GreenLanternParticipantHere is a list of things that are certain to go down on June 25th and people should adjust to these near facts:
Blake Griffin will be drafted #1 overall and signed by the L.A. Clippers ASAP.
Memphis will trade the #2 selection
The Wizards will trade down or out of the lottery.
The Knicks will have a very good draft and will have their point of the future (Rubio, Flynn, Curry, or Holiday). They can’t lose because their fan base will be happy with any of those.
Hansborough, Teague, Mullens, and Daye will all go top 20. (This isn’t about whether they SHOULD go that high, but it’s no secret these prospects are rising up draft boards, not falling.)
The Pistons are trading down or out of the first round, unless a MAJOR surprise happens with a top-10 prospect somehow falls that low. They want cap space for TWO max-level contract free agents.
With a ton of assets at their disposal, and no real chance to address their needs with the 16th selection, the Bulls will NOT stay put on draft day. They will end up with either an impact veteran added to their team, or a pick 5 or more spots higher than 16.
Someone will buy a pick in the first round because there are teams that don’t really want their pick (New Orleans), and teams with multiple selections in a sluggish economy (1st rounders’ contracts are guaranteed). Not to mention the many teams rumored to be looking to buy a pick (Spurs, Nuggs, Knicks, etc)
Of course there are more things that will transpire on June 25th, but this a list with things that are more certain for one reason or another. I can’t wait for this draft.

RemarqParticipantI’m not sold on Memphis trading their pick, but I like the rest of it.

GreenLanternParticipantWho or what do you see Memphis doing with the #2 and the aftermath Remarq?

auberParticipantMemphis will trade down to 4 and get compensation with the 4. Wether it be Dontre Greene and picks or Jason Thompson.

RemarqParticipantI suppose they might trade down for a cheap role player and another lottery pick.

JayRadParticipantI have been skeptical as to whether or not teams will sell their first rounders. Businessmen understand the economic climate, but if teams like New Orleans give up an opportunity at a solid rotation player that could elevate their team, a la Thornton, their fan will not tolerate it. I know I wouldn’t renew my season ticket prices if I was a fan of a mid-tiered team with no chance at getting better. Phoenix is still living through the bad press related to trading away picks for cap-space, and they were doing so to maintain a championship calibre team. I think that we are beginning to see a trend towards absolute fiscal responsibility as opposed to winning games. As fans, and not businessmen, we should not tolerate our teams giving away assets. If you cannot afford a franchise then please sell it off to someone who can. Demand more from your ownership.

GreenLanternParticipantauber your proposal of a thompson deal for the #2 confirms you are obviously a grizzly fan because only they would come up with that my man! lol! You know thompson is a budding star. There is absolutely no way in @$%& thompson, hawes, or martin get traded right now.

auberParticipantI’ve been hearing his name around in a 2-4 swap. I honestly think it’s going to happen like this;
Sacarmento Gets;
Darko Milicic
Rights to Ricky RubioMemphis Gets;
Kenny Thomas
Donte Green
Rights to Jordan Hill
and either the #23 or #31I don’t see Martin or Hawes moving, but I think out of the three they’d trade Thompson first. If we can get Thompson in a 2-4 Swap we take Tyreke Evans and Play Mayo at the Point and try and trade Mike Conley and draft a serviceable backup point guard with either the 23,27,31, or 36 depending on how that trade goes.

BriguyParticipantI Hope the Kings make a trade similar to this… Not including the 23/31 picks though, KT and DGreen for Darko and the number 2 seems fair trade value … Well maybe … D Green has some scary potential
have to do some homework to see the Cash value matching of Darko and KT+DGreen to even see if it would work…..

auberParticipantIt does. The grizzlies are loaded with cap and they add maybe 2 mil onto their salary if that.

BriguyParticipantI believe KT is 8.9 or close to that .. where does Darko sit… I say if he is near that then it makes sense… otherwise for Memphis seems kinda pointless ( for 2010 cap space) … unless Grizz plan on giving him some minutes ….
Still don’t know why KT is sitting cause last I recalled KT and Petrie got along just fine my guess is its a KT/Maloof issue..
I just assume another team will offer up more than Sacramento…. Also giving up Thompson would leave Sacramento with no front court what so ever…. Diogu is a restricted FA, Doesnt mean he will resign …….Sacramento has Zilch behind Hawes as well …

jcjParticipantI think KT’s salary is around 8-9M, while Darko is at 7+. That works out in a trade and saves the Kings money. As for KT not playing, I believe he’s already damaged goods. As an undersized 4, he needed all the athleticism and hustle just to be average. I don’t think he has any issues with management – at this point in his career, he just isn’t good enough to play anymore.

marcusfizer21ParticipantIs it possible for the Chicago Bulls to trade their 16th or 26th pick to the Clippers in exchange for unproven and raw talent like DeAndre Jordan? I am very much upbeat about this idea because a guy like DeAndre can definitely give the Bulls a much needed size underneath. What do you think? Derrick Rose teaming up with Jordan would be a compliment to both of their skills.

Tim49461ParticipantDisagree 1000% with you on the pistons……i know your trying to be a guru and all but wake up dude your a average joe. Do you not realize that joe dumars made a name for himself on draft day, Tayshaun Prince, Stuckey, Affalo, Amir, He is known for finding guys and with the 15th pick again. he will keep his pick or trade up.

THUNDERstruckParticipanti actually think the knicks have a pretty good chance of getting a trade done with the grizzlies, since the grizzlies have a lot of cap i think the knicks could
sign and trade lee, maybe robinson and like the 8 for the number 2 and hakim warrick?
idk just a though0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/09/2009 - 9:05pm #159684

0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/10/2009 - 2:41am #159715
HueBoND 2001ParticipantThat kings trade is the most feasible to happen. Donte Green has way better potential than jason thompson who looks like he will be good but max out to a Joe smith with a jump shot. Donte will be a good bench player or could come off as the PF in dantonio type system
WORD TO DONTE GREEN CAN U PLEASE PLAY DEFENSE every knows u can score 50…
Trade down the 4 pick and get a couple of role players and the late 1st and 2nd.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/10/2009 - 2:49am #159717

GreenLanternParticipantWhy would Memphis want Greene, a player who doesn’t play defense (which is a weakness on the Grizz) and is only interested in shooting jumpers at 6-10? Memphis has WAY better offers on the table right now than anything Sac is willing to offer. I’d love Memphis to get a top 5 pick too guys, but the only way that is going to happen is if they keep the pick.
