BKKnicksfanParticipanthttp://www.torontosun.com/2011/04/22/gta-hoops-trio-enter-nba-draft
History will be made Friday afternoon.
Brampton’s Tristan Thompson, of the Texas Longhorns is expected to announce his decision to sign with an agent and enter the 2011 NBA draft.
But that’s not all, the Sun has learned his longtime teammate, Cory Joseph of Pickering and their AAU teammate Olu Ashaolu of Toronto and Louisiana Tech. will also declare, barring a last-minute change of heart, though they will do so without an agent, leaving the door open to an NCAA return.
Thompson is considered a potential lottery pick while Joseph and Ashaolu are likely second round selections at best.
Thompson’s decision is not a surprise, once elite forwards like Jared Sullinger, Perry Jones III and Harrison Barnes opted to stay in school, his stock shot up in the depleted draft.
Ashaolu, though raw, was a double-double machine and has NBA athleticism.
Joseph’s decision is perhaps the most shocking, scouts have said he needs more time to develop and it is still not clear what position he would play in the NBA, but those close to him have obviously heard good things from at least one team.
The announcements are expected to come at 3 p.m.0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/22/2011 - 9:32am #524177

OhCanada-ParticipantCorey Joseph is making the same mistake Avery Bradley made. Texas is going to be horrible next year. Anybody think Kabongo reclassifies?

B FreeParticipantAvery went inthe top 20 and maybe another year exposed more of his flaws, I can’t be down on him for that.

Lotto StudParticipantJoesph will be a career backup. He has no true position although he was a PG in HS, but I think scouts question his ability to play it, because he was off the ball this year.

B FreeParticipantYou mean reclassify and enter this year? No I don’t see that with so little time left.

OhCanada-ParticipantOops why did I say reclassify my bad. I meant recommit sorry.

OhCanada-ParticipantImagine if Kabongo went to a team like Baylor.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantEarlier in the season, some sites had Joseph as a possible late lottery pick….I think he made the right decision..Becuz this is a weak draft,he has a great chance of being a 1st rounder…

gopack10ParticipantJoseph isn’t the same player as Avery Bradley either. They are similar but AB is a better defender. Joseph isn’t ready for the NBA by any stretch. Watching him this year he looked lost most of the time. I hope he and Thompson come back just because I love college bball so much but Thompson is a lottery pick so he is going to stay in the draft. Who in the world advises these players?

mikeyvthedonParticipantAnyone want to apologize for questioning this sites reporting Thompson would enter?
I was waiting for it to happen, but had a feeling it would. I think Corey Joseph is actually not at all making a bad decision. He and Thompson will both be first round picks, Tristan could easily go top 10. Corey will more than likely be one of the first PG’s taken after Irving, Knight, Walker and Fredette. Sure, Texas will suffer due to the loss of them, but they should recuperate fairly well. Not to mention, Kabongo should make a MAJOR impact and more than likely be one of their go to players.
Man, I made a post earlier today about Ashaolu, and that is kind of a bummer. He had graduated from Louisiana Tech, and word was he was looking at Oregon, but now it appears he is going after pro aspirations. Once considered a top player in his class (when he was an early developed sophomore), he had a decent career at Tech, and finished this year at 14.2 and 9.4, plus a handful of double-doubles. He is 6-7 and 230, and seems like a complete tweener in the NBA. Still, best of luck to all of them, and I think people should be happy with the fact that Corey Joseph and Tristan Thompson just added slightly more depth to this draft.

OhCanada-ParticipantWho compared Avery to Corey. I said they both should have stayed and developed their games thats all. Smart career choice for now due to the 1st round selection although he still had to improve alot of aspects of his game.
He probally felt since he would be playing off the ball next year anyways and he is naturally a PG that he might as well just go forward with the draft, especially due to mnext years depth.

Da1potParticipantIf Ryan Reid can get drafted, Ashaolu might get drafted as well. He is a good athlete……

chavezParticipantDoes that mean Jordan Hamilton is gone now?

PaulsJayhawksParticipantHimself haha….Jordan Hamilton gone too 100%.
I hope the Raps can maybe buy a early 2nd rounder and snag Joseph.

M.GarveyParticipantJoseph better withdraw by May 8, he needs another year under his belt, his college threes, steady hand w/o turnover were good but he needs to finish better around the rim
