I don’t see the Lakers wanting to take on guaranteed contracts – they’re looking to clean house after this year

ZB has the option of leaving your contract, you can do and reduce the quantity of money for more year

I think the Lakers are fine with taking on money for the next 2 years.  They just want that space cleared by 2016 for Durant, Westbrook, Kyrie, etc.

This ^^. Ramona Shelburne said on the BS Report that LA’s coming to grip with their chances of luring LeBron, so taking on $ until 2016, when that free agent class is more appealing, isn’t a bad idea.

OP’s trade isn’t the worst on this site by any means, but if the Lakers are willing to take on $ until 2016 then I like them trading Pau + expirings to Chicago for Boozer and Deng. A Bryant-Boozer-Deng core + their 2014 first rounder and w/e else they keep this summer…it’s not a title contender but certainly one that can get in the playoffs. How they keep Deng and make room for 2016 though…not sure how that works lol

Recent talk makes me think the Lakers could have interest in moving Gasol. D’Antoni has been publically criticizing him about his "lack of aggression," while Gasol said his low FG% was due to the D’Antoni’s system and then said playing with his brother in Memphis was an attractive idea.

Frankly, Gasol looks like he’s hurt and this would be the worst time to trade him (value-wise).

Randolph, 32,  would obviously be a good player to get back, but it seems like this is their only opportunity to get some youth (other than the draft).

I like the idea of Bayless and ZBO at Lakers, don’t know if Ujiri and the Raptors would be keen to take on Nash. Also I kind of feel bad for ZBO, Memphis just sort of pushing him out the door when he obviously doesn’t want to go.

+1 just because you actually linked the Trade Machine correctly. The trade isn’t half bad either. =)
