FastAndFuriousParticipantI have to bring it up….
I remember guys on here really overhyping Trey Burke saying he had all-star potential, next Cp3, etc
2 years in and we clearly can see that is not going to happen, as many other’s also said, dude is wayyyy to small and not even close to being athletic enough to make up for his small size, like I said before he got drafted……DJ AUGUSTIN all over again.

RUDEBOY_Participantso far he’s proven he can be productive as a starter in this league..as a rookie he had 12 games with 20 or more pts and handed out 10 or more asts seven times..but anyone that saw him play in college ,could tell he wouldnt be a franchise type pg….
with the jazz he’s displayed the same competitiveness & ability to produce in the clutch like he did in college…that game winning shot the other day against the knicks reminded me of that huge shot he made in the tournament……
last year he shot 38% fg,during the preseason it seemed like he had gotten better becuz he improved it to 46%..but in 12 games it seems to have regressed to 34%…….

FastAndFuriousParticipantNah, there were tons of people who watched him in college, saying outlandish things, like he’d be CP3 like,all-star game apperances, one of the best PG’s in the league for years to come, and knowledgable posters as well

ballislyfe25ParticipantI don’t recall people hyping him up that much and he wasn’t drafted particularly high, in a weak draft nonetheless.
Let’s give the guy some time to develop. He was an exception college player, showing quickness, shooting, leadership, and a high IQ, and he’s only played 82 games in his NBA career…

ballislyfe25ParticipantYeah but I’ve actually been on the site and checking the boards for years. With a few exceptions, most people on here seem to get it right/see the game for what it is. I’m surprised Burke got that much hype because it’s obvious he is nowhere near Chris Paul’s level, even comparing both as college players.

apb540ParticipantI remember the Burke hype but in defense of the Burke-lovers, he was coming off a great performance in the NCAA tourney plus he didn’t have any other true PG competition in the draft outside of MCW. Whatever, I was an MCW fan so I’m just glad to see him and Wroten holding it down for my hometown Sixers!

Hector_Reyes_8ParticipantI thought Burke had CP3 potential.. In reality that was just me hating on the Clippers.
Even though Burke’s stats have been less than spectacular, the Jazz began winning with him on the court… It’s weird, but Jalen Rose was right. The Jazz, with Burke, are a decent NBA team. Not playoff caliber, yet, but good enough to give any team in the league a good enough game where it won’t be a blowout. Burke’s stats don’t show how valuable he is to winning.

Mysterion110ParticipantI’m new to the site but I doubt anyone said TB had CP3 potential and would be the best PG in the game. I do, however, still believe he could be a good starter for a long time. He’s still only 21. Althought he’s not really athletic in terms of his vertical, he’s exceptionally quick. He’s really good in the pick and roll, has good vision, and is a very good shooter. And let’s not forget that badass attitude. With experience his FG% will rise. Don’t count him out yet. He has a bright future.

ChoppyParticipantI don’t remember any CP3 comparisons but I do remember most posters saying he had multiple all star potential. I also remember the pistons message boards going into meltdown because they drafted KCP over Burke. I said at the time that I actually preferred KCP over Burke and would be the better pro. Not saying Burke would be bad just KCP would be better.
I think Burke’s ceiling is solid starter. I actually like the DJ Augustin comparison.

King CaluchaParticipantI am too lazy to look it up. But he was getting a lot of hype after his last college tournament. And yes, he was being compared to CP3 and other great PGs… a lot! He was considered a sure thing, while MCW was being thrashed at times. People said his defense and playmaking were products of the system in Syracuse and that he wouldn’t be able to shoot at all.
Now onto the subject, I do get the DJ Augustin/Jameer Nelson feel when I see him play, as well. In my opinion, he will stay in the league for 10+ seasons and he’ll be a highly-regarded veteran because of his leadership (like Derek Fisher), but he’ll probably never sniff an all star position. I know it’s too soon, but that’s what I see.

FastAndFuriousParticipantMan, I know I’m not crazy, People remember damn near everybody who was on this board was talking about Burke after that tournament run where he led Michigan to the National Title game, and dudes was saying CP3,All-Star appearances, making numerous post about him being a top PG in the league, and now it’s clear that none of that’s gonna happen and now I get negged, because nobody wants to be wrong, that’s why I haven’t posted on here in a year and some change,
You punks were wrong lol man up, but it just goes to show your basketball knowledge is shot, because anybody with a decent basketball IQ, could tell long time ago Trey Burke woulod never ever be a superstar in the NBA, just a very good college player, decent NBA player.
LMAO CP3 and ALL STAR GAMES! LMAOOOOOOOOO RIGHT DUMMIES!!!!!

Captain LParticipantAs a Jazz fan the most impressive part of Trey’s game is his clutch play, he hasn’t to this point proven he is a good shooter but I think that will improve as he get more comfortable, he still is under a lot of pressure to run the team and be a leader on the team and that he will get more comfortable with and then he will play better. He isn’t a high quality player and is probably a marginal starter but for now he is the best the Jazz have. Exum will take the starting job one day and that could come sooner than later (hoping), Exum ‘s defense is what could push him into more PT and eventually to be the starter but I don’t think the Jazz aren’t in a hurry to push Exum, they will just let him progress slowly and Burke will be the starter until that time comes. That said Burke will continue to improve and be a solid player.

JoeWolf1The people saying that stuff in regards to CP3 were generally those with tripe digit negs. You’ve been a Burke doubter all along, but I’m sure you’ve been wrong about guys in the past as well. The CP3 talk wasn’t born on this site either. It was swirling around at that time, and some just chose to run with it.

Nbadraft.net compared him to Kemba Walker/Kyle Lowry
I said Burke had the ceiling of a 17 and 8 player. He was at 12 and 6 as a rookie, so I don’t think it’s that far off as he continues to improve.

FastAndFuriousParticipantI havent been wrong about anybody.
I said Rondo would be beast…..and he is
I said Jeff Teague would be beast, even back when he was riding the pine in ATL…….and now he is.
I said Bledsoe would be beast, back when he was riding the pine in LA……..and now he is
I said Rudy Gay would never reach his ceiling, though he would be a very good player in the league,……exactly what he is.
Many other comparisons ive made on here and ive never been wrong, you can go check.
Like I said Burke will be a 6th man for most of his career, mark it down, no all star apperances.
Zach Lavine will be the best guard, possibly player out this draft class mark it down.
Wasnt a burke doubter just told it how I saw it, I always said DJ Augustin, thats not being a doubter its beding honest and thats exactly what he is.
he will never AVERAGE 17&8
