People are really overhypeing this 2012 draft. Kanter Williams and Irving would all be lottery picks next years still. Irving first PG, Kanter the first C and Williams would still go before McAdoo and Perry Jones.

totally disagree. noone ever heard of Williams till he transferred to Arizona. MacAdoo, Jones, and Barnes have all been scouted since elementary school. If this were a stronger draft, Williams pedigree wouldn’t hold up against those 3 guys. I’m not saying he’s not gonna be a good pro, I’m just saying this year, he has to go 2nd cuz noone else compares.

Yeah this draft may not be amazing, but it’s perfect for team needs and role players. I think those are some of the funnest guys to watch become NBA players.

Irving is better than Kabongo. Irving is a better scorer and has a more consistant jumpshot and better size. The only thing Kabongo has over Irving is speed.

I don’t see it that way. At the point guard, speed might be the most important athletic trait. His speed allows him to be a better on the ball defender, which he is. He absolutely breaks his player down better than Kyrie. Kyrie’s shot is better at this stage, but going into the league, shooting ability at the PG is a horrible predictor of success. I say Kabongo ends up being a perrenial all star, Irving might make the all star team a couple of times at best. Either way, the position is so deep in the league right now, it becomes difficult to quantify until they actually make it there

I dont think it matters how long you have been recruited, Sebastian Telfair was recruited his whole life see how well that worked out. Every year there are a couple players who are overhyped and heavily recruited but don’t make it and there are the guys who weren’t heavily recruited but make it after developing in college.

I’m not talking about their future success in the league. I’m talking about their perception around draft time. I think the period of time that a player has been evaluated for definitely says something towards their desirability. Telfair is a perfect example

Sebastian Telfair was one of the most hyped dudes ever. The fact he got drafted before Jameer Nelson still makes me laugh. I remember Darius Miles was supposed to be the man as well.

As much as I love Kabongo, at this point, it’s hard to tell who’s better as Kabongo has yet to play a single college game while Irving played very well in college in limited games.

Also, I am a little worry about how Kabongo would do in Texas.  Cory Joseph was a highly rated prospect in high school, but he didn’t play well during his freshman season in Texas.  I hope Kabongo would turn out better.

 I think Marquise Teague is a better prospect then Kabongo and Irving.  I also think Maalik Waynes is going to due his Kemba Walker next year only he’s actually stronger, faster, and a hands down better passer then Kemba Walker.

I’m probably gonna get negatives for saying that just like I got negatives for putting Kemba Walker on my top ten National Player of Year Candidate 2 months before he blew the doors off the Maui invitational.  I also got hated on for saying Alec Burks might be in the running if Colorado could make the tourney and was gonna be a lotto pick.  I told people Jimmer was going to turn into the media darling of the nation which is exactly what happened.  And I also got mad hate for saying Perry Jones should of went one before the NCAA season began and that he was better then Harrison Barnes.  And Jones did put up better numbers then Barnes up until tourney time it still would of been up in the air who would of went higher.  

Personally I think Perry, and Terrence Jones are retarded for going back to school.  Terrence got to compete with Davis and Gilchrist who play both the forwards spots he plays so I don’t know how he’s gonna adjust.  And Quincy Miller is a way better player then Perry Jones and plays virtually the same positions.  Both of them players should of left and would of been top 10 picks this year.  Only way Perry improves his stock is if he get’s his T-Mac on and just becomes a highleet reel.

Had Bledsoe stayed for his sophomore year he would of been a lotto pick this year.  Evan Turner would of probably been he consenus number one pick in this draft.  Favors would of been top 3 still, but GTech was a bad school for him to display his talents.

But Mcadoo is a stud, Brad Beal is a pro, Gilchrist is the intangibles superstar  Anthony Davis is probably the first pick but he needs to add weight……the list goes on this is a strong freshman class.  

Prediction:  Quincy Miller will be the first pick next year.

Irving would fall because next year the much hyped freshmen that will be lottery picks before they ever step onto a college floor will be much better than last year’s "year of the freshman" hyped class? This will be the year where everybody transitions perfectly? 2012 will be the year where a guy who led his high school team to a 8-15 record his junior year and 6-19 as a senior will undoubtedly show in one college season that he will have what it takes to transform a losing NBA team into a winner?

 I don’t see Quincy Miller being all that good.  bit over hyped IMO. As for Kabongo vs. Irving. I’m gonna go with Irving even though I like Kabongo more. Kabongo is way skinnier and could potentially have a lot of trouble breaking stronger/longer defenders off the dribble. Reminds me of a more flashy Darren Collison. At the very least Irving will be an Andre Miller type. At best he’s CP3. 

Kabongo is at best a Rondo and at worst out of the League. He’s no guarantee. And I also agree that Teague is just as good of a prospect and that Wayns could potentially end up better.

This draft might look weak but if you do yur homework this draft isnt weak at all. If you look at numbers at the combine kemba walker measures and tests out just as good as chris paul if not better and the argument is he doesnt pass that well but thats not true he was forced to score but people will see. Also derrick williams measures about same size as blake griffin with a one inch difference in vert and i remember griffins college career being alot like williams average freshman year elite eight sophmore. This draft also has some really good point guards im willing to bet selby in two years is on par with jrie holiday. Also i think brandon knight is the best pg in this draft because he reminds me of a young deron williams he might not be the best out of the gate but two three years down line who nows. Then theres the unknown versatile big men but well get an idea of players hopefully in summer leagues and then season. I think the key for this draft is draft for need because of unknowns and hope u get it right.

Kemba Walker is a beast.  Derrick Williams is good, but yeah he kinda came out of nowhere.  During the tournament I read that his recruiting battle came down to Arizona and Memphis, and I had forgotten about that.  If the Cavs draft right they could end up with both those players who are, to me, the most impressive players out there. 

Kyrie Irving should be a good player, but is he the best point guard in this class?  Not sure.  You could probably flip a coin and pick between Irving, Walker, and Knight.  I wouldn’t even say that Irving will win a team more games than Jimmer would.  Would Irving fare that much better in the vertical than Jimmer did?  Doubt it.  How about agility?  Doubt it.  Oh, and Jimmer is a pretty good 3 point shooter.
