Gotta say… if I’m a Charlotte fan I’m not feeling super excited about the Kaminsky pick from last year’s draft. Sure, the threat of him being able to shoot a respectable 34% from three (on 2.5 attempts per game) is a nice perk, but the rest of his game hasn’t lended itself to team success on a Hornet’s squad that’s falling out of the playoff picture fast. Since Plumlee & Zeller went down, Charlotte has lost a lot of games… including 5 straight. Frank is shooting under 40% overall from the field, and will turn 24yo in April.

Granted he’s shown some growth a couple of times in Feb… he dropped 27pts against TOR on the 15th. Also he had 20&8 against the Clipps on the 11th. But overall he’s had a massive opportunity to show why Charlotte valued him sooooo much in last year’s draft and has not demonstrated the ability to significantly contribute toward W’s in Buzz City (that Boston offer was ridiculous by the way, per ESPN’s Zach Lowe). Defensively, he’s a turnstill & just doesn’t seem to body-up his man in the paint well at all for rebounds or contesting shots. And he’s a big dude.

Is the threat of his 3-pointer that much of a net positive when you consider the holes in the rest of his game??

The Hornets lost 12 out of their last 13 so it does kind of appear that Franks numbers are a bit empty. He has shown glimpses but the Sixers game I watched of his he was downright awful…I think he was 0-10 from the field to start…to his credit he kept shooting and ended shooting like 33 percent for the game but he had already shot them out of it.

He is pretty much like Okafor from a defensive liability standpoint…he just isn’t a player you want playing huge minutes because other than his occassional offensive outburst he doesn’t bring much to the table. He seems better suited as a 6th man.

Honestly, i had higher hopes for Roy Hibbert & Spencer Hawes.

I don’t ill ever understand how he got drafted over Booker, Oubre, Turner & Winslow.

Winslow was seen as a MKG clone-Good defense, good team player(Also as winner) and bad/average shooting Mechanics.

Turner -teams had concerns about his running gate which = possibility of injuries making him have a short career..Biomechanics can lead to injuries piling up fast..I think it was something due to his Hamstrings?

Oubre at 9 was a reach he was pretty raw in his first year but does look alright this year under brooks..

Booker I really wanted him to go there as I thought he would have been a nice fit with Kemba and he had more potential I saw the Rip/Klay talent. I was really surprised he slid all the way to 13 and gutted he went one pick to high leaving us Cam Payne instead ..

As for Frank he was probaly seen as two things a safe pick who was ready now and as the in vogue stretch 4 ala K-love mold. Me personally I saw to much Spencer Hawes in him and didn’t understand the reach for him at 9…

At 23 I haven’t given up on him becoming a good big man down the road – I too see some Hawes in him – I have been satisfied with his IQ and his fundamentals but his shooting percentage going down from last year is worrying to me.

He was a four student and had a good tournament beating a stacked Kentucky team and bullying Okafor in the final game. Making him most peoples eyes a almost finished product. Are his IQ and Shot respectable I would say yes, however the biggest issue is the Defense may never catch up due to limited physical gifts…

There will be/have been some progress as he will receive better coaching at the next level(well you would hope there is) so he may get slightly better, but compare that to a Booker or Turner who had way more potential and room for growth and it becomes a little clearer why he will be good but not great down the line.. I personally see him as a good rotation player/6th man type on a contender or a fringe starter on a bad/average team as his ceiling..

Everyone knew they were gonna pick him ahead of Turner and Portis and everyone knew it was gonna be a big mistake.  They are really regretting that pick. Although he is a good situational player and has some upside they want him to be more than a rotation player and I just don’t see it.

I pretty much agree with what the guys above have said, Frank the Tank has a good offensive game but on rebounding and defence he is a liability. For a 7 foot guy to only average 4.5rpg is a poor return. Hopefully the Hornets find the best way to make use of his shooting and scoring going forward and he has Pat Ewing there to help develop his game too.
