laarethekingsParticipantCavs and Pistons….
With the new Hard Cap coming I think trading Rip will not happen. Teams don’t want to take on his 2 years and 26 million. Plus no one is going to give up very much for a guy who’s 33 and helped in gettig his last HC canned.
But Rodney Stuckey who has shown that he’s not a PG and is going to have to play SG could bring the Big that the Pistons have been looking for… so
JJ Hickson
for
Rodney Stuckey
Cavs get a SG that they need also someone who’s played PG that could help out Irving
Pistons get a young PF to team up with Monroe down low, helping get something for the log jam they have at the two.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantStuckey isn’t a SG IMO, I wouldn’t make that trade, Hickson still has a lot of talent and Thompson is probably not ready to start right away, but if he is, I think JJ and Tristan could be a solid frontcourt (atleast for a 13 win team lol)

CalipariParticipantI hadn’t really thought of such an idea, that is very interesting. I’m not sure Grant and Scott are about to give up on Hickson, plus Stuckey figures to get paid, I believe he’s a free agent this season. it’s a good deal for the Pistons, but I’m not sure if the Cavs really need another guard who’s heavy on the ball-handling. They’ll likely just hand the reins to Irving, and I’m just not sure that the Cavs totally want to commit to Stuckey long-term.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI would totally hate this trade if it weren’t for the fact that the Cavs just drafted Tristain Thompson who in my opinion is the same player as Hickson. I think Stuckey needs a change of scenery and maybe would be better suited as a 6th man.

4hff4f427ParticipantI thought Hickson was basically untouchable for the Cavs. As a Piston fan, I’d love to see that happen but I can almost gauruntee it won’t. Just saying.

4hff4f427ParticipantNow that I think about it, how would this COUNTER-deal sound?:
DETROIT RECIEVES: Antawn Jamison
CLEVELAND RECIEVES: Ben Gordon
Yes, I KNOW Gordon has two more years on his contract than Jamison, but don’t the Cavs need a starting shooting gaurd? And also, doesnt Cleveland already have Hickson, Thompson, Varejao, and Hollins at their power positions. Bottom line is this:
-If your thinking about contracts ONLY, than this deal probably wouldnt work.
-If your thinking about positioning, and trying to make your team better and more balanced, this trade might just work.
Take it for what it’s worth.

CalipariParticipantThe Cavs absolutely don’t need to and shouldn’t go through with a deal for positioning and making their team more balanced by adding a burdensome contract. Really, why the hell would Cleveland want a undersized, whiney 2 guard who can do nothing but score at a decent if not average clip? Jamison will be a huge bargaining chip this season, assuming their is one, because of his expiring, but he also holds value for playoff teams looking for experience and that in/out style. Cleveland could really get something for him, and it will be interesting to see if Grant can turn him into some significant pieces.

kobyzParticipant@laarethekings, interesting and legitimate offerif i’m the cavs i definitely go for it as i’m high on Tristain Thompson and i think the starting PF spot for the future is close with him and Hickson is expendable.
if i’m the Pistons i’m not sure if i’m doing this, even though Hickson is a great talent and could be nice fit next to Monroe, i think Rodney Stuckey has a little bit more value and i want first to try Rodney Stuckey with Brandon Knight in the same backcort, playing in his more natural position the two guard and see how it goes!!!

BasterdInABasketParticipantI doubt they trade JJ. They wouldnt get rid of him for Amare two years ago, Im sure they think hes worth more than rodney stuckey now.

draftmangtParticipantIts already been reported that the cavs only move Hickson if they can get an unprotected lottery pick.
