cp5ParticipantJust read that the Kings have traded Acy and Outlaw to the Knicks for Ellington, Tyler and a 2nd rounder, what’ are your thoughts?

ExumInfernoParticipantNot the biggest trade, maybe an even one, or the two teams get some help where they need it a little bit.
The Kings do like shooting guards, McLemore and Stauskas and now Ellington. Tyler could be a useful big body for backup center minutes. One of McLemore or Stauskas would seem like they have to be traded soon, probably McLemore. But maybe they keep both and play them together on the court at times.
Knicks added two small forwards, maybe Carmelo will keep playing plenty of power forward minutes.
At least a trade happened and fans had something to talk about.
There is probably a salary part to this trade that is hard to see, but maybe not. Seems even there for totals and years. Maybe it was just the Knicks moving out Ellington as he was their 4th shooting guard, and now he can be the Kings’ 4th, or 3rd, shooting guard.

BasketBalAllanParticipantThis is the one! The trade that shakes the very foundation of basketball and leads it to a new and exciting land of prosperity. Because of this we can expect a huge shift in the makeup of both conferences, superstars will fall into obscurity making way for the unknowns to rise against their expectations while tearing through their ceilings to reach for the stars!

Winning_TimeParticipantMan if you showed me this in 09 I would have thought this is was a bigtime trade I thought Wayne Ellington was going to be an all star or at least Michael redd. Sad to see him never fit in anywhere I thought Memphis was going to be the place a couple years ago

juves4783Participantthis is a pretty wierd trade in my opinion. new york has melo and drafted early so why add outlaw? kings had mclemore and stauskas so why add ellington? both outlaw and ellington only have 1 year left, while acy and tyler are non-guarnteed contracts. do the knicks just hate drafting and want to get rid of another pick?

DolanCareParticipantI love me some Quincy Acy. I don’t care if this trade is comprised solely of 8th and 9th men. As a Knicks fan, I’m happy to receive the best player in this deal…. which is definietely Acy. He’s the dog that hustles that this team desperatly needs.

XYRYXParticipantI think the Knicks won this trade. Thanasis and Clearly are both fine but are unproven as well. Acy plays like a vet while still on his rookie contract and Outlaw could be a starter if injuries force the Knicks to adjust or if Melo will start at the 4.
The Kings somehow made their overload at the 2 even worse imo. Nik and Ben could both start but with Terry beeing around there arent much minutes to earn for Ellington. Tyler still has some upside but I realy don’t see him as much more as the homeless version Cousins himself, a terrible defender and an overrated shooter. The Kings needed a rim protector and I really doubt Tyler is that.
The only way I like this for the Kings is if Terry is beeing shipped which isn’t really unlikely and if this move means Williams will get more minutes for them. I really liked him going to the Kings and hoped he has a chance to start somewhere to prove himself but like 10 days later the Kings traded for Gay and his opportunity went away.

Mr. HookShotParticipantEvery team needs a little bit of hustle on their team, especially the Knicks who don’t have the thoughest players up front (think Bargnani). Acy is such a typical hustle-guy, Evans-like PF that brings energy and ‘a little bit of nasty’ to the team. Good trade in that sense imo.

Jco4ParticipantI like this trade for the Knicks. Hopefully Acy gets more of an opportunity to show what he can do and I like the idea of bringing Outlaw in, even if he just acts as a veteran voice in the locker room.
