chocboywndrParticipantI am wondering what will happen with Thomas Robinson if measures less than 6’10" if he comes out be closer to 6’8" how much does that effect his draft stock. Every draft guys seem to shrink, if he goes from PF/C to PF/SF does he drop from #2 pick.

goneParticipantHeight won’t give him anymore post moves or a better jumper. He’s my boy we from the same city I hung out with him a couple times but he is not worthy of being top 3. Winning makes prospects seems better than they really are just like it did for Kemba walker

Future_Scouthe is more of a sf/pf than pf/c already

seniokasParticipantHe is a 4, period. He will never be a 3 and he is too small to be 5.
Actually, I think it’s great when player understands his strenghts and weaknesses and plays at the position that fits him the best. Robinson is a great example of it, before the season there were some talks, that he thinks about working on perimeter skills or smth, but he didn’t do this mistake and played where he can play at his best. At the same time I look at Perry Jones III and think to myself what the hell he is doing sometimes, he can be extremely efficient just has to play to his strenghts. Every time he tried to play as a face-up 4 and be aggresive, atack of the dribble he either draw fouls or scored points. Players have to find their bread and butter and not to try play at positions where they actually aren’t fitting.

festar35ParticipantAntawn Jamison seemed to make it work, Paul Millsap has a place in NBA, Carlos Boozer has also done fine. I’m sure that the dude will be fine.

JoeWolf1I don’t think it will hurt him that much unless he’s under 6’8” barefoot. It’s known he has a 7’1” wingspan is already a well built 240lbs and has much more strength than most PF prospects. If he’s at least 6’8” in the combine that means he’s over 6’9” in shoes and no NBA players play barefoot.
Even if he is, lets say, 6’8.5” barefoot, that’s a half an inch shorter than Dwight Howard and 3/4 of an inch taller than Kevin Love who are #1 and #2 in the league in rebounding right now.

moxell1ParticipantAnd a major +1 for Thomas is his motor factor. The guy sees the ball and wills himself to track down the rebound. Even as a freshman, it was apparent the kid was a unique talent in that realm. I know the game is different now than in the 80s, but Barkley also had a knack for wanting the ball and making it happen, even as a small power forward. Not putting T-Rob in the same league at all of Mr. Barkley but I’m just saying they share a certain tenacity. He is a player that will continue to work at the next level and not just collect a paycheck. Oh yeah, Rock Chalk (feel free to interpret my bias)

Meditated StatesParticipant6’7 is no good and 6’8 is doable but at 2 in the draft and at power forward I don’t know. If he is 6’10 I will be surprised. How he does in workouts against other 6’10 and up guys will be key if he tests out short.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantI really get tired of all the measurable talk when it comes to basketball prospects. I understand it can play a role to a certain degree but time and time again guys make people look stupid for doubting them because of height. Ty Lawson, Steph Curry, Paul Millsap, Kevin Love. The list goes on and on. 1 inch is not going to determine if Tom Robinson can play the game of basketball. He is a monster on the block, has speed and elite athleticism and even developed a jumper. I would maybe take 2-3 guys over him in this draft. Give me a break…

chocboywndrParticipantThe question wasn’t whether he could play or not, the question is if he is really 6’8" does it hurt his stock even if he tests well. In essense if he is the same height as Harrison Barnes is he still a number 2 pick.

Future_Scout"He does not use post moves"
bs, he has one of the best up and unders in cbb.

Meditated StatesParticipantHe does not use post moves so I think the inches matter. He is a pro but are you taking a 6’7 pf 2 in the draft? It is a reasonable question.

Future_Scoutthe one who really got no post moves is your boy pj3

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantThe most overrated player in this draft class, Thomas Robinson.
He’s not a combo forward either way (pf/c,pf/sf) as far as skill set goes. But as for size he is clearly an undersized pf without a jump shot.
Yea he can dunk…but last I checked the only star level player with that size and skill set is Blake griffin
THOMAS ROBINSON IS NO WHERE CLOSE TO BLAKE GRIFFIN AND NEVER WILL BE
with that being said the top 3 should look like this and I believe will once we see the combine results
1. Anthoney Davis- dude is a young kg for real
2. Andre Drummond- you can’t teach size, age & ability. Remember he’s younger than his freshman class..reminds me of Andrew Bynum who would of went to uconn also.
3. MKG- no disrespect to Kidd~Gilchrist he was my favorite player to watch this year. You can’t teach heart and he’s got mad heart. I’m sure he will be a good fit with any team who picks home up.

tuck243ParticipantPlus I said this before I will be willing to beat that PF position on average is 6’9 now… Not that big of a deal…

Meditated StatesParticipantEducated me 0 Future Scout. Will Robinson score like Al Jefferson in the post? No he does not have those post moves.

invalidParticipantless explosive kenyon

mosdefParticipantWhy does everyone think you have to jump out of the gym like Shawn Kemp or Blake Griffin to be effective in the NBA? To me, Love is better then Blake and Love cant move or jump really.
The Kenyon Martin comparison is a good one. I always called him LaPhonso Ellis. The one thing you can tell about TRob is that the dude has fire. No one thought Kansas would go this far, and Im a Kansas fan. He still needs to work on more post moves but he is a better 4 prospect then Markieff or Marcus Morris. He probably is 6’8” but you can still be effective in the NBA at PF at that size.
The top 3 should be
1.Anthony Davis
2.Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
3.Thomas Robinson

NashyMingParticipantI think his official measurement was ~6’9 bare foot and 6’10 in shoes, so he has legit PF size. Same for Jared Sullinger.
I guess nobody would play with bare foot.

Meditated StatesParticipantCan be like Brandon Bass if he keeps improving his J. That’s pretty good to me. Checkout Bass numbers this season.

sheltwon3ParticipantAt what site is this guy shorter than 6’8" I have heard that he may be 6’10" I think he you are looking a Drummonds who is like 6’11" Robinson height does matter. If he is 6’10" than you can feel a lot better taking him over Drummonds.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 04/12/2012 - 4:55pm #658631
mosdefParticipantNo matter what, I would feel better taking Robinson over Drummond. The reasons:
1-Robinson produced at a big time program getting to the championship game
2-Robinson has more fire
3-Robinson has more post moves and better range
Drummond is taller but they dont play the same position. People keep saying Drummond is tall and you cant teach it. You also cant teach desire. You either have it or you dont. The dude also is a bad free throw shooter. He can learn post moves but does he want to? Who cares if he is 7feet tall. So is Andris Biedrins and Michael Oluwakandi.
