I think Tyreke Evans has officially become the most underrated player on this site. I just saw someone post that he "is on the decline". . .He’s 22 years old! ! ! I see recommendations that they trade Evans and the 5 for the 2. SMMFH at some of you guys. Do you watch bball or just regurgitate sh!t you read on this site?

I see "Tyreke is a black hole" ignorance on this site all of the time. Most teams have players that can help hide a players weaknesses. Evans weakness is his J, and his strength is his driving ability. Teams load the lane and the Kings have been unable to take advantage. Not because he can’t pass, he is a good passer, but because other teams would rather a jumper from anyone vs Evans for a layup.

I can’t blame you if you didn’t watch a King’s game this season, but if you did you would have seen a player put in the worst possible spot to succeed. They have a coaching carousel, an extremely young team, no idea where they will be playing from one season to the next, and no leadership. They overpaid Hayes just so they could have a vet presence! They move Evans around based partly on his inability to consistently hit jumpers, but mostly because they have no system and they just try to get the best 5 on the court. 

In his 3 seasons in the league he hasn’t had a consistent big man down low. I love Cousins but he isn’t the athletic type of guy you dish it to for a dunk. Thompson couldn’t make a layup until this year. He’s had Hawes who was horrible down low, Hayes who is horrible offensively, and Dalembert who is not known for his offense.

His best shooter is Thornton who is extremely inconsistent. Next in line is? ? How many assists would anyone have if they were passing out to the likes of Jimmer, Cisco Garcia, Donte Greene, John Salmons and Travis Outlaw on the reg?

I’m not saying Evans is great, but c’mon this hating has gotten a little extreme.

then I will bash him again. He is not a good fit in Chicago whose shooting is just as bad as the Kings. Part of the hate comes from people putting him in trades ALL THE TIME. The idea of losing Deng or Noah for another ball dominate non shooting guard puts me in a rage.

As a player I like Tyreke, but I think people hate on him because whatever trade are "created/ rumored" are immediatly followed by either 1. Tyreke is overrated I don’t want him or 2. We could get more for Tyreke.

At this point it’s hard to define the value of Tyreke. Can he be a #1 on a team? Should he play pg? Should he be only a sg? Will he improve his jumpshot? Will he regain his Rookie numbers?

He is an enigma to me…

I would like to see him traded to the Bobcats and play the 2.  Maybe straight up for the second pick??? Or to the Cavs to play the 2.  Could trade him for the 4??

And honestly I’m a fan of Evans but his numbers have gone down every year that he’s been in the league. He’s a hard worker but he’s injury prone and doesn’t really have a true position. Last year he shot 20% from 3 which no successful NBA guard can get away with and win basketball games. With Isiah and Thornton taking over the back court in Sacremento I just don’t see Evans’ career going anywhere. I could still see him being successful at some point but he desperately needs to learn to play without the ball.

Jordan had more than 1 season where he shot below 20%.  Thats a very poor percentage but it does not doom a player especially one as talented as Evans.

This is a classic case of what have you done for me lately… he’s had some injuries and people have seem to have forgotten just how much game he has. He has some things to work on but what young player doesn’t? If your Sacramento and he’s one of your franchise players or so he was supposed to be, what exactly are you building this team? You draft Jimmer for ticket sales(I like Jimmer playing next to Reke because of his catch and shoot ability.) and you go and give Marcus Thornton 30mil. When he averaged 20-5-5 in route to ROY he was the best thing since pants with pockets then… now it’s trade him for anything you can get for him? Break it up! Sacramento is going to buy into all this nonsense and lose out big time. Someone(Calipari) needs to sit him and Cousins down and make them get with the program. Too much talent between the 2 of them for them not to be able to figure out how to play together.

Tyreke is not conductive to winning baskteball. Low b-ball IQ, poor shot selection, average athleticism doesn’t match his game, etc. He’s a net negative player. I don’t know why a team that wants to win would want him.

