When there is smoke there is usually fire, so I’m thinking if Chicago were to not get to the Eastern Conference Finals that Thibodeau would get the axe. I think he’d probably be a good fit in Minnesota. It’s a horrible defensive team with some promising defensive guys like Wiggins and Dieng. So who else would want Thibodeau? Would Chicago really fire him?

If Chicago fires Tibs that will be the stupidest move of all time for their organization. (and that uncludes Krause pushing MJ out so he could play Chandler and Curry together) If the Bulls lose Tibs they should just give up on winning a ship altogether.

You do NOT get rid of a top 5 coach in the NBA. If anything they need to give him MORE power in roster choices.

As a die hard Bulls fan, if they do this, Gar Forman had better be ready to lose a lot of fans and revenue. I stuck it out with them through the dark ages not knowing when an end would come. Once Thibs took the reins, it’s been a different, more positive atmosphere. To end that with no end game or supplement for it is just plain dumb. Who could possibly come in and do more than what Thibs has done??????

I can understand you not liking that move, but anything the Bulls lose will be tiny. That team makes money no matter if they are good or bad. Fans always show up.

I am a Bulls and Thibs fan, and I say for Thibs sake, I hope they do fire him.  There has been tension between Gar/Pax and Thibs for years and it did not help when Gar decided to fire Thibs’ head assistant coach (Adams) a couple of years ago.  It is also clear that Gar/Pax are not enamored with the amount of minutes (playing and practicing) that Thibs demands.  And, this is not the first time Gar/Pax has meddled with the amount of minutes the head coach is playing as they did the same thing with VDN.

My only thing is, Gar/Pax better have a plan as to the next head coach because Thibs, while demanding, is an excellent coach and will not be on the street very long and the Bulls have enough talent that they should be competing for championships.

I have much respect for Coach Thibs, but i beleive with his style of coaching the window to win championships is quick. He demands hard work in practice and as well as games, but his in your face style wears thin in the NBA as time goes on. Very similar to Scott Skiles, who has a very similar style, and his teams always improve but over time his sytle just wears the team down. If no championship for the BULLS this year i think its best they part ways before it gets very very ugly.

Zero chance Thibs is fired.  Funny post too coming from a Wolves fan and saying he’d be a perfect fit in Minnesota.  Go figure.  Sorry buddy, you won’t be getting Thibs as your coach, ever.

You’re just butt hurt that the Wolves could get Wiggins for Love. Hate all you want. He never said perfect fit; he said probably a good fit. If you think there’s a zero chance Thibs get fired than something’s wrong with you. I guess a wolf is up your ass.

Expectations were and are very high for the Bulls this season. Anything less than a trip to Eastern Conference Finals will be considered a disappointment. I believe they will get there. Atlanta is playing the best ball in the conference now. Whether they keep it up remains to be seen. Cleveland is the only other team I see in the East that concerns me. Any team with their talent has to be taken seriously.

Thibs is a very demanding coach. When teams “buy in” to his system, they play over their heads. This season is perplexing. We have the best roster that he has ever coached in Chicago and are losing to inferior teams regularly and are mediocre at home. Bulls have had injuries, but that’s no excuse. All teams have them. We have played to the level of the opposition, which is usually a sign that players aren’t buying in anymore.

Demanding coaches usually have a shelf life of 3-5 years. Thibs is at the end of that shelf life. There has been a dis-connect with Gar/Pax for a long time. It’s best if coach and front office have a better working relationship. Clearly, it will never happen in Chicago.

If the Bulls fall short of expectations, I think the Thibodeaux era may be over. I believe he is one of the top 3-5 head coaches in the business and would hate to see him leave. Personally, I would keep him regardless of the outcome of the season. He is THAT good of a coach. However, if they don’t want to keep him, the Bulls better hire a good coach who has a better relationship with the front office. If let go, they should also trade him and get a draft pick like the Celtics did in the Doc Rivers/Clippers deal.

With or without Thibodeaux, the Bulls have a very bright future! Rose is getting healthy, Butler is deserving of most improved player, and has been for 3 years in a row! Gasol, Noah, Gibson and Mirotic gives them 4 quality bigs. They also have the right to flip 1st rd. picks with the Cavs and a top 10 protected 1st rd. pick from Kings (currently #9). McDermott and other pieces add to the mix. Thib’s calling card is
defense. If the players buy in again and start playing the way they are capable, the Bulls can win the East and be among the conference’s top teams for the next 5-7 years. Imo, Thibs should remain as coach. He can take them where they want to go!

Amazing to think Thibs spent 21 years as an Assistant Coach before finally getting his chance at a top job.If he did move on from the Bulls, he’d be a top contender for any vacant job. I wonder if his issues are more with Forman than Paxson and it could almost be a battle between those two.

Paxson was a Bulls player for a decade and has been in the front office since 2003 as GM and then VP Basketball Operations and is pretty much a Bulls legend. Forman spent many years as a scout before becoming GM rather like Thibs being an Assistant for years so I wonder if it could almost be a Thibs/Forman power battle.

If Thibs did move on, I could possibly see him hooking up with Doc Rivers again at the Clippers, Doc is President of Basketball Operations so could hand over the coaching riole to Thibs or maybe give Thibs a lead assistant and front office role to back up Doc and share the work load.

Also Gregg Popovich turned 66 years old this week and cannot go on forever or might move "upstairs" so Thibs would be a great fit for the Spurs.

Coaches like Tom are similar to Jim Harbough in the NFL in that their approach becomes too intense after a while and players start tuning them out. These coaches, although exceptional and can make a huge difference, only have a lifespan of about 5 years.  Sadly, during those five years, Rose has been out a lot and they have not been able to reach their potential. With Rose at 100%, I’m confident, they would have won at least one title. I think Thibs needs to move on. I think the TWolves would be his best option as they are loaded with young talent and they should be getting a high draft pick this year. The TWolves in 5 five years with Thibodeau should be a dangerous playoff team.

Flip is doing two roles at the T-Wolves, Thibs would be a good fit in the coaching role and he’d have great young talent to develop.

As a Celtics fan I can say this would be such a blow to the Chicago Bulls organization if they let Thibs go. Thibs was amazing for the Celtics, and is heralded as one of the greatest defensive minds in Basketball. And what’s that saying again? Defense wins, what? Exactly.

I think if you look at his track record too, how players like KG, Noah, and Butler have undieing loyalty to the guy, and for good reason. He gets the most out of his players, even if it’s scrutenized.

If they do give him the axe, I would like for it to be after another coach is shipped out of town. That coach being Scott Brooks. I can only imagine what kind of havoc Thibs could reek on the league with KEvin Durant, Ibaka, Westbrook, and all those young guns. It would finally give the Thunder a coach with compidense, and the team an identity
