This game is called "This Team Needs". Here are the teams: Blazers, Bucks, Lakers, Wolves, Kings, Nuggets, jazz, Knicks, Celtics, 76ers, Magic, Pistons, Nets

The goal is to set each NBA team on the right path for their future, but you can only pick ONE thing they can do out of these 3 options. Here are the three options— 1. "This team needs to fire their coach and give a blank check to the best available coach out there" 2. "this team needs to tank so they can draft Skal or Ben" and 3. "This team needs to just add veterans that can mentor and guide their prospects"

    I would go

Fire and hire— Lakers, Kings, Magic

Skal or Ben— Blazers, Nuggets, Knicks, Celtics, Nets

Veterans— Bucks, Wolves, Pistons, 76ers, Jazz

The Sixers have tanked so consistently over the past few years, one more year wouldn’t hurt! And it’s a bit quick to dump skiles before he’s had a chance, I’d like to add some veterans to that magic side, they could end up being good.

I really like Brent brown though making him lose faith in himself because he has to lose again isnt the greatest of ideas in my opinion lol. Just roll with Okafor, Noel and Wroten and get other pieces lol.

i know skiles just got there, but if they got Thibs, they would be up and coming east beasts.

The last thing the Kings need is to change coaches again. I also like the Skilles fit in Orlando, I think they fall into the add vets camp. Otherwise a good list.

NICE! I like this idea a lot. +1 for originality

    My take on this

Fire & Hire -Knicks, Wolves, Lakers

    • Knicks — Fisher …. UGH
    • Wolves — Saunders – UGHH
    • Lakers — Byron Scott – ehh… seems like a good guy but also seems lost at times with no true identity. Didn’t he mention something about Kobe at Power Forward? uhhh… good look with that

Skal or Ben — Sixers, Nuggets, Blazers, Celtics, Nets

    • Sixers – see the beauty of this is the Sixers can actually try to win some games (I have them pegged at 30 if injuries were turned off like 2k) and still get Ben Simmons – who would solve our ball handling situation via some Hinkie trade with our potential four first rounders. Maybe the rights to Saric… who knows what the Hinkster will come up with but never say never my friends.
    • Nuggets – Skal and Mudiay look like a great foundation with Gallo and Chandler and possibly Faried still there.
    • Blazers – Yeah, Ben Simmons and Lillard looks fantastic too. I think Plumlee will surprise people so they wont need Skal as much
    • Celtics – Very interesting and maybe a reach because I do think they have a good solid roster and wont "tank". But maybe last year was a fluke and skewed by playing teams who were injured/resting players late so they picked up a few extra wins here and there. Im still confused by their number of combo guards and wing players but… hey whatever. Ainge proves time and time to pull through with an epic trade eventually. But Simmons or Skal would be good piece for this team and fits.
    • Nets – LOL im sorry. They’re a funny team. Question – do they even have their draft pick next year?? LOL jajajajajjaja <– sorry, Mexican guy just stole my computer for a second.

    Veterans – remaining teams

    • Magic & Bucks – I like both of these teams and where they stand. A couple of veterans could really help their playoff positioning and guide the youngsters. Bucks don’t need much. Magic could use so more toughness (kind of like a David West type)
    • Pistons – Good roster and even though Ben Simmons made me consider if I should change their grouping, I think they have a solid roster going into this season. Let it marinate SVG!
    • Jazz – some scoring punch off the bench

I’m a big Thibs guy. I’m just imagining how much he can turn around the Lakers, Kings fortunes and catapulting the magic to the elite east. I just remember the year he led chi to the east 1 seed with Lucas III running point lol

Thibs is a great coach as long as you have a solid Xs and Os guy on offensive side of things.. He runs a slow tempo offense which is why team are gonna be shy on him among his sub patterns, (Nuggets actually were not interested in him cause of the pace of his offense) I think he’s a great coach but he’s gonna get placed into that category of guys that can only coach young teams cause he rubs veterans overtime with his OCD.

I think that with the Bucks, Timberwolves, Magic and Jazz all you need is time.  They have veterans who are awesome, they are just young vets.

    Bucks-Middleton, Monroe

    Magic-Vuacic, Fry, Harris, Olidipo

    Jazz-Hayward, Favors, Booker

    Timberwolves-Rubio, Garnet(OLD thought)

The T-Wolves may need some vets if some of the lesser youngs don’t pan out, but right now they just need to give the young guys a chance.

