NYFLAVA2K9ParticipantSo a buddy of mines floated a trade idea of Eric Gordon for Danny Granger. He made some interesting points, the most important being Nola is in need of a SF, and Indy is in need of a SG. Either way they are taking on or left with players that have a history of injury, thus minimizing any risk in that department. Also, Gordon is from Indy and Nola needs a floor spacing SF who can play D and that’s Granger’s specialty. The contracts also match almost perfect as Gordon made $13,668,750 last year, and Granger made $13,058,606. I usually don’t do the the whole trade idea thing because they almost never go through, but this idea personally had me intrigued. If you were a GM, would you make this move or not? And if so or not, why?

Mad MaxParticipantI like, won’t happen because it makes too much sense

ProudGrandpaParticipantOH MAH GOSH, I was just wondering about this same deal. In the past, I haven’t wanted Eric Gordon to join the Pacers because I wasn’t that big on him, but now Granger is really expendable and we wouldn’t have to give up too much for Gordon. Shooting guard may be our weakest position, or at least, Lance Stephenson is our most replaceable starter.

Sewok15ParticipantGordon is 6 years younger and has more of an all around offensive game in my mind so the Pacers would be getting the better deal. It does make a lot of sense from a team need standpoint but Granger also only has one year remaining on his deal…I don’t think that would entice NOLA to make this deal but maybe if they wanted a stop gap SF and wanted to take a shot at one of the big name guys that will be available next summer it would make a lot of sense?

KHAM83ParticipantThis isn’t a new trade idea buddy. Everyone on here has suggested it. The problem is money. Granger contract expires in time for George new, most likely Max contract. Indy will be hard pressed to pay George, Hibbert, and Gordon such large contracts.

ItsRainingNegsParticipantDanny Granger isn’t a 24+ ppg scorer anymore so let’s get that out of the way. Eric Gordon, amid all of his injuries, still has high trade value and this trade makes a mockery of it. I’m with NOLA in the sense I’d rather crash and burn with Gordon before I’d trade him for less than half his value. If he’s healthy New Orleans makes the playoffs, it’s truly that simple. He could average 25 a game and even if he couldn’t having him and Holiday and Evans and Davis on the same court together gives you a chance to close out every close game.
Gordon and Davis (and now Holiday) are the franchise guys, giving him up for anything else, like a Danny Granger, is senseless.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantBeing from Indy, I can tell you without a doubt that Indiana would love to have Eric Gordon in a Pacers uniform and that Hoosiers have wanted to see this trade happen for quite some time.

eci_eliteParticipantwhen’s the last time Gordon even played half a season? Bad idea trade for a guy who’s falling apart, unless Indiana gets draft picks.

Chilbert arenasParticipantIt would be a homecoming for both players involved. But neither seem to be able to stay healthy.

festar35ParticipantThe big problem is paying Paul George with Eric Gordon and Roy Hibbert on the books!! Hibbert is max, Gordon is max, West is owed 12mil and Hill 8mil. That is 48mil without George extension of about 12-14mil.
That will be a roster of 62mil without a single bench player. We still have Ian 4mil, need a decent back-up PF (2-4mil) and rest off bench and Bird said he will not go into tax.

jhbm24ParticipantYou guys give Danny Granger too much Value. Eric Gordan is way younger an worth a lot more on a contract that has a few years on it. Pacers would run away like Bandits..

XYRYXParticipantWould absolutely make sense in any way. Still a risk to deal for players with a injury list but this isn’t any additional risk also.
The Pelicans are really pushing right now. I like it at lot that some of the teams are trying to make a push and not all waiting for the glory trophy of 2014 draftclass!
