festar35ParticipantSo George Hill and CJ Watson to miss 3 weeks and Sloan will start at PG. West will miss first 3 games at least and Stuckey may or may not be there for opener.
What do you think Indiana will do?
I can’t help but wonder if Larry is slowly contemplating what he can get for Hibbert and West maybe Scola as well.
I still want to see them compete, but the season start will be brutal I am sure and really just make chemistry a problem with people in and out of the line up.

llperezthey arent competing this year at all. Im not normally a proponent of starting over when you are on the cusp of competing, but i just think west is getting older and hibbert has regressed and with lance gone this window probably has closed and maybe they should see what they can get for guys and hope for a good pick this year then start fresh when george gets back. Problem is unless hibbert gets off to a great start, his trade value is zero. He has 30 million coming these next 2 seasons and at that price, i wouldnt give up a second rounder for him. If anything indiana might have to package other pieces or take on a bad contract in return to get someone to take him off their hands.

IndianaBasketballParticipantAs a Pacers fan, I’m definitely feeling some type of way. At one point not too long ago, there was so much positive momentum. Now, it’s all come crashing down so quickly.
Larry Bird has always talked about "staying the course". He’s serious about it too since he gave Frank Vogel an extension. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t make any major moves this season. There’s little to no market for Roy Hibbert. The same goes for George Hill, mainly because he’s owed $8 million per season until 2016/2017. There’s probably a market for David West, but I can’t see Bird trading him unless he requested to be traded to a contender or something. The most likely candidate to be traded is Luis Scola. He’s still a solid power forward and his conract his expiring. His contract is also not fully guaranteed. Maybe Chris Copeland could be traded.
Hopefully, the Pacers are bad enough this season to land a top pick in next year’s draft.

festar35ParticipantI feel there is a market for the big fella, very few play defence like he does.
The team I keep thinking of is NYK, he is a rather skilled big and would do fairly well in the triangle and not too mention bring a lot on D. Indiana could grab expiring Bargnani and 2nd rounder.
If they cleared cap they could go after Monroe to pair with George as a young inside/outside tandem and hopefully a lottery pick in there to get a wing like Johnson, Levert, Oubre or Jefferson.
I like Simmons call of West for a young PF like Zeller (Cha), Jones (Hou) or Patterson (Tor)
2015 – Hill, Rookie/Miles, George, Zeller/Jones/Patterson, Monroe

IndianaBasketballParticipantUnless Marc Gasol declares he’s re-signing with the Grizzlies and/or not interested in the Knicks, I can’t see them trading for Roy Hibbert and his $15.5 million owed next season. The Knicks will be major players in free-agency next summer and Gasol would be a perfect fit for the triangle.
I’d hate to see David West gone, but a trade makes sense for him and us, plus there’s no doubt he has very good trading value. I could see Larry Bird jumping all over the opportunity to bring Cody Zeller to the Pacers. Not only would Zeller be a young big to re-build with, it’d be a great public relations move. The Hornets would have to throw another player in the trade to make the salaries match. Maybe Gerald Henderson? I like Thomas Jones a lot, but I don’t think West would want to play with James Harden and Dwight Howard.
I hope Bird is able to move George Hill somehow. I think Bird is up to something though lol. He’s been raving extremely hard about how hard Hill’s worked this summer and how he’s so impressed with how much better Hill has gotten. I think he’s trying to drive up his trading value lol.
I wonder how Paul George would feel about these potential trades? George Hill and Roy Hibbert are like his best friends. I think Hill lives like right next to him.

festar35ParticipantI still dont see the sense in trading Hill, I think as long as he is aggressive he can still be the Pacers PG. 12/13 season he was fantastic and he looks after his body I can see him having a long-term career and think he just fits well in Indiana.

rich.homie.mitchParticipantI wouldn’t see the point of trading anybody except for Scola and West. The Pacers should just repeat what the Spurs did in the 96-97 season, Robinson went down and they pretty much tanked the whole season and got the #1 pick in the draft and got Duncan. The pacers are going to be pretty bad this season and it’s not like this draft is shallow. No one would want Hills contract anyways.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI know it’s against the 76ers, but Roy Hibbert looks phenomenal tonight. Defensively, he’s one of the best at protecting that rim.
22 points on 8 shots, 8 rebounds and 7 blocks. 10-13 FT.

festar35ParticipantHe was fantastic, again my concern is the fact indiana may need to build are new Contender window and that may take 2-3 years putting Hibbert at 31. I still think moving him for cap space and getting 24 year old Monroe would be something they should try.
That’d be George and Monroe at 27yrs and peaking for a potwntial run.