I’m fine with Byron Scott. He has coached good teams before and I like what he did last year considering the talent. He limited kobes minutes, something dantoni didn’t. He limited the minutes of guys like Lin, boozer and Jordan hill when they didn’t play defense and gave opportunity to clarkson, black and Ellington because they played hard. Lakers have issues, but people are using the typical coach as scapegoat if they look at last years roster and blame Scott for what happened. It’s like my raiders, you don’t just fire the coach every year until you get talent. Doc rivers stunk in Boston until they got the big 3 then suddenly he was good. You have to believe in the cliches philosophy and how he hands out minutes and holds players accountable, I like him.

This Celtics roster was 24-12 once put together. And we just got better with Amir Johnson, David Lee, 3 ready to play rookies, and another year of growth for our extremely young roster.

Celtics should tank? Somebody’s either clueless or jealous. We outsourced our tank to the Nets, for the next 3 years.

We’re literally one basic trade away from being the second best team in the east, if we aren’t already.

But not every team can be run by Ainge, or coached by Stevens.

Nope, lesser teams are often better off just tanking.

Easy there buddy! It was a hypothetical statement. I’m a huge fan of Brad Stevens, praised Danny Ainge for being a boss, and I like a handful of your roster. But saying statements like 2nd best in the east. Did the Bulls all tear their ACLs? Miami sign Jackie Moon to play Center for them this year? Pacers? Bucks? Wizards? Hawks? Man that was a bold statement and I +1’d you for your support for your squad but 2nd best….

Celtics had the second best record in the east after the all star break, 24-12, and they were like THE youngest team in the NBA. Add a year of growth and actual continuity, plus David Lee and Amir Johnson, and it’s not that bold a statement.

Bulls are one more year futher away from their prime, and Noah looks like he’s in the middle of a nose-dive. It happens to the best, even Pau Gasol. Derrick Rose already plays like Deron Williams.

Bosh, Wade another year older, and no longer dependable injury-wise.

Bucks and Pacers are the only ones with youth and momentum on their side, and neither intimidate anybody.

Especially since Indiana doesn’t have their rim protector.

The end of the season record was all cool and jolly but come on you guys were the worst team in the playoffs last year, the amount of talent you guys have is so underwhelming. Stevens is a great coach but players play at the end of the day.

Who is your best player? I can guarantee you that the other 29 teams in the league have at least one player who  majority of GMs would want more than your top guy. You’re not going anywhere having that recipe.  It’s ok to be optimistic, but damn people always say us Lakers fans are delusional and Celtics fans are here talkin about how great Evan Turner is and how david Lee and these rookies will make them elite status in the east.

The Celtics played the Cavs as tight as any team in the playoffs did before the Finals. And the Celtics played them at their healthiest, with Kyrie and Love still playing, and the Cavs were fresh in the first round.

Unfortunately, the Celtics played so well that they didn’t get the 8th seed and the much, much easier matchup in the Hawks, who we outplayed the second half of the season.

The Celtics were not the worst team in the playoffs, and we were peaking while most of the other teams were running on fumes, faultering, and in the case of the Raptors, showing signs of bad chemistry and self-doubt.

If the regular season had gone another week, the Celtics were to rise as high as the 5th seed. Another week after that, we were clearly outplaying the Wizards and Raptors, and the Bulls too.

Most of the teams you think are better than the Celtics just made a big impression during the first half of the season, and were very pedestrian in the second half.

This Celtics team just didn’t have enough time together, and the Rondo-Green led Celtics dug way too deep a hole. A hole so big that our 24-12 record with the new team couldn’t even wake most casual nba fans up.

Whatever. It’s not like anybody won’t see it coming.

"Celtics don’t have any stars", lol. It’s about winning the games, and that’s all these carefully selected Celtics care about. It’s all they think about, even right now. Keep on doubting. Please.

Tightly? You were the only team cleveland swept. You act like not every team cares about winning. You can’t win games without talent, if that wasn’t the case we would all be in the NBA

Poor logic, all over the place.

If the Celtics can’t win games without talent, how did they go 24-12 from the day they were put together?

You can keep your talent, and your logic.

If "no talent" is what comes to mind when you think of the team, you might want to re-check our roster.

And while you’re at it, check out our record since the roster was put together. I’ll give you a hint: it’s somewhere in the 24-12 neighborhood. It’s a pretty swanky neighborhood. And a pretty swanky roster.

lots of teams go on hot cold stretches. Your squad is what is was over 82 games. I honestl ydont think the celtics are that good. Making the east last year is not saying much. They will have to fight to get back with the way teams like miami and indiana and charlotte all improved.

Your "squad" is whatever it’s record is while that "squad" is together.

