SubZeroParticipantDon’t call tonight a choke. You can’t do anything about the 3s they were hitting, and if the refs gave us that jump ball like they should’ve instead of that time out than things might’ve turned out differently. Game 6 took the best shooting game in playoff history to win and game 5 was a home game, so don’t call it a choke. Let’s not forget, OKC was expected to get bounced in 5 or 6 and we won 3 out of 4 against a team that lost 9 games all season and was perhaps the best regular season team ever. I’d rather give Golden State credit (no matter how much I hate them) instead of saying we choked

OhCanada-ParticipantWe always talk about legacy and is this player the goat, top 5, top 10 etc. when we bring up Lebron or Curry. All I know is Durant’s legacy really looks bad, but Instill think he is an amazing player. It just seems like him and Westbrook are the Stockton and Malone of this era. They are great, they play great but they keep running into a next level of greatness or injuries.
Hats off to OKC for beating the Spurs and making 95% of fans give up on GSW prematurely. But man the Warriors are just truly one of the best basketball teams ever and as a whole NBA fans have to stop doubting them. They’ve done this they do this and it’s gonna be pretty boring when they keep beating everyone for the next 3 years or more so people are gonna try to discredit them and find itty bitty flaws.

SubZeroParticipantI made that Stock-Malone comparison earlier to one of my friends. I feel for those 90s Utah fans now…finally got fully healthy since our last Finals trip and barely lost to one of the best 3 or 4 teams ever (still like the 90s Bulls and 80s Celtics and Lakers better lol)

OhCanada-ParticipantAnd yah can’t really say they choked. GSW just made magic happen with those last two games but I mean come on…what did you expect to happen at the magic show?

ExumInfernoParticipantThe players lost composure over the last few games, the coach forgot what worked and did some silly things, referres missed a few calls on Green and Curry which hurt the Thunder, but maybe the big thing was that Westbrook and Durant took turns on being the one to win all by themselves and had some terrible plays.
Maybe Durant will decide, but it does look like Durant needs a calmer point guard and Westbrook needs another scorer on his team who will defer to him.
Game 7 was Westbrook failing, Game 6 was both, Game 5 was Durant.
For OKC, this is a bigger loss than when the Heat got them in the finals.
The Thunder had a very good season, but that doesn’t matter now.

Evan_MilbergParticipantWhen push comes to shove, old habits die hard. I honestly think after the Warriors won game 5, Westbrook and Durant panicked and lost what made them dominant. Russ became the old Russ – taking ridiculous shots, playing recklessly and turning the ball over way too much. And Durant, as he’s shown in these situations, became passive. When those things happen, and OKCs role players essentially disappear, they lose. OKC is a better rebounding team, but Golden State just has too many weapons. Ibaka and Adams played well, but they seriously lack backcourt depth. I don’t think you can say OKC choked – they just ran out of gas.

NZBennyParticipantThe Thunder were the better team when they committed to playing the pick and roll, but they too often in the last three games went iso and stopped scoring. Still, the Dubs won this game, and with the way they shoot from three they really are a different sort of beast to any team before them. Never before has a team truly been able to reach a level where defenses best hope is that they miss. If Klay and Steph are hitting threes, its game over.

CavFanPRParticipantThunder ran out of gas. That Kanter contract looks awful. They didn’t give Harden max money but they’re paying a bench player 14m and barely gets minutes.
Should’ve used that money for some bench help at the guard positions. Waiters didn’t produce when it mattered although he played well overall.
Warriors bench was a big reason they won this series.

NZBennyParticipantThat’s a bizarre set of reasoning given that the Thunder bench generally outplayed the Warriors all series. The Warriors won because their best two players outperformed the Thunder’s best two players. Also, Waiters was brilliant all series in a support role. His defense was consistently great and he was a tertiary ball handler who actually passed near the hoop (the big development in his game).
I also dont get why the Harden vs. Kanter argument exists. Yes, the Thunder should have kept Harden, and if they knew how the cap was going to explode they would have. However, Kanter was signed in a different off season, and the Thunder were capped out last offseason and will be for the forseeable future with extensions coming for Durant, Westbrook, Adams (hopefully) and Waiters (maybe). Sicne the Thunder were over the cap last season they were only able to sign Kanter or let him walk and sign a minimum contract replacement. That means that unless the Kanter contract forces the Thunder to not sign one of those guys it is by definition a net benefit since it was him or no-one. Also, just last series he was one of the key reasons why the Thunder won. Just because he has low value against the small-ball warriors does not mean he has no value at all.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThis one really hurts for OKC. They outplayed gs for the majority of this series and basically had it won. The final 6 mins of game 6 and third quarter of game 7 are going to haunt them for a long time. When gs made their runs ( which they are almost always going to do) okc got frantic and were not able to stem the tide.
This team is still young and will likely be here again provided Westbrook and Durant stick around. However, they let a golden opportunity slip away and you can never take for granted you’ll get that opportunity back.

TarHeelRavenParticipantThe Thunder didnt choke, the Warriors took it from them. They had their backs against the wall down 3-1 and they showed that they are true champions fighting back.
