WolfRisingParticipantHe is scaring me so far. The wolves play slow because the starters know they are going 40 minutes. The starters don’t run back in transition because they’re gassed and dont get benched. He is doing the hockey line shifts when the bench comes in and they get destroyed. He was a pg whisperer in Chicago, but rubio and dunn look pretty bad. I know it’s early, but not what i wanted to see.

festar35ParticipantHe rumored to be looking at moving his young assets for more veteran talent, to me that is likely to be Lavine and Dunn along with pick.
Here is a trade very few will agree with, but I think is fair given the fact PG13 seems to be hating it in Indiana. (Just watch him and the team when he is on the court, he is not motivated)
Lavine, Dunn, Lottery protected 2017 first rounder and salary for PG13 and Aaron Brooks.
Now for Minesota they get a perennial All-Star who when motivated is a top 15 talent and he wins games to join Rubio, Wiggins, Dieng and KAT. Brooks is still a very effective scorer and can run an offense, could turn him into a contender very quickly and I don’t see motivation as a problem.
Indiana can move forward with Turner, Lavine (who could become a very effective scoring option), Dunn and more than likely a high-lottery pick as they wouldn’t win a lot of games this year. Teague could walk at end of year and Dunn take over.

WolfRisingParticipantAs a wolves fan, i would take that. I think people will get after you because trading superstars is a tough business. Lavine is going to cost a fortune. Dunn has looked a lot more like a rookie at 22 than i thought he would.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantI just hope Thibs doesn’t give up a young piece for an really old vet that is average now though-Like a Deng(overpaid esp at 70+ mill),Noah who has no offensive game,Taj-who needs to get paid soon and could be gotten in F.A…
I think Rubio or Shabazz probably want out(Tyus could also due to no mins for him)..They seem the most like to be disgrunteled of all the T-wolves young Players. Who wants them and what for would be the question?
Towns,Wiggins,Lavine all seem like they want to be there and seem to like the Fact Thibs may take them to that next level..
As for your trade Idea I could see it working: But would prefer to keep Dunn and give up Rubio instead, due to Dunn being able to play more uptempo which works to the young cores strength..
So Something Like this:
Lavine,Rubio and a protected pick for PG and ABrooks Indianna get younger with Lavine,a pick and a cheaper locked in for a longer deal than teague that can be either kept or passed onto another team for something else..If Teague is your guy that is..
The only risks with the above trade though:
1)Paul georges health and being motivated(judging by your description)
2)Will PG accept this is Towns and Wiggins team?
and
3)Town and Wiggins are ready to take that next jump(Really soon). If you don’t think they are you hold off on this move for now due to not fitting the team timeline.
If PG can handle both 1+2 and 3 happens: A starting lineup of KAT,Dieng,PG,Wiggins and Dunn is pretty nice and could actually have a nice shot of making the playoffs.
As for contending that would have to be done next off season once they have finished rounding out there bench. Maybe a better Pf?Mo speights or Taj at reasonable price next off season maybe? As Belicia seems like he is being used as SF…As a Bench of Cole,ABrooks,Belicia,Rush is just missing that last piece to pull it all together..Would make this team pretty deep and really fun to watch.

binetParticipantWith how bad Dunn has started his rookie year and his age for a prospect (nearly a year older than Giannis) I think his value has dropped to pretty much worthless (about Thomas Robinson’s value when traded his rookie year…Same kind of disappointing junior lottery picks), LaVine has value because he is a fan favorite but he is nowhere near the all star / team USA caliber kind of guy Paul George is, even his ceiling is lower than that. And you only would add a lottery protected pick?
I think to make this deal you would need not only one but probably 2 or more unproetected 1st rounders.
I think Boston would be ready to give something between Brown+ 1 BKN picks and Brown + both BKN picks for PG-13 easily.
I also think you could have a decent trade involving the sixers (but with Turner has your primary prospects welcoming another Center is not really a good idea)…
I think the Lakers would also give a decent to great package for PG.
A bad LaVine/PG swap seems like a very unrealistic Minnesota dream like the Okafor/Devin Booker dreams I heard this summer from Philly fans.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI dunno about that. Paul George plays the same position as Wiggins. Seems foolish to give up some young core pieces to try to make the playoffs. They will be just fine.

