valentineRiddle me this NBA junkies.
What is the benefit of trades having to equal each other in value? I believe there’s a 25% margin for error (could be wrong on that).
For example, you can’t trade a player on the league minimum for Carmello Anthony, even if the league minimum play was a beast.
Trades are probably the best thing in basketball. Why match salaries?
If both teams think the deal is fair and it doesn’t breach the salary cap….why not just leave it at that?
Would lead to more flexibility with trades.

Anton123ParticipantBut if it doesn’t breach the salary cap – teams can do that, see Philadelphia getting McGee and giving nothing in return.

llperezexactly, trades do not have to match at all assuming you are under the cap. lakers traded a draft pick last year for jeremy lin(15 mil) becasue lakers were well under cap. The nba just doesnt want teams over the cap going further over the cap via trade.

Jr. ROXASParticipantWhy is this guy getting so much negs for asking honest questions lol??? This is a forum wherein one can share his thoughts. If you neg someone that’s not trolling, at least justify it in comments.

Rip255Lol people have long memories. I wasn’t sure if it was my thread about lingerie basketball…the 1972 Olympic team being unsportsmanlike…or the well deserved criticism of teams that keep losing like Philly, Detroit and Boston….
Most of the fans here support teams that are regularly in the lottery. So when someone tells them what they already know (their team stinks)…they build up a grudge.
I don’t mind the negs….anyone thats good at anything has fans…and haters. Being good at nothing means people are indifferent…which is much worse in my opinion.

BEARDED-DRAGONParticipantits this guys history… he’s very prolific with asinine comments and questions. this one, not so bad… definitely not his worst, and so i’m not negging him for it. but when i clicked on the link as soon as it came up i thought "crap, not the rip and run guy again…" i’m guessing some others did the same but then instantly downvoted him. life in the internet age.

Rip255My threads often get a lot of replies, many of which are on unique and interesting topics.
Some are popular…some are not. But at least people form strong opinions either way.
Not everyone can be like Steph Curry and have 99% of the world like them. And it takes all types of personalities to make a forum work…
So for those like yourself who neg me regardless of what I write….ask yourself whether this forum would truly be better off without me.
However I suspect when people see my topics…they’re highly engaged and I take the time follow up almost every reply.
