Saw this, surprised nobody has talked about it yet,on the number one site in terms of prospects. Arguably one of the most intriguing prospect in the country, planning to leave High school this year. Still not sure if he’ll play in the NCAA or overseas though. Considering some of you follow recuiting much more than me,I wanted to know your thoughts on this.0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/19/2015 - 4:15am #967570

HitsterParticipantGuys with his skillset and size are fairly rare so I would say he becomes a Top 5 at least default on most 2016 mock drafts if he did declare next year.
A lot will depend who declares when etc, looking at Aran’s 2016 mock draft, I’d slot Maker in at 3 behind Brown and Simmons at this moment.

MopgrassParticipantI’ve got:
1) Thon Maker 2) Jaylen Brown 3) Ben Simmons
Brown still might be the best, but Maker’s physical gifts put him in rare territory.

evantomesParticipantThon is a unique talent for sure but I don’t think he’s a number one pick. Despite having a nice supporting cast, his team still loses to inferior teams. At this point, Jamal Murray is Orangeville’s most valuable player.

phila9012ParticipantI don’t understand why so many elite prospects keep getting held back in 8th grade. Wiggins was held back, drummond as well and probably more, like shabazz muhammed must have been held back, he was almost 20 when he left high school and probably a good amount of others I am surprised this stuff isn’t getting more coverage. It is a big advantage staying back in 8th grade especially for other sports when that extra year could give you a small edge which can determine whether or not you get a scholarship.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantTo be fair Wiggins and Drummond don’t really deserve to be grouped with Shabazz, Wiggins doesnt turn 20 for a couple of days. Played most of his freshman season as an 18 year old and most of his senior season in HS as a 17 year old. Drummond was still 17 when he finished HS.

Andrew1984ParticipantI’m hoping to get a good look at him at the Nike Hoop Summit. The World rosters will be announced next month.

HitsterParticipantIs the NBA dtaft rule a player is only eligible when he is a year removed from graduating HS or is it he has to be 19 years old at least in draft year?

evantomesParticipantThey must be at least one year removed from their high school class and at least 19 during the calendar year of the draft. If he would not have played at Carlisle for two years, he would be eligible to enter this year as an international player.
