I can see Minnesota trading into the early second round for one particular player… Cameron Oliver. In my mind he fits their team perfectly. He can stretch the floor, make hustle plays and play solid defense all at a position which in 2 seasons will be pretty empty on the bench with the absense of Payne and Nemanja. This is just speculation but if the Timberwolves do target Oliver could they select someone like Ntilikina with the lotto pick? I feel like Monk is not what the team needs as he is a duplicate of what Zach LaVine produces and stats show the T-Wolves are better without LaVine. On the other hand Ntilikina can play and guard both back court positions and has a higher ceiling, better defensive potential and a better looking jumper than Kris Dunn but that doesn’t mean Dunn shouldn’t be on the team.

A T-Wolves team like this could look very nice especially with free agent additions:

    PG – Rubio, Dunn, Jones

    SG – LaVine, Ntilikina

    SF – Wiggins, Muhammed, Rush

    PF – Dieng, Oliver

    C- Towns, Aldrich

Thibodeau needs more shooters and I mean shooter who can run off screens.. (KAT will have an easier time in the post with shooters opening things up) Cam Oliver would be a great fit defensively but will struggle playing in the half court for Thibodeau.. Olivers Skill set is much more suited in a high tempo attack.. Phoenix, Oklahoma City and Brooklyn would be great fits for Cam.. Big Fan of Cams game

he withdrew his name from the draft and isnt the two way player that Oliver is, but Bennie Boatright out of USC couldve been a nice fit. He’s a cerebral stretch 4 with some athletic limitations that he makes up for with his general IQ and ability to make the d guard him 22+ feet from the hoop.

Kyle Kuzma is a very similar player that I could see them targetting in the second as well. I’d take Cam over either but I also think he’ll be the first one off the board out of these three IMO.

sidenote: man oh man do I hope that Georges Niang can carve out a role for himself in the league. He reminds me of this group of players slightly but is a truly unique player.  The only reason i bring him up is bc of the potential fit in Minny if they really were looking for a stretch 4.  I cant imagine Thibs being too high on him though…

For some reason Ive always thought Georges Niang will eventually become a Spurs and play for Popavich.
