204ballerParticipantNash, Durant and any other Superstar that couldnt win a ring with their team should request for a trade, go to Dallas and make a big 3 with Nowtizki…..WAIT they wont do it cause they anit b*tches like LeBron and Bosh. Unlike those 2, the other Superstars in the league wanted to win on their own and work hard and make there team better.

royk927ParticipantI blame the Celtics though they instigated the arms race now everybody is clamoring for a big three. (Actually dates back further to Milwalkee to Me (big dog, ray allen sam cassel).

M-DYMESParticipantThe Celtics did it the right way though. They made deals for those players and gave up valuable assets in particular, those picks and Big Al.
The Heat were just given those players. Gift-wrapped and ready to go. I don’t blame the Celtics. I don’t blame the Heat either, as what organization would decline to accept those players. I don’t blame LBJ or Bosh either, they just want to win and put together a dynasty.
No one deserves blame for wanting to be the best, but I did have a problem with the fashion in which LBJ went to Miami (the decision and basically holding Cleveland hostage for those months).
Bosh just wanted a piece of the nookie so he attached himself to LBJ’s underside, like those fish.

BasterdInABasketParticipantStarted with the bucks?
Bucks drafted big dog #1, and got ray draft day for marbury. Not like any of them were ever superstars either.0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/02/2011 - 6:05pm #539367
204ballerParticipantCeltics didnt start the trend, I dont know if you can put Paul Pierce and Ray Allen in the Superstar Category. KG would be in the Superstar category though BUT all 3 of them were in the decline of their careers and they werent free agents and signed 100 million dollar contracts to join Paul Pierce, PLUS i bet Paul werent even recruiting them like how Wade recruited Lebron and Bosh to come over. Also add Dampier and Bibby to that list also lol.

nath09ParticipantYeah James hooked up with them to win a ring. But he gave Cleveland a fair cahance to buil a team better than Varejao, Williams and Jamieson, and they couldn’t.
Bosh kinda did the same but he bitched about his team non stop cos he was the best player on his side. How do you think he would wear it if LeBron and Wade went public and paid out on him.
It should be in his contract to punch out 10,000 push ups every time he doesn’t out rebound every team mate shorter than him. He has been a girl scout on the boards for 90 percent of the season.

MuggsyParticipantThere’s wanting to win a championship, and then there’s unnecessary overkill…a la Heat.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI do not know why people think the Celtics trading for two of their HOF caliber players is so much more cool with people than the Heat signing theres? You guys do realize something by now, right? Those teams that traded their star players were God awful the next year, much like the Cavs and Raptors. The Sonics/Thunder were bad anyway, and were getting Kevin Durant had Ray stayed or not, but the Jeff Green trade really did nothing other than make them bad enough to get the 4th pick that next year, which I guess turned out in their favor when they copped Russell Westbrook.
But, the Timberwolves? Name me one good thing they got out of the Garnett trade. Still thinking? I am drawing a blank as well. Nothing. They traded Garnett for 6 units of nothing. Al Jefferson put up numbers and all, even similar enough numbers to Garnett that people almost thought it was a decent trade. But, that loss column kept piling up, and than they traded Al for what exactly? That trade was sketchy at the time, and even sketchier now. Kevin McHale gift wrapped a present to the Celtics, saved Danny Ainge’s job and made sure Boston stayed ahead of LA in the ring race.
I was surprised LeBron James signed with Miami, but if anything I think it shows he cares about winning more than having to be "the man". People may see it as a cop out, and it still will make it incredibly difficult to say his legacy surpasses either Michael Jordan or a Kobe Bryant, but I think people put way too much stock in that. Plus, it has been a challenge. They have a Center who had 1 rebound in 27 minutes, and is completely lost on offense. There half court game needs a great deal of improvement. But, it is not exactly like they have swept through everyone they faced. People thought a lot of teams were better than the Heat, and indeed they may be right, but it has been difficult for the Heat to get to this level and this point. The Celtics did not exactly have an easy road either, and in the end won a ring and probably do not have a much further window of opportunity.
Personally, I think when the Heat are playing good basketball, there is nothing more fun to watch in the NBA. They are also an incredibly frustrating and stagnant team as well. But, they definitely have made things interesting. Plus, Dallas is a team full of some very solid players, it is not like they are Dirk and a bunch of nobodies. Shawn Marion is still a freak, a great rebounder, unconventional offensive player who plays hard defense. Jason Kidd is a 10 time All-Star, one of the best passers and defensive PG’s in NBA history, I honestly do not think Nash would cause much more damage than he is right now on both ends of the court. Jason Terry is a damn assassin, and a terror to keep up with in a half court set. He is like a tiny Ray Allen at times. Add in Tyson Chandler, who really came to the party in Game 2, and that is a great team.
You do not have to like Miami, they are arrogant at times and the way they did things goes against the grain of what was thought to be the ultimate goal in the NBA, which is having a singular player carry a team. But, they play fantastic defense at times and have two of the best players in the world doing amazing things on a regular basis. They made it to the NBA Finals by playing great defense, rebounding and performing well in some close games. Just because they did not make some lopsided trades to get players on their team "the right way", does that mean they have to be chastized? Kobe wanted to trade Andrew Bynum for who he thought was a better player in Jason Kidd, just so happened things worked out and he got Pau Gasol. Would he say no to Dwight Howard? Would Kevin Durant or Derrick Rose?
We are in a different time people, and it is a different circumstance. Saying that players are staying on such and such a team because they are competitors is honestly a cop out as well. We will see whether they are competitors if they can not get their team over the hump with whomever they have in their supporting cast, not to mention whether they can make some advantageous trades and signings to make their team strong enough to compete. Saying LeBron and Chris Bosh do not want to make their team better is totally ridiculous, they did that for 7 years. They just saw guys like Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen do it for 11-12 years, than finally get it done when they played on a team they loved playing on. Would LeBron have been more of a competitor if he signed with a deeper team in Chicago? I do not think so. Was staying in Cleveland his only option to be a competitor? By the way people tend to talk, it seems like it. Hate LeBron, think he is not a competitor, but do not be surprised at being disappointed. If he does not win this year, he will look ridiculous, but the series is not over and he is in a situation right now where his team will compete at a high level for a pretty damn long time.
