valentineevery year someone does well in the summer leauge or writes about there workouts or finishes the season well because the team benchs there starters in favor or bench players and fans on here and in the media start to overrate them. Past guys are as follows
Anthony randolph- he played every well after his rookie year int he summer leauge and mostly people on here said he was gonna break out and do this that or the other. as we all know that didnt happen. the kid is talented but his peers, coachs, and GM have said he doesnt work hard on improving his game and hes the last one to practice and the first to leave. hopefully that changes with the knicks
Ramon sessions- after having a couple very good games a couple people on here swore he was one of the best pg in the nba and possibly a future allstar. well he didnt live up to that while out in miny and ended up playing behind a rookie
deandre jordan- had a pretty good summer leauge and the expectations by some fans( mostly clipper) soared. but it wasnt just the summer leauge it was his tweets or blogs with him saying he has this insane workout and how hard he was working and how much better he would be this past season. of course many people on here drunk the koolaid as always and thought he would be a new player, sadly he wasnt he was the same ole deandre who if left open would give you a very nice highlight dunk
This year
Kevin Durant- yes hes good and one of the best players in the world and the only reason i even put him on this list is because a couple people think hes better then lebron right now. come on lets be real hes very good and some may not like lebron because of what he did this summer but lebrons game hasnt gotten any worst and people forget he also put up 30ppg as a 21 year old
Javelee Mcgee- the kid is fast for a big man and very athletic but hes still low on the skills department. every time the olympic coachs talked about him they mentioned how fast and athletic he was but no one ever mentioned skills?..yes he dominated the nba summer leauge but hes a athletic year 3 big man playing against players who arent dleauge starters. he did what he was suppossed to do. And reports are (google it or watch nba tv) that hilton armstrong has been out playing him in camp. Right now he seems to be a bigger younger tyson chandler who fouls more. his upside is nice because hes a hard worker and has a high motor.

stanford hoopswith his triple double numbers i dont think lebron will be considered overrated after he wins the mvp award
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 2:57pm #409604
kurtu17Participantyeah but its safe to say KD will have a better year then lebron…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 2:59pm #409607
tigers04ParticipantI saw durant’s name and didn’t even bother reading the rest. Bc its obvious that the reigning 2 time mvp is the best player in the game. So for you to even bother debating that topic that durants better kinda makes you seem like a newbie if this topic is to the “couple” people that actually believe that
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 3:01pm #409608
stanford hoopshow is it safe to say durant will have a better season?..he will score more and what else?
lebron better defender
better passer
better rebounder
tiger if you dont agree or dont like it you can always keep it moving

Im Your FatherParticipantI think the issue would be, that there have been people on this website saying that they would take Durant over Lebron. Not a lot of people, but a sizable minority. So I believe he’s saying that Durant is overrated on this site, much like Randolph and Jordan were last summer, not that he is overrated in general.

tigers04ParticipantI feel you I don’t like the bickerin on here either you just called me a newbie after a harmless joke so I defended myself..and I get your post but you really put kd and mcgee on the same overrated list, just kinda disrespectful in that sense if you really think about it?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 3:12pm #409615
stanford hoopsnewbie isnt a term to put someone down. its what new peopel on teams are called or even on here(i was called newbie when i first came on here)
i even explained why i put durant on there just like if i put rose on there because a bunch of people started thinking he is better then cp3
the funny thing is the same thing was said on nba tv saying durant is getting overrated in a sense because so many people are saying hes better then lebron and the best player in the nba now.

kurtu17Participanthey im not those ppl..i just think that with Miami having a more staked team you want see the same lebron..he wont have the ball in his hands as much as he did even if he was a full time point guard..there wont be as man y point and rebounds to get on this miami team..with there being Haslem, Bosh, Big z, and Howard..maybe his assist will go up…but im sure Wade will want to have the ball in his hands at times, especially with the game on the line…with that being said i think durant will have a better year scoring wise…and i wouldnt put it past me that Durant will wind up being a better player in the end…

NYCrealdealParticipantchase down blocks lebron is not better then durant on D
i am not saying durant is better cuz hes not
lebron is a lot better passer
squash in scoring
and lebrons D is not that much better
i dont think lebron will be putting up a triple double this yera
i think he averges 22 8 rebs 8 assts
i think durants averages 31.3 pts 8 rebs 2.3 asts
i think durant gets mvp
lebron even might average less than 20 because theres going to be so many night were hes ganna take the 4th quarter off and even parts of the 3rd because heat are going to blow so many people out0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 3:37pm #409631
stanford hoopswhat?..lebron is not better then durant on defense?..durant made all defensive team over lebron this past season huh? this i swhat im talking about when i mentioned overrated. people start saying things that are obviously not true. durant has had moments where his defense has been pretty good but as a whole his defense wasnt nothing to talk about and definatly wasnt on the level of all nba defense

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantYa’ll Kevin Durant fans are crazy.
If he does not win the scoring title…he doesn’t win MVP.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 4:06pm #409650

Im Your FatherParticipantHere is what I don’t understand. Even if Lebron’s stats go down, does that make him a worse player than Durant? He has proven that he is capable of scoring just as much as Durant, he has stated that he could lead the league in scoring every year, and I believe him. Having his stats go down isn’t an indication that he’s a worse player, just that he’s on a better team.
Just because Lebron might average 20 instead of 30 this year doesn’t mean he couldn’t average 30 on a different team.
Also, Durant is not a better defender than Lebron in any way whatsoever. And I don’t know where people got this idea that he is a better man to man defender. Lebron straight up shut down Paul Pierce while simaltaneously averaging 29, 7, 7, while he was "choking" against the Celtics. Contrary to popular belief, Lebron isn’t just on the All-Defensive team because of bias, he’s on there because he’s actually good at defense.

