high floorParticipantThe Orlando Magic are a train wreck. 4.5 years into their rebuild and I’ve never had less confidence that this team is going to develop into an above average team in the EC. The following will never happen, but it should. Orlando needs to sell off several of their assets (i.e Payton, Vucevic, Ibaka… maybe more) and rebuild again with new management in their Front Office. It’s impossible for me to imagine that a Frank Vogel coached team is 20th in defensive efficiency that features Serge Ibake & Bismack Biyombo!! Combined with their ineptitude on offense, it’s just sad.
Maybe I’m wrong on the upcoming analysis below, but I absolutely hate Aaron Gordon playing the SF position. He’s had a couple moments, but overall he has been dreadful. Every time I watch Elfrid Payton I get depressed knowing that Orlando management hoped he would develop into some type of Ricky Rubio/John Wall hybrid when they coughed up an additional 1st during the 2014 draft for him. There are so many talented guards in this upcoming class & I would kill for one of the top guys over Payton. Mario Hezonja is averaging 8 per game…. 8 MINUTES THAT IS!!!! Holy crap, who saw that coming this year?? He has completely lost his confidence that many were touting was his greatest asset. I’m not even sure what his trade value is now, but IMO they should keep him after they sell off their veterans to at least see what he can do in 25+ minutes per game.
So yeah… Orlando doesn’t have the guts to do it. But this team currently constructed is going absolutely nowhere & I believe more fans would agree to a 2nd rebuild than ownership may think. If they don’t, then I just can’t watch this team anymore. It’s just pitiful, un-entertaining basketball at it’s lowest.

r377ParticipantI was scratching my head when they got both Ibaka and Biyombo.
I also don’t know why they got rid of Dipo – did they say they wanting better outside shooting. He shot 48% and 35% which is pretty respectable especially since Payton is a career 29% 3 point shooter.
2014 draft they took Gordon @ 4. Most of us had Julius Randle going @ 4. Randle has been very good lately, even triple doubled last week….
They knew Hezonja played with a chip on his shoulder, he has been benched enough. He needs minutes

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantGordon has actually been playing very well as of late, even though I agree wholeheartedly that he should primarily be playing the four, difficult to do that when you have ibaka, biyombo and vucevic on your roster though. Hezonja needs to be given an opportunity at least. It’s hard to really evaluate him because he is playing so little. I still have no idea why they signed Jeff green. One of the biggest head-scratchers of the summer to me.
