The only two known trade partners for the Kings and the #5 pick so far are the Detroit Pistons and the Utah Jazz. Here are the two most realistic trades that I could come up with the works under the salary cap and that both teams would agree to. Here they are:

Detroit trades Tayshaun Prince and the #7 pick(Greg Monroe) to the Kings for Andres Nocioni, Donte Greene, and the #5 pick(DeMarcus Cousins).

Utah trades Mehmet Okur and the 9th pick(Gordon Hayward) to the Kings for Andres Nocioni and the #5 pick(DeMarcus Cousins).

With the first trade Sacramento gets the small forward they need and the #7 draft pick. The Pistons trade up a couple spots to get the guy that they want.

With the second trade Sacramento gets a servicable center and the guy they want at #5, but he would be too much of a reach at #5 so they trade and get him at #9. Utah gets a young replacement for Okur and a servicable small forward.

Both trades are win-win situations. What are your thoughts?

The Jazz don’t want Cousins. They draft good character people ONLY. If the Jazz kept the ninth pick, and Cousins fell to them in the draft, they still wouldn’t pick him. The Jazz want no part of Cousins.

Cousins isn’t exactly a Jerry Sloan kind of player. And Okur’s an equally bad fit in Sacramento. He’s basically an older version of Spencer Hawes — jump-shooting big man, decent rebounder, average (at best) post defender. For that matter, Okur isn’t that different from Brad Miller, who the Kings already got rid of.

The first trade is solid, though. Cousins would be a great pick for Detroit, and Prince would bring championship experience to a young Kings team.

For the King’s franchise, any one of these trades would be a complete disaster. Over the last few years, the kings have been wanting to rebuild through their draft picks. By doing any one of these trade, it would put them in the opposite direction.

First off, if you have even seen the kings depth chart ever, you can see that the kings have NO NEED for a 3/SF at all. With Donte Greene and Omri Casspi at the SF position, they have no immediate need for change and can focus on bigger and better things like the 5 (Spencer is not Hawesome).

Having a GM like Geoff Petrie who is known to make great picks in the draft (and for screwing up with free agency and trades [Ron Artest for Donte Greene? Chris Webber for Kenny Thomas? Mike Bibby for Shelden Williams?] ) will not trade away the pick that is supposed to revitalize their franchise.

As a Kings fan I hate both deals for the Kings. If there were some way to guarantee they get Monroe with #7, maybe – but obviously GS is a pretty big threat to take him. Then what do they do? Aldrich? Pass.

Just draft Cousins and whatever SG or combo guard they can get at 33 (crossing fingers for Crawford). It’s not like they’re contending this year no matter what they do – this allows Caspi and Greene to continue to play and develop (and team gets to see what they’ve got in both), and you get a quality (hopefully) center in either Cousins (hopefully) or Monroe (nice consolation).

Kings have too much of a high interest in Cousins to trade with any team, he had a tremendous workout for them, probably the best and he would excel well in their halfcourt style offense. He would play with a good ball handler in Tyreke Evans (can’t really establish whether hes a PG or a Dwayne Wade type player who is ball dominant) and if they draft Cousins they have a very young promising team to work with, I just cannot see this happening.

The kings should just chill and take BPA. They have a great young core and will be able to get one of Johnson, Favors, or Cuz at 5 so no need to do some dumb trade.

It seems more and more clear now that cousins will be available at 5. He really impressed in his workout and I’m sure the kings like his ability as he surprised people with his range and consistency. I also believe both trades would be terrible. I do believe we need to add a veteran sf to help the maturation process of our young wing players but losing out on the opportunity to draft cousins, someone who has the potential to be one of the best bigs of the decade if he pans out obviously and then we have the 1-2 punch necessary and hopefully down the line omri casspi will become the 3 to a potential big 3.

I’m salivating in my bed thinking about all of the positives that can happpen to our kings but stupid suggestions like these for players they personally want is killing me we won’t trade cousins if we get him are u crazy? The only worries is if the Nets or Twolves play spoiler and F us over by picking him… Hope the young guys develop soon and keep improving

Ok kings fans how about this trade? Utah can give you a veteran wing to help develop Casspi and Greene. And I know your team can take on his salary. How about AK and the 9th pick for Nocioni, Garcia, and the 5th pick. With this trade you can get a veteran wing still keep your young 3’s to further develop them and you have a chance to draft Aldrich who could really help your team down low. Aldrich is a sure fire player that will play hard and well, just as long as you are not looking for a mobile Center. He is not a head case, so you wont have to worry about him being a bust nor will the locker room attitude go down, like it would with Cousins. This pick would also help the Jazz too, it would rid of AK’s salary maybe even help us resign Booz, and it would also give us the ideal replacement we need incase Booz does leave.

You get a Defensive Center on a 1 year deal…12 million $$$ and a Starting Caliber SF that comes at a rookie scale deal…We Get the 5th Pick…You get 2 Starters…1 long term hybrid forward and 1 rental who at worst will be your defensive stopper…he’s playing for his next deal….you might get a Brendan Haywood type of season out of Sammy…10/10 and 3 blks per…not to bad with Thad adding 15ppg at least…
