binetParticipantYou mean to the D-League?
Europe?
No way any team is going to accept his 5M$ contract right now…

thetrademachineryParticipantthis is not his defence, in his defence he is not even trying why should he?
They tried to trade him, they are going to trade him eventually. He is just lowering his stock so that when he is traded the team he is traded to should keep better guys in the squad.
He is much better defender than this, and a monster in the post when he plays willingly. I believe if he ends up with boston or LAL he would be multiple times allstar.

ChewyParticipantHe is a player who has won all his life (except against Jabari in HS), went to college and won a national championship as a freshman, was a top draft pick goes to an organization that prides itself on losing for the last few years. Then basically gets told (by an organization he did not want to play for) that he is dead weight because the future of the organization is in another center.
And you are surprised he gives a half ass effort?!
I can’t wait to see Oak play for literally anyone other than the 76ers. I just hope he gets out sooner than it took Cousins to get out of Sac…

Anton123ParticipantHe was obviously looking forward to being traded, he tried to be professional about it and at least give some effort during games. Now I think Okafor just doesn’t care anymore. He’s on a team that is tanking once again. The fans and the management have shown they don’t want him in Philly and aren’t interested in helping him develop as a player. It’s not hard to understand why he would be playing without any passion.
I still believe he is a good player and his defense can improve, I think he showed somewhat improved defense at the beginning of the year.

holefillers1ParticipantHe is a mutt. Still getting paid $5MIL still in the NBA. I would send him down to DLeague for development and leave him there until December. Then I would cut him the day before Christmas and flatten his tires so he has to leave his car at the complex.

ChewyParticipantpeople will always work harder when they feel they are appreciated. That’s a human trait, not a sports trait. 76ers treated him like crap and this is what they get for handling the Oak situation the way they did.

OhCanada-ParticipantI agree with most of whats being said here. He has been mismanaged, he is not a good defender but is obviously better than this. Also this is not a scenerio where this clip is an anomoly. Its not like he was just sprinting for 50 seconds and has nothing in the tank or just took an elbow to the head and is dizzy, the dude isnt applying effort and he is the same way on the offensive end. Night and day on offense from last year. While its true there are morale issues in Philly a man making $5-Mil a year should be working alot harder for his employer.
I get it though. Okafor is thinking "the team trashes me, they bench me, they ruin my value which coincides with how much money I can make, they fail to develop me, we arent playing to win, so why should I exert effort and risk injury?".
The best players wont ever need motivation to work hard. They may need it to play with confidence but theres never an wxcuse ro play that effortless. I still think he can be an impact player though. What an absolute waste so far.
