Cavs trade: Luol Deng & Anthony Bennett

Bobcats trade: Ben Gordon, Cody Zeller & 1st round pick from Portland

Cavs do this to get something of value in return for Deng and a decent big man in Cody Zeller. Bobcats do this to make a push for the playoffs, getting a 2 time all star in return. Bennett still has plenty of potential.

The two sides would have to agree to make two separate trades since Deng can only be traded straight up.

    Chris Grant, is that you!?

In all honesty this is not good for anyone but the Bobcats.  Anthony Bennet has more potential than Cody Zeller.  He’s a better shooter and better athlete.  As much as I don’t like Bennet, I think Cody Zeller is worse.  The 1st round pick from Portland is going to be in the mid to high twenties the way they are playing this year. I would rather the Cavs take the Bobcats pick in the first round (if they even have one).  Ben Gordon is probably the best piece since his contract is atrocious and up soon.

I know the Cavs are going to lose Deng after the year is over, so might as well trade him to a playoff contending team this year for a bad contract that is up at year end and 1st round draft picks (Maybe someone like Dallas would be interested).  They are a middle of the pack team and you could get a pick in the mid-high teens, which is far better than a mid twenties pick.

this trade makes no sense to me if i were a cavs fan.  if they wanted zeller, they would of drafted him #1.  so, then deng for gordon and a late 1st round pick.  no, that doesn’t really jive either.  both have expiring contracts and the portland pick is going to be at the back end of the draft.  cleveland still has a shot of making the playoffs, with a much better chance with deng.
