redsoxfreak724ParticipantBased on his size and skill set, its the flashes of brilliance…more of what he COULD potentially do, not what he can do at this very minute

HaleParticipantThe fact that he built his game on the perimeter first is why I’m a good deal lower on him then most. He’s nowhere near the shooter to be playing that way with his length advantage.

ConsiderableUpsideParticipantSure, it would be even more intriguing if he was 260 instead of 206, but he is still a hell of a prospect. There are plenty of players whith smaller frames who have been good in the L…it is a concern though. Joakim Noah was painfully skinny in high school, and really only started to bulk up during his pro career. KG was skinny but developed that wiry strength to dominate defensively in the paint, even as his game remained mostly perimeter oriented. Now not everybody can be those guys, but it sounds like Maker has enough other tools that he won’t need to drastically change his body.
Could he project as a small forward? Sounds to me like that could be his best position especially with his reported ability as a perimeter defender. I havn’t seen him play though so I don’t have a clear picture of his potential.

MopgrassParticipantA smart, 4.0 (roughly) achieving, hard worker? I never bet against a kid like that. Especially a 7’1″ one with serious length and athleticism.

ropeParticipantEven though I sort of loath assessing a player via mixtape, that is basically what I have seen of the guy. As far as highlights and visual evidence that he can pull of some of the stuff claimed at least occasionally, his highlights are about as good as any. Like a lot of posters point out, in the long term who can you defend. His contemporaries in the post is going to be guys like Jahlil Okafor and Dakari Johnson and his competition at PF might include anyone from Cliff Alexander to Ben Simmons. Will he develop whatever physical attributes necessary to play defense on his counterpart will be the biggest question in his NBA ceiling.

CU.LIONSParticipantMy one concern, (and it’s a big one.) is that like his fellow country men, Bol, and many others from Sudan (many High school kids came through a school in LI NY) is his very slight bone structure make it very hard, if not almost impossible to gain weight and/or strength . I am also concerned that he will be more injury prone as well.
I do love his story and will be pulling for him. Hopefully he can fulfill his high potential and become a great face up PF in the NBA. time will tell.
