Lotto StudParticipantIs Toney Douglas underrated or what. I’m glad the Lakers gave his rights up to the Knicks, because all they would have done was sat on him and wasted his talent, which they have they tendency to do.

delfamParticipanthe’s a sixth man that’s use to score. I don’t see him being able to start anywhere without being a good passer but he is a great spark plug in the mold of Lou Williams.

sheltwon3ParticipantDouglas playmaking ability is not quite point guard level as yet but he can make some plays and handle the ball like a point guard. I think in a few seasons, he could be like Billups. Billups did not come into the league as a true point guard. He was a scorer in college but over the years he developed into a solid point guard.

MkadozaParticipantHe’s everything you want in a guard off the bench. He’s a defensive stopper, he’s an advanced scorer, and provides great energy and little drop off. He’s very quick without being terribly explosive, and has quick hands and feet. I love his game. And if he was on the Lakers he would be perfect playing along Kobe and Pau, two very good passers, so he can concentrate on knocking down open shots and guard PG so Kobe doesnt have to. Douglas has the size and strength to guard any PG in the league.

bkballerParticipantHes better than Lou Williams because he is one of the best defensive guards in the league, if he had playmaking ability he would have the potential to be a top 5 PG. Instead he can easily be a Ben Gordon with defense.

stanford hoopsGood player. I like the Lou Williams type comparison. Good defender but that’s pushing it to say he’s one of the best defenders in the leauge which he isn’t

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantShewlton called him Billups and Bkballer said he’d be a top 5 Pg if he had some play making ability…Wow…How overrated is this Guy…

mattholdenbrownParticipantToney Douglas should start. If u disagree u havnt watched him play that much, he did great when they stared him as a ROOKIE.

stanford hoopsAnd there is the problem. Some knicks fans will overrate a knicks player. Toney is good and prob could start on some teams but he’s best as a backup on a playoff team. He’s still only in his second year so he can get better but it’s pushing it to say he can be billups. How many guards come in from college as a scoring point guard and end up like billups? Chances/percentages are very slim/low that he will ever be like billups. Much more likely he could be like Bobby Jackson though

bkballerParticipantPlaymaking is very important for a PG, I didn’t say some playmaking. If he was a GOOD playmaker he would have the POTENTIAL to be a top 5 pg. If you don’t think he is one of the better defending GUARDS you clearly have not watched him play.
The words in CAPS are the ones that you so conviniently decided to have selective reading for.

stanford hoopsAlso I think he may be one of the steals of the draft but I wouldn’t say he is THE steal of the draft considering second rounders

stanford hoopsWe all have watched him play and we all know from past experience that you are a very biased knick fan so of course you are gonna overrate a knick player. It’s not the first time you have done that. Do you recall Sergio rodrigez? You thought he was much better then he actually was. The same with Billy walker. So it’s no suprise that YOU and some other knick fans think he’s better than he is. That’s the common theme only the knick fans rate him higher then everyone else
Also he’s a scoring point guard ala Bobby Jackson

stanford hoopshe scores more because he’s on a less talented team then the other three. And his team is built around scoring a bunch of points and shooting alot of threes
Chase has to compete with Kevin Martin, Aron Brooks yao, scola
Marcus- cp3,David west
Blair-Parker,Duncan,Manu,YaoSo I think it might be a tad easier for Toney to score more on the knicks then those guys on the other teams
Also you compare by the whole body of work not just the first 5 games of this year. So like I said ONE of the steals of the draft would be more accurate

bkballerParticipantI have never overatted sergio or walker. All I might have said about sergio is that hes better than duhon and I stand by that because Duhon is trash. I have also never mentioned walker, i am actually not much of a fan because he takes bad shots.

bkballerParticipantNot sure how competing with players that dont play the same position applies here. Reason Douglas has had those numbers is hes been doing it efficiently, not because he takes a majority of the shots. He was efficient last year too with less opportunity.

stanford hoopsWho gave lopez a free pass? There are post about lopez bad rebounding. The difference is nets fans agree. Someone says something bad about a knick and you get all butt hurt and act like no one else has watched the knicks game but you unless they agree with you. Maybe people get on Amare because knicks fans say he’s wayyy better than David lee was as a knick even though they both weren’t good defenders lee rebounded better turned the ball over less was more efficiant and had comparable scoring numbers. Or maybe because when someone says something negitive about nets players or other teams players the fans don’t go crazy and start calling the guy a hater
Like when u said Sergio has shown he’s a third string. Back up
Point guard at best. And you swore he was a legit starter. And sorry he hasn’t proven to be better then duhon just more flashy which might be the reason teams didn’t go after him this year but they did go after duhon0 - Posted on: Sat, 11/06/2010 - 11:43am #429210