I don’t think there was another team that had as much roster turnover in the past year than the Celtics.

Just like the Mavericks squad that played great in the first half of the year was way better than the Mavericks squad after the Rondo trade. Two different squads, with some overlap.

So you think you have a talented roster? Who is your best player? Literally the other 29 teams in the league have at least one player who anyone with a brain would want more than your top guy. Heck we can do your 2nd best player or 3rd best player and compare them to other teams 2nd or 3rd best player… And I promise you Boston has the worst 1st, 2nd, and 3rd top guy.

nice but you got swept despite beating Cleveland twice at the end of the season, so "24-12" really doesn’t mean Jack. You ain’t making the playoffs this year anyways with indiana, Miami, getting healthy and Detroit, charlotte and Orlando rising

Detroit lost greg Monroe who knows when Brandon Jennings will be back and ersan ilyasova and Reggie Jackson aren’t very good replacements the pacers lost west and Hibbert and replaced them with Myles Turner Jordan hill and Rakeem Christmas if your the pacers you could get a 7 or 8 seed but do you really want that I expect the to play Joseph young, Myles Turner and Rakeem Christmas decent minutes they probably won’t win a whole lot of games but they may get a good pick and there rookies get experience Miami will easily make the playoffs I expect it to take another year or two for the magic to make much noise although they may be a dark horse team Gordon’s healthy oladipo and Payton make up a great defensive backcourt and hezonja adds shooting you also must be forgetting Charlottes dreadful season and the fact that they lost biyombo and vonleh who were there only remotely capable rim protectors kaminsky and Jefferson can’t score enough points to make up for the lack of defense theyll play and the hornets made a huge mistake denying the absurd trade offer with multiple first round picks that danny ainge threw at them in the draft so that MJ could take his guy kaminsky which based on Jordan’s track record (Adam Morrison, kwame brown, Bismarck biyombo, MKG, zeller) probably won’t live up to his expectations but i hope he proves me wrong I see him putting up 13 points and six rebounds which doesn’t make up for his lake of strength and defense that leaves the celtics there roster hasn’t change much from there playoff push last year Marcus smart is better James young added a lot of muscle and reportedly increased his vert this year and improved his shooting rj they added Amir Johnson and David lee and, but lost Brandon bass this team hasn’t changed enough to affect chemistry and there’s no way they tank for skal or Simmons because they have the nets first rounder and they seem to be doing all the work for them so basically the celtics will be all in to make the playoffs and more likely than not will they may even be contenders to win the weak Atlantic division depending on how things work out with the raptors this year and what does it mean for teams to have a top guy better than the celtics top guy if they’re like the Knicks and can’t win 20 games

Tightly? You were the only team cleveland swept. You act like not every team cares about winning. You can’t win games without talent, if that wasn’t the case we would all be in the NBA

Please.

"Celtics – Very interesting and maybe a reach because I do think they have a good solid roster and wont "tank". But maybe last year was a fluke and skewed by playing teams who were injured/resting players late so they picked up a few extra wins here and there."

With the Pacers, I think Ian Mahinmi + Jordan Hill + Myles Turner will hold it down for them barring any injuries. And then you have guys like Lavoy Allen and  Rakeem Christmas who will provide minutes on the boards.

The Heat are also suprisingly deep. Nevermind the starters. Their bench of Chalmers, Gerald Green, Winslow, Amare, Birdman, and Haslem isn’t a bad lineup for days when they need to manage Wade’s minutes and until Chris Bosh returns. I expect Goran to gel nicely this year and take more opportunities to create for this team.

We shall see. As of now, I can’t see the Celtics being higher than 6th this year. That’s being generous but they will compete. Of course, this can all change if Danny Ainge makes a blockbuster trade because that’s where I think this is all headed.

It seems like an odd thing to say but I think the Raptors greatest need is a commitment to an offensive scheme predicated on ball movement and getting guys the ball in spots they will be effective (ie. Demar in the mid-post, Jonas on dump offs and Kyle on closeouts). Admittedly, I didn’t watch enough Hawks games so I can’t say anything on where Carroll is most effective.

Casey has a tendency to let his guys play too much 1 on 1, especially when they arent elite ball handler (Demar) or quick enough to get by someone (Lowry).

I would also like to see better ATO and end of quarter execution. This season was painful to watch.

I’d like to see Patty Mills get more minutes with the Spurs. Not exactly a pass-first PG…but he’s a sweet Heat Check guy.

Now that Bellenelli is gone and Tony Parker/Manu Ginobli probably won’t play as many minutes…

Patty Thrills looks set to be a 15ppg scorer.
