Mikhail Prokhov has stated in this video he wants immediate results and success. He also states that he wants to build an International franchise and have fans everywhere in the world.

What way would be better than aquiring one of the most Talented European players ever to wear an NBA jersey.I also believe that Mikhail Prohkov would be able to give Turk a real good pep talk and light a fire under his ass.

New Jersey needs a number one option to go with Lopez, Harris there young wing players and potentially Favors. They need a SF and they dont have very many International players. They also need a leader and thats what Hedo was dying to be in Toronto. An appreciated European in a Onternational friendly home, a number 1 option and a team leader.

Maybe they give up Yi and the 26th or 31st pick.

Turkoglu for Yi and the late 1st round pick is a solid deal IMO…But I suck at thinkig of trades so I could very well on my own

Definately a steal for the Nets,
I could see the Raptors doing the deal if the Nets added another future draft pick.
Maybe Toronto rebuilds if Bosh leaves and Turkoglu is gone they would have cap room.

i think new jersey needs to do what oklahoma city did-add young pieces and ignore the tempting but damaging ones (charlie villanueva last year, detroit just couldnt resist)

I agree with TaylorCondrin > you want a good vet presence to mentor the young kids. NJN has some great youth there: Brook Lopez is going to be a top 5 center (if not already), Terrence Williams WILL be a stud, mark my words; Devin Harris will improve (if they get Avery Johnson, I hope AJ will make him a better point guard); Courtney Lee has nowhere to go but up, kid is a freak and his jumper is only going to get better. Assuming they draft Favors, they get their 4 man. All they really need is a legit 3 (while T-Will can play this spot, I would rather see him come off the bench and fill whatever need at 1 thru 3).

Adding Hedo may hinder everyone’s development. He’s not entirely effective off the ball (yeah he can stand in the corner and wait for a kick out), but you don’t necessarily want to add someone who’s so ball-heavy. Also, does he have the intangible of making everyone around him better, to me: no.

This is the dumbest thing i have ever heard.

Come on dude, do you really think the Nets want Turkoglu’s horrid contract for the next 4 years? Oh and then on top of it you want to give the Raptors a 1st round pick?????

HAAAHAAHAA Do you honestly think the Nets shaved all this salary space the last 2+ years to trade for Hedo Turkoglu!? Genius idea! Not only would this blow any possibility of the Nets signing a free agent this year it would likely blow their cap space for the next 4 years unless they want to let Brook Lopez and Terrence Williams walk after their rookie contracts since they wouldn’t have enough cap space to resign them because they traded for Hedo Turkoglu. Brilliant.

Yi Jianlian is off the books after this season so you are also basically giving the Raptors a free mistake eraser for signing a has-been to a 53+ million dollar deal.

And also, what a great way to get more international… Yes! Brilliant! The Nets would get more international by trading away China’s second most famous NBA star Yi Jianlian for a washed up 31 year old Turkish guy who’s best days were with the Kings 5+ years ago.

Also, Turkoglu cannot play SF in this league anymore. He is not fast enough. Wherever he ends up after coming to an agreement with the Raptors to be waived (at a certain price–probably near 15million on top of the 10 million he got last season for doing nothing) Turkoglo will be playing as a stretch POWER FORWARD.

However, you inadvertently had almost made sense. See, if the Nets traded their starting power forward Yi Jianlian, then they would need a power forward not a small forward. So you are perhaps onto something… if Turkoglu was 5 years younger and cost about 20 million dollars less. But I guess you didn’t think that far ahead.

I hate NBAdraft sometimes. I mean honestly… There should be an IQ test or age limit; something!

GCB your clueless if he’s cut then they’ll sign him for a lot less money.
He’s 31 not 35 and the trade or signing would be after the free agents.
Contrary to ppl dreaming the Nets aren’t landing Lebron or Wade.
Fee free to max out Carlos Boozer though and see which contract you regret when he gets hurt again.

    Yes, I am clueless. Riiiiight.

My whole point was about money and how illogical that trade would be.

If he is waived then there is no trade. Yes the nets could take on a much cheaper Hedo if he is a FA.

But the post was about trading for Hedo. Two totally different things.

Thank you for your input, have a nice day.

Read the Bill Simmons article below talking about Prokhorov NYK. It may enlighten you about your neighboring team and what they are looking for. But before you read it. Let me remind you, the owner is the 37th richest man on planet Earth. He is a force beyond the 12 games the Nets won this past year. No superstar free agent is dumb enough to turn the Nets down without even considering them. Read this (from last nights Celtics pregame chat wrap):

    [Comment From Friday May 28, 2010 7:10 Mike: ]
How come the Nets are always an afterthought regarding free agency? Last I checked they still have Rod Thorn who made a finals team with Bruce Ratner’s closed wallet. Now they have the 37th wealthiest man on Earth. If I were Lebron I would rather play for a team with a good center like Lopez especially if the owner was Prokharov. I mean, dude, who wouldn’t want to make friends with someone of his wealth? No longer can the Nets be placed 4th or 5th on the FA list of destinations. Agree?

