I’d probably do it if I was the Wolves. They already said if they draft Derrick Williams, that they won’t look to trade Beasley or Randolph, so they won’t be able to use him all that much anyways. If they did this trade, they could select Enes Kanter and then select someone like Klay Thompson, Marshon Brooks or Jordan Hamilton. It also works out for the Jazz, who like Williams and could start him at SF if AK47 doesn’t come back next season. This is actually a good idea

Trade Flynn, Johnson and #20 pick to DET for Hamilton #8 pick and next years 1st rounder.

Starters:

PG: Ridnour

SG: Hamilton

SF: Williams

PF: Love

C: Millic

Bench:

PG: Rubio

SF/PF: Beasley

SG/SF: Webster

C: Biyombo

PF: Randolph

Suddenly the Wolves are no longer so incredibly young. They would have three solid veterans in the starting lineup to go with two all star calliber players at the forward spots. You would have to be optimistic about your team to have three potential laden talents coming off the bench. You could also play Love at the 5 and Beasley and Williams at the forwards to go small, but without getting killed on the boards as most teams do when they opt to go small. Beasley may not be best suited as a starter but rather a spark plug/loose cannon off the bench anyways. This would also take the pressure off Rubio to be a stud from day one. Ridnour is a serviceable PG that can show him the ropes. If your teams biggest weakness is a plataue of Hamilton and Webster at SG then you should win 40 – 50 games.

Wolves would be playoff bound for an early first round exit.

This gives DET an actual PG with some abilities and a nice player in Johnson while getting rid of Hamilton and his contract. They still have a top 20 pick as well. The talent between 8 and 20 is very similar, but Biyombo won’t amek it past GS, HOU and NY.

personally I’d prefer to ship the 3 and 12 plus millsap to the bucks for Bogut and the 10, then you have a true defensive minded center to add alongside Jefferson for a season while Favors still develops, then draft Burks at the 10 slot to have a line up of Harris/Burks/Hayward/Jefferson/Bogut.

As a wolves fan I don’t mind the idea of the 2 and 20 for 3 and 12, but I hate the idea of trading w/ Detroit to get Hamilton and two years of a bloated contract…Detroit needs to realize addition w/ subtraction if they want to dump that contract.  

If you make the trade w/ Utah, get Kanter. Take the 12, Flynn and Johnson to GSW for Ellis

WILLIAMS IS NOT A SF. Utah would have no use for him. Minny SHOULD get kanter at 2 or with a trade.

Who cares about two years of a bloated contract. You really think they are gonna be big in the free agent market in the next two years other than with what a midlevel could get them? Then its off the books and they are ripe and ready. Rent Hamilton’s experience for two years.

Wolves get a more experienced SG and they can draft Kanter for their C:

Jazz fill their need at the SG and can still get a PG/SF with their 12 pick:

PG: Harris, (#12:Fredette/trade up to get Walker)
SG: Johnson/Hayward, Hayward/Johnson
SF: Williams, Evans/(#12: Singleton/Harris/Hamilton)
PF: Favors. Millsap
C: Jefferson, Okur

I’d probably throw in a disclaimer that these aren’t the only trades for both teams in the off season.

drk3351 and mds0549 you both are exactly correct. 

I’m not sold on DWilliams and I don’t think he’s near the talent as Beasley at the SF position…Beasley is going to be a top 5 scorer in the NBA someday soon and there’s no way I start DWilliams over KLove or Beasley, and I don’t agree with trading Beasley.

I also think the Wolves really like Kanter and I think Kanter will be there at #3 and at #12 you can look for a SG like Burks or Thompson, I like Thompson. I see this as getting much more value out of this years draft for the Wolves but if i’m a Jazz fan I don’t like this trade at all, unless they really love DWilliams.

If the Jazz could use Williams at SF with Hayward at SG then the deal has some logic. The T-Wolves could then take maybe Kanter at 3 and BPA at 12 or trade that pick.
