For_Never_EverParticipantJustin Patton is a two way big man, a legit 6’11/7ft with good mobility and athleticism. He has an Al Jefferson developing low post game. Still growing into his body, and a bit thin. I actually think he will end up going a lot higher when draft time comes.

For_Never_EverParticipantHe is a very skilled big man like an Al Jefferson and Robin Lopez without the defensive flaws.

warson24You really wrote Robin Lopez and the ‘skilled big man’ words in the same sentence? Wow
You should be from another planet.0- Posted on: Fri, 02/03/2017 - 3:40am #1091729

Robb_CParticipantI think he meant Brook Lopez..

EspressoParticipantWhat up for never ever, you sob, where u been?

ChicagoCaseyParticipantTop overall center? Or top PF/C? If it’s the latter, it might be Robert Williams or Harry Giles. I know Giles has struggled to come back to what he was from the summer, but im still holding down hope. Robert Williams is a fast riser, like Marquese Chriss from last year.
Justin Patton, John Collins, and Jarrett Allen are all interesting prospects that have what the NBA want in the center position now and days. They are all long, athletic, can run the floor, block shots, guard in space (potentiall), and can finish at the rim.
Another player I would be looking at is Jonathan Motley.

HitsterParticipantAs I always say it only takes one GM to like you, so he has as good a chance as most big prospects to go fairly high in the draft. A team looking for a big would no doubt work him out and a lot would depend how the bigs compare in workouts.
But if he measures well in the combine then could be in a good position to move up the draft board as he has good upside.
Ironically on the current site draft he is going to Charlotte which would be a nice fit for him as he’d have the chance to work with Patrick Ewing.

binetParticipantIsaiah Hartenstein is the best Center prospect. He can play both PF/C and has a modern skillset and better athleticism than most european bigs coming over.
If you look at the C position in the NBA right now, half the legit good Cs are euro guys. There are less bust from euro bigs also than from americans. Hartenstein is very talented and the talent is not obvious in the NCAA at that position.
That being said he is going to be a late lottery pick only and could be taken after the virtual potential of Harry Giles.

Robb_CParticipantJustin Patton is the best big in the draft, absolutely could go in the top 8 if a team needs a center..Im still evaluating his skillset but everything points to him being very serviceable at the nba level

cjwParticipantI agree patton has whiteside potential

Robb_CParticipantPattons skillset, size and fluidity remind me a lot of Andrew Bynum, Patton has lots of room on his frame to add weight.. His Footwork and Hands are outstanding for his age and size.

ChoppyParticipantLauri Markkanen anyone? Apart from his limitations on defence I’d say he’s the best big in the draft.
0- Posted on: Thu, 02/02/2017 - 10:19am #1091685

Robb_CParticipantMaybe the best Shooting Big.. I wouldn’t say hes anything more than a pick and pop big at the next level. How can we truly consider Lauri the best big overall when hes an absolute liability on the defensive side.

holefillers1ParticipantMarkkanen has maybe the purest shot in college basketball. Especially amongst the bigs in this draft. His face up game is alright. But he is the modern day stretch in the NBA. His job is to score without taking up space. Lauri ends up in the top five, book it fellas.

OhCanada-ParticipantWhy does everyone think Markannen is a defensive liability. I can’t understand this? Can someone explain I feel like he has great defensive potential.
0- Posted on: Thu, 02/02/2017 - 2:47pm #1091706

Robb_CParticipantHe struggles against rudimentary offensive schemes and approaches at the college level.. I catch him from time to time being confused on defense and understanding basic defensive principles. The NBA is obviously more complex with its offensive approach.. He wont be able to get starter minutes if he cant defend, players minutes are earned through who they’re able to guard, if he cant figure out how to defend PnR and rotate properly hes going to struggle to earn time.. Hes not that athletic so he wont be able to bail himself out if he blows a read.
0- Posted on: Thu, 02/02/2017 - 3:07pm #1091708

Robb_CParticipantAll that being said if the game of basketball was about just catching alley oops and shooting 3pointers he’d be the first pick.. He can flat out shoot the pill but he tends to just stand around and wait for his shot.. He needs to be more aggressive/looks passive with absolutely no enthusiasm.. Averaging 0.1 block a game for a 7 footer which is pathetic.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantSurprised to not see Ivan Rabb mentioned even once yet, I still see him as a top 10 pick in the draft but I know he’s dropped a bit on other boards.. If a team is looking for a C then Patton might be the best available. But if a team is looking for a PF Rabb, John Collins, and Markannan are all worthy of a lottery selection IMO.
Collins is my fastest riser right now.
0- Posted on: Thu, 02/02/2017 - 10:58pm #1091724

Robb_CParticipantBig fan of Rabb as well, Hes extremely well put together as a Forward/Center.. I think his value is low because his potential isn’t overwhelming, but hes one of the more refined prospects in the draft definitely a safe pick

HitsterParticipantA lot will of course depend who declares this year, Zach Collins could easily be in this year’s draft and is listed at 7 on Aran’s 2018 mock.
I had always thought that Ivan Rabb had a great chance of going top 10 this year given that he should be NBA ready,

r377ParticipantHarry Giles is hugely skilled. If he can stay healthy he can be the best.
I am keeping an eye on Jarrett Allen, he looks quite good….
0- Posted on: Fri, 02/03/2017 - 5:02am #1091739

Robb_CParticipantGiles is the gold standard as far as NBA ready prospects especially for the bigger guys.. Im just not comfortable reaching and calling him the best big yet due to the limited amount of time he’s played, I’d like him to play another year in college and possibly try and work back to playing longer on a college court opposed to being drafted and having pressure to perform against stronger players. The NBA isnt going anywhere..
0- Posted on: Fri, 02/03/2017 - 3:41pm #1091761

r377ParticipantI agree 100% and was thinking the same. Giles should come back (healthy) and dominate next season. If he can dominate (which he has the skillset to) he should go top 3 next year guaranteeing him about $5mill per season. If he declares this year he could go 8-20 and only be guaranteed about $1-2mill approx. per season…
We all saw what happened last year with Skal and Deytona Davis. They were projected late lottos, then dropped massively on draft day

r377ParticipantJustin Patton reminds me a bit of John Henson. Good defender and bball IQ. Isn’t superior around the rim or in the post but is quite handy and better than average. He doesn’t get a lot of the ball for me to really evaluate him.
I think he might be a slightly better defender than Jarrett Allen, but Allen has a better shooting touch/jumpshot. I would prob put Allen ahead of patton atm but they are quite close. Will be interesting to keep an eye on both of these two…
