyler Hansbrough was double teamed just about every game four years straight at North Carolina. He was the NCAA player of the year on a championship caliber team and the guy every other team had to stop. Will be be an all star in the NBA? No, but he’s light years ahead of Mark Madsen and should become a very valuable role player.

He’s a guy you can draft and know he will become a valuable role player and a guy who will bring a team first attitude.

I also see some similarities with both L. Scola and C. Landry @ Houston. But Mark Madsen? Please, give it up.
