Assuming that the season starts on time who do you guys think can lead the league in triple doubles…with kevin durant improved ball handling and harden possibly being exerted into the starting line up i think hes a canidate to lead the league or possibly even russell westbrook. I dont see lebron doing it with dwade there and chris bosh will probably step his rebounding up. A darkhorse canidat for me would be John wall…with the added weapon of vessely an improved jumper and a full healthy season he has a chance to lead the league. what are your thoughts?

Why don’t you see LeBron doing it with Miami when he led the league last season?

I think LeBron will lead the league in triple doubles again next season… Say what you want about him, but he’s a walking triple double. He picks up triple doubles in games he doesn’t really play all that well in.

Reke DMC will be in the top 5, guaranteed.

Iggy is also a candidate, but I see Holiday taking over even more of the point guard role.

I can’t look beyond LeBron, he’s 7th on the all-time list of triple-doubles. Indybasketball is correct, LeBron can have games where he wouldn’t play that well and still get a triple-double.

Rondo, Paul and Westbrook are the most serious challengers to LeBron.

Not many players are in the same realm of possibly leading in triple doubles as LBJ.  Dudes 6’8" at a minimum, gets to run the point and handle the ball at many times throughout the game, is strong and very athletic so he’s gonna be getting the boards, and he’s damn near a guarantee for those 10 points each game.  If you don’t put him in the lead as far as projecting who leads the league in triple doubles you either are…

    1.  A Hater

    2.  Trying to be too creative

    3.  Blind

    4.  Cite bleacher report on the reg

    5.  A fan of another candidate who is the next closest realm of possibly being the triple double leader

    6.  Misunderstand what a tripe double is

    7.  Want to start a fire on nbadraft.net

    8.  Are attempting to be the leader of negative points on nbadraft.net

    9.  Secretly are Skip Bayless…see #1

    10.  Know something other’s don’t regarding an assassination attempt.

Actually I can’t stand LBJ, im far from a dickrider.

I’m just sane enough to the point where I can admit LBJ by far has the greatest chance of leading the league in triple doubles.

Let’s be objective. Lebron had 4 triple doubles in 82 games. And 4 people came in second with 3 and all played less minutes then him and certainly had less free reign to say that anyone who thinks someone can challenge him is a “hater” is dumb. He’s very good maybe the beat in the world but he plays on a loaded team and averaged one triple double every 20 or so games so to say he’s a walking trie double is retarded lol. Provided he can possibly give you one on any given night. Use your brains not your hearts Kenton lovers lol.

i never said you had to be a hater.  I said that you have to consider him to have or have amongst the greatest chance.  If you don’t think he is one of the odds on favorites to have the most triple doubles you could be any of the other 9 i listed.

kevin durant is not much of an option. He has averaged less then 3 assists per game each of the last 3 seasons despite playing 39 minutes a game each year. He isnt that kind of player.

Lebron is the obvious choice and i do think wall, rondo  and westrbook can all make a nice run at it.

Iggy, J.Smith,Westbrook,Wall, and maybe even Odom if he is put back into a primary facilitator role. He used to actually do pretty well actually garnering the name "Mr. NEAR 3×2" as he would always come super close almost every night to a triple double always coming up just shy of the triple by a point rebound or assist. Personally, I have Rondo at the top of the list behind LBJ in potential then probably Iggy in 3rd, Wall and Westbrook tied 4 an 5.

Imagine if Nash had the stength of Kidd and maybe 3 or 4 more inches.  hed be a walking triple double lol.  But for real, I would have to say Lebron has the best chance followed by Tyreke, Jason Kidd, John Wall, Maybe even Dwade

I don’t think Lebron would have to run away with it, but it’s hard not to stack the odds in his favor. Especially when you consider that whole team now has a year under their belt and coming off a disappointing loss. That is just adding more motivation and more familiarity with teammates to a guy that has his size and ability. If anything the coaches and players find a better way to use Lebron. Don’t get me wrong. Guys like Rondo and Westbrook are relentless. Lebron can do what they do at 6’8" 260+ lbs and even though he doesn’t play much around the block, he’s typically in better position to get rebounds than a pg would be. It’s not about hating or loving Lebron, this is just basketball and how the game plays out.

As for some of the others mentioned:

Griffin can get a few, but blocks are going to be hard for him and he’s not neccessarily a guy that is going to be getting tons of opportunities to make plays for others even though he can.

Wall has the size and ability, but his biggest thing holding him back is probably lack of quality around him.

Rondo, sometimes won’t shoot and rebounds are not a given even though he does it at a high level.

Westbrook, likely would see a decrease in assists if Harden becomes starter as he would take over some play making in the first unit.

Somebody mentioned his name already, but I definitely wouldn’t count out Blake Griffin. I’m not looking at stats, but he was very close to having four or five last season.

We know the double double is there damn near automatically. He’s a very good and unselfish passer, and will see a ton of double teams. He makes the right play most of the time.

I forgot about Blake, I actually think he’s going to surprise everyone. IMO, his passing ability is part of the reason for DeAndre’s growth. Having E.G. there all year will get him a few assists off of kick-out’s to Gordon and Mo. He actually renminds me of LBJ in the way he can find open cutters and shooters for easy opportunities.
