sammybuckeye13ParticipantThe basis of this trade idea comes from this assertion:
The Jazz owe it to Jerry Sloan to build the best team possible with the resources at their disposal, as he might only have a couple years left on the bench. Seeing as how rapidly players are changing teams, they should similarly utilize all their options to surround Deron Williams with the best players they can. That said, Andrei Kirilenko is both the problem and the solution. He’s regressed at a remarkable rate, but is also a very juicy $17.8 million expiring contract. If the Jazz really want to win and give Sloan what he deserves for all 22 years on the bench, they’ll find a way to trade AK. Here’s my idea:
Pistons get: Andrei Kirilenko
Jazz get: Richard Hamilton and Chris Wilcox
In Hamilton, the Jazz would get a great veteran to pair with Deron Williams; I think a core of DWill, Rip and Big Al would definitely be enough to make some noise, especially considering the veteran leadership they added this summer, added depth on the bench and the sizeable contributions that Millsap and Okur will no doubt make.. This trade might work out even better for Detroit, however. They have a payroll of $65 million and are not projected to make the playoffs, are saddled with a number of long term deals (Rip, Gordon, Villanueva), but most importantly, have a huge logjam at the swing, with Stuckey, Hamilton, Prince, Gordon, AND T-Mac, with Daye and Terrico White trying to find minutes. ALSO, factor in Jonas Jerebko’s injury, which will keep him out 5-6 months. So here, for the Pistons, you have a player that gives you $17.8 million in cap relief next year, eases the jam at SG/SF, and acts as a perfect replacement for a 25-30 minute per game PF.

butidonthavemoneyWays to Get a Negative from Me
- Insult another user.
- Suggest that the Jazz trade Kirilenko
This trade wouldn’t help our team in any way. We don’t need more scoring.

nateoak10ParticipantI don’t think Detroit would want AK 47
They have enough wing SF type guys. They need to get rid of someone like Prince and maybe Rip too make room for someone like Daye and Jerbko and AK is a clone of Jerbko anyway. DET says no

Kinguy11ParticipantBoth teams wouldn’t do it if they were offered the trade.

SwatLakeCityParticipantWhy is trading AK so bad nomoney? He costs the Jazz a lot of money, so any way too save money from his humongous contract is a plus. He may be a fan favorite, but so was Wesley Matthews and I don’t see Jazz fans irate over losing him. They may be upset but they realize that they’d rather have a veteran who can do the same things that he could than just a young guy who can do those same things but isn’t going to get any better. So I don’t see what so bad about trading AK. Yeah he adds a lot of defense to Utah, but you can trade him for a defensive player like Diaw or Hamilton. and still keep the defense for a lot less.
About the trade, the reason why the Jazz want to trade AK is to save money. Rip also has a huge contract, so this trade would not save the Jazz any money, which means they probably would not accept the trade.

butidonthavemoneyI’ve explained that too many times.
And if you think that Plump Diaw and Richard Hamilton are as good defensively as Andrei Kirilenko then I have nothing else to say to you.

Counting StarsParticipantThanks for handling this one, nomoney. I look at AK as a glue guy for the Jazz. He is versatile and brings so many things that don’t show up in the box score. His contract is inflated, but he is worth keeping and it will be off the books after this year at which point the Jazz should resign him.

PlatypusParticipantDetroit would do this asap, they want the expiring deal and with Jerebko out for the season he can take his place in the rotation and it lets T. White get more playing time
Depth with trade for Pistons
Stuckey – Bynum – White
Gordon – White – T-Mac
Prince – Daye – Summers / T-Mac
Ak-47 – Charlie V – Maxiell
Ben Wallace – Monroe – Maxiell
Prince, AK-47, and Stuckey comin off the books is around 28 ish million, thats off top of my head so may not be exact

Kinguy11ParticipantOn second thought I think the Pistons would do the trade.
