Harpring Could Be Leaning Towards Retirement

    Sep 07, 2009 7:12 AM EST
Matt Harpring plans to discuss his future with Jazz very soon.

He admitted a couple of months ago that he wasn’t sure his body could handle another season, something the Deseret News says he told the team privately right after the 2008-09 season ended.

“I haven’t talked to the Jazz yet,” Harpring said Sunday.

The forward will return to Utah later this week and plans to sit down with the Jazz early next week to make a decision on his NBA future.

There appears to be a strong possibility that he could opt for retirement. He is set to make $6.5 million this season.

    Warrick Wants Opportunity To Start

    Sep 07, 2009 7:18 AM EST
Hakim Warrick knows that he has a chance to start for the Bucks, an opportunity that has motivated him.

Warrick signed a one-year, $3 million deal with Milwaukee after Memphis withdrew their qualifying offer to the forward. He averaged 21.4 minutes per games over the first four years of his career, all of which were spent with the Grizzlies.

“That’s something that motivates me,” Warrick told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “When I get consistent minutes, I’ve shown I can go out there and produce. Coming here, I want to show my consistency, be out there on the floor and help this team win.”

Warrick could see time at both small and power forward with the Bucks.

“That’s something I talked to coach (Scott Skiles) about before coming in, and he said he could see me doing that,” Warrick admitted. “That’s something we’ll continue to work on and see how it goes.”

He added that his main focus this offseason has been improving his mid-range jump shot.

“Coming in (the NBA) as a rookie, I really didn’t have that shot,” he said. “I came out in the summer and really worked on that. I think I’ve shown a lot of improvement over the last three years.
    that shot.”

I’m not going to be able to out-jump everybody and be physically stronger than most of them, so you need that shot.”