HitsterParticipantI don’t see Thibs ripping it up yet, if he’d wanted more experience then he could have flipped the Dunn pick or made a play for an experienced FA in the summer. With KG and Kevin Martin retired could their nominal salaries be used in a trade to a team looking to cut salaries as they would not effectively have to pay those guys.
We assume KAT and Wiggins are core building points. Rubio has quite a cap friendly deal, Dunn and Lavine are on rookie deals. Dieng is on the last year of his rookie oneso is very cap friendly this year too.
If the starters aren;’t producing the goods then surely Thibs looks to his bench more but I wonder does he have confidence in the bench depth he has.

BiggysmallsParticipantI’d take PG on the Wolves in a heartbeat. Like Lavine and Dunn but George is like 26. He could be gone after next year but if they have some sort of stipulation set that he’s sticking around, that’s a no-brainer.
Couple comments above that I want to comment on.
1. Paul George is a top-10 NBA player right now. This would become his team. KAT and Wiggins are good young players, but if people think George would need to come in and accept a role as a "third" guy…they are either really dumb or way too invested in the young Wolves.
2. Paul George and Wiggins play the same position yes: Wing. They both play on the wing. This isn’t NBA 2k17 where you have to have a SG and a SF. There’s almost no difference between the positions and George can guard all wings. We want Wiggins to be able to guard all wings too. For the life of me I don’t understand why people continue to confuse this SG-SF position concept. They are wings.
Its a fun thought but I highly doubt Indiana would ever move George anyways.
The Wolves need vets but they don’t necessarily need to blow it up. They needed to go get a guy like Dudley or Afflalo in the offseason and maybe a PF that could either move Dieng to that 3rd big spot or come off the bench for 18-22 minutes a game. Solid vets who provide production. They aren’t getting any of that right now from guys like Rush/Aldrich/Hill and Rubio has been terrible in Thibs’ offense because he needs to monopolize the ball.

IndianaBasketballParticipantBiggysmalls brought up THE key point, which is the fact that Paul George is a free-agent after next season.
And I don’t see George agreeing to anything before taking a look at his options during free-agency. As a matter of fact, I don’t see George wanting to go to Minnesota period, even though they do have two great young players in Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins.
Let’s be honest here… George is from the Los Angeles area. He grew up a Lakers fan. He’s a die hard Kobe Bryant fan. He’s very into marketing himself and wants to be in a bigger market. A trade to the Lakers makes the most sense. Another place I think he would *possibly* consider is Boston.
And let’s not be so quick to say George hates it in Indianapolis. He’s adjusting to new teammates, doesn’t really like playing without two bigs in the lineup and I think he’s been playing hurt. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been dealing with this back soreness since the start of the season. According to reports, he held a team only meeting after the last practice and addressed a lot of issues with the team. That seems like he’s embracing a leadership role, not trying to get out.

BiggysmallsParticipantPaul George is one of my 3 or 4 favorite players in the league right now. I feel like Indiana is right in that everything is setting up for him to go to LA in the next couple seasons. Which means inevitably that I must then not like him anymore. It’s just in my DNA to turn on guys in LA. It’s the underdog Minnesotan in me, I won’t apologize for it.

binetParticipantPaul George is not coming to Minnesota anyway but you should know that he is not a UCLA graduate who literally said "F*** ME!" when drafted to Minny.
2/3 years of PG seems way better than 2 years of LaVine to me.
Anyway, Indiana is never going to accept an offer like the one above.

BiggysmallsParticipantLavine will be in Minny at least another 6 years barring a trade.
So will Wiggins.
So will Towns. Actually Towns will be here another 8 most likely barring a trade.
