knicksfreakParticipantWith the 76ers apparently shopping MCW and unhappy with Embiid is there a chance they trade them?
Would they consider trading the 2 of them for the Knicks #1 pick?
That would likely give them 2 picks in the top 3.
Okafor looks like a good player but there’s a chance the Knicks won’t get the #1 pick and I like Embiid and MCW over anyone besides maybe Russell after Okafor
Embiid was considered the best center prospect in 20 years

lakesidebenParticipantHinkie’s basic strategy right now is tallying assets. In trading MCW and Embiid for a pick, he would be losing assets and value.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI’ll elaborate my thought process
The Knicks are division rivals…
We value McW and Embiid very highly despite what people hear in the Media…
Joel Embiid was the 3rd pick last year only because he injured his foot, he’s got more NBA potential than anyone in this years draft class(Okafor and Mudiay included)
McW is alot like a young Jason Kidd, we see what happens when you trade away a young PG with triple double potential, you never get back equal value(I agree he’s got to improve his outside shooting)
Lastly, the 76ers are in a position to add 2 more Lottery Picks this year(Our own Top 5 Pick and Miami’s pick is currently 16th)…Add in the fact Joel comes back for his rookie season and Saric may be coming over as well, that’s 4 rookies on our roster next year, far more than we really need with McW/Noel/Wroten/McDaniels already on board…
I think the safest bet for Philadelphia is to target the BPA or a SF with Star Potential in the Top 5(Johnson or Oubre fit)…Than we can look to trade up using the Miami pick plus assets to find our SG of the future(Hezonja and Russell seeem like perfect fits next to McW and Wroten…

OrserParticipantThe Sixers could definitely trade MCW. But I don’t think the Sixers are going to trade Embiid, unless for some reason they don’t like what they see medically (and in that case they might still hold on to him since presumably other teams would also be wary). The "Embiid is 300 pounds" thing seems to mostly be the speculation of a bored and hostile Philly media and, as the OP said, Embiid is/was considered to be one of the greatest center prospects in years.

Ebown5ParticipantThere is nothing in the NBA that I would trade Embiid for at this point other than Anthony Davis, and maybe Durant.
I’m not saying that there aren’t other players with greater trade value in the league, but in terms of where the Sixers are right now, there is no draft pick or player worth trading for that would be potentially better for us over the next 5-10 years.
All of our eggs are in the basket of his health right now, and that is obviously still very much a concern, but we wait patiently.
Now, I would take Okafor number one if we won the lottery for sure, and Okafor and Embiid may not be able to play together, but we will sort that out down the road if that comes to pass.

TrillaParticipantNo way they could get back the potential that those possess, especially with more talent coming aboard in the next two years

knicksfreakParticipantThis isn’t as lopsided as some of you are suggesting. I’m not even sure the Knicks would go for it
Embiid has enormous potential BUT that’s if he recovers fully from his injury, stays healthy, and develops like many project he can. Definitely not a safe bet. Philly also has been disappointed with his maturity and commitment while he has been injured.
Philly has been rumored to be shopping MCW for a year now. Philly is obviously not in love with him.
if Philly has a crush on Okafor, this gives them a much better chance at the #1 overall pick. Okafor seems to be a great fit next to Noel as an offensive force in a big body to pair with Noel’s defensive prowess and athleticism.

Ebown5ParticipantThe point is that it isnt happening. MCW could theoretically get traded, but there is no chance that Embiid gets traded.
You are right that there is no garantee that he will be able to stay healthy, but if he can, he will be a franchise player. I love Okafor, but he isnt in the same class as Embiid.
All of our eggs are in the healthy Embiid basket, but it is a risk worth taking, and we are going to ride it out.