Don’t compare tyrekes shooting to Jordan. I know Jordan wasn’t a great 3 point shooter but he was money from midrange, he had WAY many more ways to score than tyreke he could beat anyone of the dribble, post up, or just take you to the hole. All tyreke can do is drive. Tyreke should try to use his size and strength to post up smaller guards, or use his speed and handle to blow by small forwards

Um..Nobody is comparing Tyreke to Jordan except for you my friend.  Don’t comment on a post you don’t understand.  I brought up Jordan to ilustrate that a guard with a low 3pt FG %, and the stat in general, is not a good way to judge a player.  There have been many successful swingmen who began their careers shooting poorly from the perimeter.

Tyreke sort of reminds me of Melo and Gay team chemistry wise – They are great players but do they actually make their team much better ? I just think with Thornton, Cousins and Evans there is just not enough shots to go round…

Everyone needs to understand that Tyreke and Demarcus are still the moest talented as well as best players on the Kings roster.  In a perfect world Isiah Thomas and Marcus Thornton are great players to bring off of ur bench! Kings need to commmit to Tyreke and bring in some shooters to surround him

I think they need to try and find a trading partner for Thorton and do anything possible to draft Harrison Barnes. Jimmer, Evans, Barnes, Thompson, and Cousins would actually be a lineup that could play well together. A rarity for the Kings.

As far as Evans goes, I think that he will always be a player who needs the ball in his hands. Does anyone remember when he was at Memphis and they tried playing him at the 2 for his first few games? Didn’t go so well. Then he gets put at the PG position and his team doesn’t lose until the sweet 16. What does that tell you about Tyreke Evans? Put the ball in that dude’s hands.

Maybe people hate on him because his stats have decreased every year he’s been in the league.  Is he talented?  Of course he is.  But he isn’t developing like he should or like many thought he would.

 

PPG have decreased from 20.1, to 17.8, to 16.5

 

RPG have decreased from 5.3, to 4.8, to 4.6

 

APG have decreased from 5.8, to 5.6, to 4.5

 

Free throw attempts per game have decreased from 6.5, to 4.7, to 4.1

 

He is a horrible jump shooter and a career 25% shooter from three.

 

The hate isn’t unwarranted, and as a Bulls fan, I pray we don’t trade for him.

Tyreke is freakn 22 years old, so the haters need to chill out.  To think he’s peaked at his current age is outrageous.  If you watched the Kings, you would know that he’s had awful coaches since he came into the league who stunted his development.  Just terrible coaching.

 In tyrekes first season he averaged 20,5,5 we all know this

In his second season he had plantar faciitis on and off for the whole season, naturally his numbers will drop

And this last season he played OUT OF POSITION at the sf and tyreke is no pg and the offense is stagnant at best when he runs it he’s simply a sg who can’t shoot

If u trade him now and he develops a shot u will be kicking urself in the ass for a long time…

I think you guys are forgetting that he was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis. There was a Dime Mag article on it. (Google it). I’m no expert, but from what I get from it is that it stays with you and has lingering effects. It’s pretty much going to stay with him for the rest of his career and come back on a recurring basis.

I still think Tyreke Evans has one of the dirtiest crossovers but even with that he may have lost a step with his injury. Yes, he’s only 22 but I think some owners may be worried about his injury status and future. That, and yes, I agree that he hasn’t had the best shot selection this past season.

You draft a guy who goes out and has a 20-5-5 ROY season. True his injuries didn’t help in year two but year 3 the Kings have been experimenting with him at the 3 whilst loading up on slingers who also need the ball and don’t distribute (Jimmer, Salmons and Thornton). What the Kings should have done is build around Ty at the 1 and Cousins inside, bring in perimeter shooters who can play off the ball and defend a little. Run the high pick n roll between those two, feed DMC in the post and let them learn to play together. Not signto every ball hog they could get their hands on and make Ty watch from the perimeter. I fear they have ruined him now simply because he has turned into a chucker with bad shot selection in their mess of a system.
