no way Gasol is ahead of Carmelo and Roy hes an All-Star but i think hes extremely overrated Kobe made him better. top 25 but no way top 10 Melo should be there.

I don’t think that he is better than Deron Williams. They both can score, with Parker being the better slasher and Williams being the better shooter. But Williams is a true point guard, who runs a team much better than Parker.

i agree Williams is better. Parker is almost as good but Williams a little better i think hes better just a little better at slashing, but Williams is better aT defending, and shooting. and hes a much better playmaker which is what a point guard needs to be good at.

In the summer gasol is one of the best players in the world. for the last couple of years the spain team has went through gasol and absolutely dominated. for his size and skill set he is amazing and perfect next to kobe

*edit* i also think 10 is a tad bit high but he is a fantastic player

gasol played the best ball of his career last season. He is just so efficient. He hits a high percentage and scores despite not being the nuber one optionn. He passes, he rebounds. Plus he defended better last year then ever before. He played Dwight Howard to a standstill in the finals. I’m not sure if he is better then Carmelo or roy though.

Dirk doesnt have the low post footwork that Pau has honestly…nor does he have the ability to play with both hands down low that Pau does.

i agree with Iggy Dirks strength is his insane shooting and hes 7-0 feet but Gasol is so good because hes fundamentally sound.

I dont think you can say that Willams runs his team better than Parker. Parker has the unenviable task of being the best scoring option and primary passer on a team laden with veteran talent, and he does it in spades. The best slasher and finisher in the game with airtight ball handling skills and elite body control, he rarely, if ever, makes a bad decision with whether to pass or score. It also wouldn’t suprise me to see Parker’s assist totals jump with Jefferson, but more important than that, he’s the key cog to one of the most efficient offenses in the NBA. Williams also has the advantage of playing point for a Jerry Sloan coached team, which leads him to having a bevy of pick-and-roll options, as well as teammates that move very well without the ball, not to mention that Sloans offense is initiated by the point guard and rarely anyone else. While I personally believe Williams is slightly better because of his size and strength, bit I also believe that parker is usually underrated. His elite quickness, ball control and body control make him as dangerous a player as anyone in the NBA. Don’t forget, he was the second best player on 3 Championship teams and has a finals MVP on his resume, so anyone who doesnt put Kobe above Lebron, in all honesty shouldnt put Williams before Parker.

Dwight Howard at 3? Did anyone watch the playoffs last year? If you don’t spoon feed him dunks and alley oops the guy disappears.

paul has always been very good..he just wasnt noticed because he was good on a bad team. ..deron didnt make it last year because he was injuried for awhile and i think the year before parker played out of his mind and paul played very well and i think steve nash played pretty good. and i think deron splayed his best ball after the allstar break. he will start making it now. in the past he was in a bad position with parker nash and chris paul. people for some reason dont give parker as much credit as he should..he runs the team very well and can/does take over games when he needs to

nice list Dwight. The only thing I would really change would be to drop Amare quite a bit. He doesn’t play defense and the fact that the suns made their deepest run in the playoffs was the year he was sitting out with an injury makes me think twice about him. He is without question a great offensive player, but I’ve seen him give up just as many at the other end against elite big men. But seriously, the rest of your list looks pretty much just like mine would.

That’s a decent list. I’d move Paul Pierce up though… He’s too low. He should be somewhere in between 15 and 20. It’d also be hard for me to put Gilbert Arenas in the top 25 when he hasn’t played in two whole seasons.

Another thing is… Where is Yao Ming? If he’s not a top 15 player, then I’m clueless about basketball.

Oh in the original blog the guy didn’t rate Ming because he wasn’t expected to play this season, I just went with that premise.

You’re right Arenas hasn’t played in 2 full seasons, I guess I just expect him to make a good recovery and he’s still young enough to be an impact player for a few more years.
