Lotto StudParticipantWayns has sad he will return to Nova, but do you think he should come out with it being a weak PG class especially in Round 1? Is he actually 6’2”?

B FreeParticipantI think with another year under his belt if he improves again next season he can be a top ten pick, It usually works out better for the player when he comes back for another year instead of leaving before he is ready.

scoutguruParticipantI think its a good decision for him. He probably was going to be a late 1st to early 2nd rd pick. Not only that, his decision making at times was extremely questionable. Although he’s improved a bit from his freshman year where he was going 100 mph every time he got the ball, he still has a long way to go in terms of controlling pace and understanding when to force the action and when to get his team into a set and run some offense. He also took way too many ill-advised 3’s when that certainly isn’t his strength. His shot mechanics could also use some work, its like he shoots the ball differently everytime he goes up for a shot. Just needs more experience manning the point and practice working on his shot, and he should be good next year, should be a lotto pick. I like his strength, his speed in transition, and his ability to break down a defense and get in the paint, and set up his teammates. I could see him having a breakout Kemba Walker type year next season, since they had the same weaknesses after their 1st 2 years. I do think Wayans is more of a pure pg though.
And yeah, no way he’s 6’2. I give him 6’0…after rounding up.

ghettosermonParticipantHe can definitely skyrocket his draft stock next year as it will be his team no doubt. Nova loses Corey fisher, Corey Stokes, and Antonio Pena. I will say though that the way Nova has been attrocious to end of years doesn’t bode well for his draft stock. With no major recruits outside of Tyrone Johnson who is another PG, next years Nova team will be the same as this years team except they lose 3 of their top 4 scorers. It’s going to be a hell of a challenge for Wayans to keep Nova a top 25 team. Top returning scorers other than Wayans will be Yarou and Cheek who are both defensive specialists with limited offensive skill. I think Nova will struggle mighitily to score next year. Wayans is going to have to pull a Kemba Walker for Nova to stay in the upper half of the big east.
