RUDEBOY_ParticipantAlot of people say Thompkins lacks a motor and is too laid back..His game is similar to David West and West is a 2 time all star…Thompkins has a nice face up game and can step out to hit the 3…But isnt that explosive..He could go anywhere from 8 to 20…
Thompson is quickly shooting up the draft boards..He reminds me of Ed Davis..He’s a great finisher around the basket,a good shot blocker, good rebounder and runs the floor well…But need to polish his post moves..He might go in the 10 to 15 range…Could be a top 5 pick next year,if he works on his offensive game…

OhCanada-ParticipantI dont think you can say Thompkins lacks a motor and then compare him to David West that is not fair to West at all who we tend to forget is a former Allstar and probally a yearly consideration for Allstar positions if not for such great depth at PF. If Thompkins can develop to be as good as David West using a Top 10 pick to acquire him would be a bargain. West has better skills and athletisism imo but not nearly the defensive skills Thompkins has.
As for Thompson Ed Davis is a nice comparison except I think Tristan has more offensive upside, better all around athletisism, and better ball handling skills. With some polish on the offensive side of the floor he could really become a problem. The thng I like about him the most is his work ethic and winners mentality. Thompson will definitely improve and adapt to any situation he is in, remember in highschool he was talking about developing as a SF back when he was 6’8 215. Im glad to see him finally get some respect thou, and it seems people are realizing hes more then a one trick pony.

delfamParticipantI like Thompson I just don’t get the love for him, he has no post moves and has no right hand, he goes left everytime and for a defender it’s so easy to stop. If you haven’t developed a right hand by now I question his ability to improve, he has to realize that’s an issue, but in games he rarely ever uses it.

B FreeParticipantThopson is more of Tyrus Thomas 6’9 225 type who can run jump and block shots and that is it as of now. I couldn’t believe Tyrus was so loved after his game was identical to Stromile Swift and he failed. He will probably be a lotterly pick.
Trey is a player I really like he is offensively more like a David West Alldridge mix who has a sweet turnaround J. I do think he is bigger then West at 6’9.5 and 245 and has shown some decent and improved defense in the post. The team that takes him in the late lottery will get an instant starter and contributor on offense.

JNixonParticipantI like Thompkins better. He’s not as athletic as Thompson, but he’s a much better talent offensively and even though he’s not the best defender he has had some performances over the past 3 years where he has done a good job against some NBA prospects (Terrence Jones at Stegman Coliseum is the most recent).
Thompson is very similar to Ed Davis I think too, I think he can be a solid NBA player if he gets a left hand and adds polish to his arsenal down low, but Thompkins has a David West type feel to him. He’s a good mid-range player, he can score down low, and he has the ability to make good passes in the high or low post like West does. He’s not the bulldog West is, but in terms of how they play they are very similar. Thompkins will have to continue to polish his game in the NBA and improve on the glass, where he’s pretty good but not dominant (because he’s not that tough and he’s an average athlete) but he’ll be ahead of the curve offensively for a rookie PF when he’s in the league.
