Bayless is a potential 18 ppg scorer given the oppurtunity. True pg? no. But could run a team well enough to stick around for a long time and put up alot of points. It seems like the back court log jam of the Blazers is starting to thin out, so I would expect him to get alot of minutes this year and put up great numbers.

Bayless easily he’s 3 years younger more athletic and put identical numbers for a better team. Just think what he’s doing by the time he’s Douglas’s age (2013-14 season).

This question is tougher than you would initially imagine but in the long run Toney Douglas is probably going to be a career 2nd string PG, where-as Bayless has the potential to be a legit starter

Bayless is 2 years younger, Douglas didn’t play for long periods of time last year probably the same as Bayless didn’t in his 1st year.
Douglas is the better defender and shooter rite now, Bayless is bigger and does well to get to the rim at will sumtimes.
Bayless will probably be a beter starter.
Can’t go wrong with Douglas he was the 29th pick.

I went to FSU for a while, during TD’s Junior and senior year. That guy is the man. People do not realize how strong, quick, or tough he is on defense. He will be a starter at PG for most of his career. SOOO underrated, but thats his whole game. You sleep on him for whatever reason and he kills you.

Bayless is a better player. Once he get consistent 20-25min a game, he will put you like 13-15pts. He could be a starter if he can play with a tall combo like Roy, Evans or Evan Turner. If that’s the case, he could score 18-20 a game

I’m sorry canesboy6 but I don’t think Douglas has the skills to be any more than an average “serviceable” PG at best. He’ s just not a PG. He has potential to be a very good backup swing guard because as a tweener he can kind of play both positions but I don’t ever see him excelling as a starting point guard.

I think Bayless will prove to be the better scorer, but he hasn’t had the opportunity to play a whole lot. Theres been a ton of hype around him since he tore up summer league after he got drafted, but until this past season he never really had the opportunity to showcase it. I think Douglas has the ability to be a better point guard. In stretches where he was getting a lot of minutes last season he would put up solid assist numbers and better defensive numbers as well, while Bayless would drop 30 one night, but not really distribute the ball too well, and he has yet to prove his shot selction is very good. Douglas is a scorer too, but his experience although he has one less year in the league shows itself as far as his shot selection and defense go. I like Douglas as the better all around career, but I think Bayless will be the better scorer.

Bayless has the potential to be a borderline all star and Douglas potential is close to that but I feel Douglas could reach his potential a lot sooner and more likely than Bayless. Douglas can play defense and has decent point guard skills.

I love Douglas but this isn’t even close, Bayless was a lottery pick a few years ago the guy has the ability to become a star if given freedom. Toney on the other hand is going to have a very solid career, most likely as a great back up on a solid playoff team but he does not have the potential of bayless.