7:11 Zach Harper (Hardwood Paroxysm/TrueHoop Network):
I think it’s because they won 12 games last year. Hard for people to take them seriously. Personally, I agree with you. Great situation for FAs, especially with the eventual move to Brooklyn.

Someone on this site turned me onto this Bill Simmons’ article. Read it.

    Bill Simmons Writes:

Prokhorov on the NBA salary cap: “You could have all the money in the world, but you have to be smart enough knowing how to spend it. I really try to be on that smart money side. Once you make a serious mistake you can suffer five or six years, and I do my best to avoid serious mistakes.”

(Translation: Sorry, Amar’e, Rudy, Joe and Carlos — you won’t be getting a max contract from me this summer. Sorry, Philadelphia, you’re not talking me into trading for Elton. And sorry, Washington, I won’t be taking Gilbert off your hands.)

Prokhorov on patience: “My goal is to create a dynasty team, and I’m not in a hurry. We have second year with more free agents coming.”

(Translation: Hey, Carmelo! Let’s get some drinks!)

Prokhorov on succeeding in business: “I’ve never lost my cool. Even in love affairs. If you have Plan B and Plan C, you are all the time relaxed.”

(Translation: I won’t be &$#%#&@! about the officials constantly like Cuban does.)

Prokhorov on hiring a big-name coach like Mike Krzyzewski: “Coach K is a great coach. But I’m looking for an NBA coach.”

(Translation: Even though I don’t use the Internet, I somehow found out about that disastrous stretch in the late-’90s when everyone overpaid for college coaches and they all sucked.)

Prokhorov on his vision for the Nets: “[We’ll] be the first really global team in the NBA. For me, being the first foreign owner, I want to do my best to invite all the fans for the team all over the world. I think the NBA is worldwide. But other teams [possess a] more local mentality. We are going to create and to build a global franchise to sell all around the world. I think I have a competitive advantage compared to other owners.”

(Translation: The other owners want to be local coffee shops. I want to be Starbucks. They will lose. I must break them.)

did you watch the playoffs last year? his best days were not with the kings

Yes, and I still think his best day were with the Kings. He had a few good games with the Magic but he was on the decline since mid 2008. It is now 2010. And this “Nets trade” nonsense idea would put him at 6 years past his prime at the end of his contract.

He is not nearly as good an asset today (or in last years playoffs) as he was with the Kings. Sorry.

Yeah they’ll consider the Nets but that doesn’t mean they’ll sign with them.
Carmello is discussing an extension with the Nuggets so if he resigns that will make the 2011 free agent summer much weaker.
Playing with Brook Lopez and eventually Brooklyn is their big selling pt. but ppl overrate Lopez he’s not Shaq or Duncan when they were younger.
I can see the Nets landing a free agent whether its David Lee, Carlos Boozer just not Lebron or Wade, thats not a knock on them. Also I think not having the 2nd pick in the draft hurts them Evan Turner could be a superstar.
Rod Thorn is an excellent GM but it was never mentioned that he failed to add a big man to get them over the top. He’s skilled at making deals that benefit his team like Courtney Lee or trading draft picks for RJ. They have a rich, smart owner but he’s not saying anything that we don’t already know about the cap and a slick GM but who’s their next coach Mike Brown?
All of a sudden Mikhail Prokhov is the next George Steinbrenner now give me a break.
He made a few pts about the cap and business nothing most ppl don’t already know.
The Nets have cap room for 1 big name free agent and they have to pay their draft picks still.

You are indeed a die hard Toronto fan, lol. I live in TO, I know how badly we want to get rid of Turkoglu (I would too) and I also know he wants out too. But, I think you are dreaming if you think the Nets are going to take Turkoglu. I do not think he is exactly what they need, he would be better than what they had, but I do not think Prokhorov is willing to take away his teams most likely incredibly favorable cap situation this year, or the next. I too am looking for a team that might take Turkoglu, but it is very hard. It just turns out, the Raps really screwed up, and we are going to have to really need a miracle to trade his deal. I do not think that Prokhorov could light a fire under his ass, owners rarely do that. I think the Nets would be really screwing their team up if they took Turkoglu, and as much as I would not care, I think they finally do.

gcb3 I couldn’t agree more with your post. This is such a dumb trade idea and the op is stupid, Yi(China), Hedo(Turkey)= both international. This trade wouldn’t help the Nets that much Hedo is not much better than CDR at this point of his career. Notice that the fan you were arguing with had a Lehype in a Knicks uniform on, coincidence? He knows that the Mavs and the Nets are the biggest competition against the Knicks for the battle of Lehype.
