Lotto StudParticipantOutside of Steven Adams being the dominant post presence, OKC lacks production inside. Serge Ibaka is really hurting the team at the moment. He has yet to become a force inside after heat checking in the early start from the perimeter.
From the looks of Adams and Jones cooking up from the inside-out, it appeared as if Westbrook would be able to ignite from the mid-range and flourish in transition. The pace is really slow and it shows, because they are mirroring Spurs ball.

fastdanParticipantIbaka has never been a post guy nor is he good at being one. His value comes from his ability to spread the floor, letting WB amd KD attack. Would you really prefer having a mediocre post player take touches away from two of the best iso/creating guys in the league? I just don’t see a good agruement there.
I’m not sure what your trying to point out with Jones and Adams on the floor, but their pace was pretty much their league average, which itself is very average, so I wouldn’t call it ‘really slow’.
I do agree Adams is becoming dominat inside. He looked great against Duncan and even made him show frustration at times, something very few players have ever managed to do.

Lotto StudParticipantThe entire post was based off the First Quarter performance heading into the Second. I’m very aware of Ibaka’s tendency, but as stated prior to your response, he was hurting the team at that moment.

I don’t see what you are justifying either. You are debating a lost cause overall, because this post has nothing to do with the season as a whole. I’m speaking on today’s performance. If the title of the thread happened to mislead you, I apologize for the confusion. Perry Jones is what he is at this stage. He’s a finesse-big that plays small in all facets of his game. I still like him, although he’s not the player everyone expected him to become as a Prep.
As far as the slow pace reference goes. Westbrook was not attacking in transition, which is what sets the tone for play while Durant is out. At the end of the day, they all came together to pull out the win, but mirroring Popovich’s scheme today took the flow away to really pull away early on.

Miko4rm206ParticipantOKC has never had a Dominant post player since Shawn Kemp maybe Vin Baker. You can’t expect the 26th pick in the Draft to develop into a Dominant low post Scorer! Especially not with KD and Russell. Reason why James Harden left. Okc is Russell and KDs team point blank period. Serge has his monuments he’s a great Paint defender that can stretch the floor habit and complements well to Russell and Kd. If you expect him to turn into LAMarcus Aldridge or All Jefferson thats not gonna happen. Nor will they get somebody that dominant in a Trade. Sorry to burst your bubble.

ExumInfernoParticipantThe Thunder should be able to find a cheap inside scorer. That would add some balance to their team. When the Celtics won they had Leon Powe, the Pistons had Corliss Williamson, for the playoffs it is good to have mroe inside scoring. Maybe they thought McGary would help there. OKC could make a trade, or sign a veteran free agent to have another scoring option in the paint.

OhCanada-ParticipantI would not use the word dominant to describe Adams. He’s more annoying than anything.

Lotto StudParticipantHe displayed "Psycho-T fits" today. Very physical against The Fundamental in the paint.

DolanCareParticipantI think it’s time to accept that Ibaka will never be a low-block scorer. It’s hard to say why he hasn’t developed in this regard, but he simply hasn’t and has had ample opportunity to do so.
But a big who can shoot from 17 feet is still very useful, if Scott Brooks knew how to run an offense he’d be much more of a threat. Unfortunately, Scott Brooks offensive game plan is for Russ and Durant to take turns scoring.

The Voice of ReasonParticipantPeople should stop focusing on what Ibaka can’t do and pay attention to what he can do. Ibaka is a very, very good shooter. See here for more on that. His shooting is more valuable to OKC than post scoring because, as fastdan wisely mentioned, his ability to bring his defender outside opens up the lane for two of the best attacking players in the NBA. Ibaka is a wonderful player who fits like a glove.

Lotto StudParticipantWhat part of the original post don’t you comprehend?
I clearly stated that I were speaking on that very game being played. You all pick and choose what to decipher versus analyzing what was said.
