  Utah moves Al Jefferson to let Kanter/Favors get more minutes and experience. Denver adds some inside scoring and someone who can get buckets. Pick n pop with lawson would be nice combo. I doubt Denver does this and I don’t know how much Denver values Rooster and they might want to hang on to the main piece of the Melo deal but I just want Jefferson out of Utah to play the 2 young studs, especially my guy Favors. 

Utah line-up – Williams, Burks, Gallinari, Kanter, Favors        

Bench: Milsap, Chandler, Foye, Williams, Koufus

 

Denver line-up – Lawson, Hayward, Igodoula, Jefferson, McGee

I don’t see Denver trading Gallo. he was the main piece aquired from the Melo-Drama trade for the Nugs. He was also having a stellar season last year until he got hurt.

 Let me ask everyone this: 

Who will be the better player in 3 years Hayward or Gallinari? 

Gallo is a stud. He hits the 3 and gets to the line. What more can you ask out of your starting SF?

Defense, distribution skills, rebounding and leadership. 

All of which I would say Hayward has the advantage on Gallinari.

Utah says no. Even though Denver gets the better end of the deal I think they might say no as well. They are an already blazingly fast team that has made enomrous steps towards having a top 10 defensive identity. Where does Big AL fit with those? 

 

I get your just trying to find a suiter for Al. I think he’d be great for some teams that are trying to psuh themselves over the top. An Indiana for instance. But then the question of what contenders or almost contenders have anything the Jazz want?

I like Chandler coming off the bench for wing depth, but we’ve traded enough picks away the past couple seasons…we need a real starting PG which we can get in the draft next summer. Gallo is a little better than Hayward right now (more rounded game, more hustle, better defense), but he’s been prone to injury in Denver and Hayward just needs to find his true position (I think he’s a SF but we played him a lot at SG last season). Also I want Big Al to get traded as much as every other Jazz fan (Favors is ready to bust out and Kanter needs PT already), but I wouldn’t want him staying in the division, especially going to a team like the Nuggets where he’d compliment defensive studs like Faried & Iggy pretty well

Haywards best position is the 2 spot and being 6’8 gives him a defininite advantage at the 2, at the 3 spot he is at a slight disadvantage against the likes of LeBron, Durrant, Melo, Granger, and a few others. Haywards ability to make others better is way more important than alot of people give him/ it credit for and the Jazz FO and coaches see it and appreciate it. Although the Jazz are and will be looking to move either Big Al or Milsap, they won’t do it until Favors and Kanter prove they can carry the load and deserve the time on the court. They Jazz philosophy is the youngs need to earn their way on the floor not just be given PT because they have potential. The Jazz want to win and they think the team that got them to the playoffs last yr and with the additions they picked up in the off season should make them a better team.  The 2 Williams and Foye and improvement from Favors, Hayward, Burks and Kanter should help the Jazz move up in the standings. I think the Jazz can move up to 6th, 5th, or even 4th in the west if the young kids show the improvement I think they can and will.

Personnel wise it doesn’t look like a bad trade but you have to consider the style of play teams play.  Al Jefferson is a back to the basket half court player who just does not fit into the Nuggets system who will run, run and run some more.  He will just eat into the minutes of Mcgee and Faried who fit the Nuggets style wayyyy better.

So no this trade should never go down.