ChrischiParticipantIt’s worthless to be the league’s leading scorer. AI lead the NBA in scoring so often, but he shot 43% and had always 3-4 TO in 40mpg. A lot of players could lead the league in scoring, but if they tried their teams would probably lose a lot more games.
Just play the way you need to win games and screw stats like ppg. Your ppg is worthless if you’re not an efficient shooter.

ChrischiParticipantI mean Durant is overrated if you say he is better than Lebron. But who really thinks/says that?
His ppg will be higher but what is that worth? Lebron shot 50% last season. I think he’ll probably shoot even better this season., he is a better rebounder, a better passer and a way better defender.
But Durant is still a beast, if he stays healthy he’ll have a huge career.

gregoden08ParticipantLol at the person who said Durant is a better defender. He’s obviously never watched basketball before LOL.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 4:23pm #409662
stanford hoopsyou would be suprised how many people have said that. from here to other sites even during the fiba games some commentators and espn people mentioned it. i wouldnt have added him if it was just one or two people saying it
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 4:44pm #409677

Im Your FatherParticipant@Chrischi
That is exactly my point. Lebron is a very efficient scorer, and he was something like .3 ppg away from the scoring title last year. He is an excellent scorer and can put up a ton of points when needed, as he proved in his 7 years with the Cavs.
What I am saying is just because he stops scoring as much doesn’t mean he’s worse, or not capable of scoring more. It’s not like Durant will overtake him just because his ppg will be better, of course it will be better, the Thunder need him to score a lot more than the Heat need Lebron to.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 5:23pm #409698

sheltwon3ParticipantI am not a newbie and I would take Durant over Lebron. Right now Lebron is better but I think Durant has skills that blend in better with more teams than not. Also once his defense and passing improves because of his scoring and intangibles, he will be better than Lebron. I am the one that said what I said about Sessions. Dude does not suck but has yet to get opportunity but he may get it in Cleveland while Mo Williams is out.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 5:36pm #409703
stanford hoopsdurant has skills to blend it with more teams then not?..lebron has the skills to blend in with any team. he can be the scorer or the passer or the rebounder or the top defender. his passing will never be on lebrons level ..thats not something that just comes like shooting. he can become a good defender lebron is one his way to becoming a great defender. the only thing he doesnt do as well as durant is shooting which will come with time. sorry but the kid cant do anything else better then lebron other then shooting
slashing
rebounding
passing
defense
take contact better
and im a durant fan. like him way more then lebron but i wont let that blind me from reality
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 5:44pm #409709

Im Your FatherParticipantI’d say that sums it up about perfectly
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 5:54pm #409717

sheltwon3ParticipantLebron does not blend in, He Normally tries to do too much and dominates the ball. He is very talented so this is not that big of a deal but I don’t see that working for every team. Durant is a shooter and scorer who can play off the ball and play with the ball in his hands. Lebron is not that good playing off the ball. I am not saying he can’t do it but he does not appear to be that willing or good at doing it.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 5:57pm #409718

Mr. 19134ParticipantWhoever said A lot of guys could lead the league in scoring is completely wrong.
And Allen Iverson is a former MVP who lead his team to the Championships but had to go up against a fully fueld diesel and a Cold Blooded Killer Kobe who were on fire in that playoffs. In fact that Laker team didn’t lose a game untill they ran into Allen Iverson.
I dont think you realize all the bad teams Iverson was on that he took to the playoffs.
Don’t you ever in your life say what Iverson did in his career could be easily reproduced
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 6:19pm #409728
stanford hoopsdurant has the ball in his hands alot as well..check out 82games.com. he needs the ball in his hands more to be effective then lebron does. but thats not a issue because both players are stars so whatever team they go to the ball will be in there hands alot. they arent supporting cast player they are stars/go to players. lebron will be better on any team because he can also pass to make a team/teammates better durant just scores
0 - Posted on: Tue, 10/05/2010 - 6:22pm #409729
stanford hoopsi dont know how i missed that. im sorry but alot of players could not lead the leaug ein scoring which is probably why alot of players dont lead the leauge in scoring. you know how hard it is to do that even if you dont shoot a good percentage. A.I did it because he was special. you have to be a special scorer to lead the leauge in scoring
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/06/2010 - 2:05am #409780
ChrischiParticipantYeah of course I’m not denying that. But what I meant was that many players could just start shooting contested shots, not caring about their teams winning, and get a high ppg with a low FG%. But that’s worthless because your team loses.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/06/2010 - 4:10am #409796

IndianaBasketballParticipant"durant has the ball in his hands alot as well..check out 82games.com. he needs the ball in his hands more to be effective then lebron does."
Come on now… Anybody who watches basketball knows that’s not true. Durant doesn’t need the ball nearly as much as LeBron to be effective. LeBron has the ball in his hands 90% of the time and isn’t that good playing off of the ball, catching and shooting, etc. LeBron is the most ball dominant player in the NBA by far. The second most ball dominant player is his teammate.
To even mention Durant on an overrated list is crazy, regardless if people think he could become better than LeBron.
