This is an extreme example of what is wrong with today’s media. The only good thing about this piece is the opinion and skew is so blatant and obvious people realize it BS. Most media is this way, just not this apparent. This is about how the Isaiah Thomas Jarryd Bayless incident yesterday is Demarcus Cousins fault. probasketballtalk.nbcsports by Brett Pollakoff.

This is yet another example of why you don’t give a max contract to a player with the temperament ofDeMarcus Cousins without the presence of any veterans on the roster to help with the team’s leadership. But this is only about him tangentially, so we’ll revisit this in a moment.

Late in the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ blowout win over the Kings on Friday, Sacramento’s Isaiah Thomasgot into it with Boston’s Jerryd Bayless. It was a ridiculous incident that was completely unnecessary, and also one that was entirely Thomas’ fault.

After Bayless fell, Thomas stood over him for an extra few seconds, preventing Bayless from standing up. Bayless gave Thomas a shove, and Thomas overreacted to the point where the two needed to be separated by their respective teammates. . . . .. .

It sounds like there may be some history here, at least in Thomas’ eyes. And as it’s always worth noting anytime players go at each other, some things may have gone on during the game that we simply didn’t see.

But getting back to Cousins, he’s the team’s best player and face of the franchise, given both his level of talent and that huge contract. He’s continually shown a propensity to get into these kinds of situations and then keep it going with silly comments afterward, most recently calling the Bulls’ Mike Dunleavy a “clown” in continuing to hold a grudge for an incident that occurred last season.

The Kings as an organization let Cousins behave this way without repercussion, so Thomas has no reason to believe that he can’t do the same. Sacramento, by the way, lost to a Celtics team playing without Rajon Rondo, and trailed by as many as 18 points.

Thomas shot 9-of-23 from the field and finished with 24 points in 39 minutes. Bayless, meanwhile, was a very efficient 7-of-9 in getting his 19 points in just 18 minutes off the bench.

I don’t know why you were negged twice in a row, you actually make a good point. I saw the game and that incident had nothing to do with Cousins. It seems like he’s being roasted off his reputation alone now. The guy went 31/16/3 shooting 57% from the field. The Kings gave up their depth to accquire Gay, so when he isn’t there it seems like they are often playing 2 on 5 instead of 3 on 5. One of them has to be on the floor at all times to prevent the team from falling behind because of players like Travis Outlaw, and the less than stellar Jason Thompson. That incident has nothing to do with Cousins at all, and it feels as if this article was just another attempt to jab at th him but ended in poor taste.

As for Dunleavy, he’s always trying to get in Cousins head with dirty tactics. Its a very viable tactic since Cousins can at times lose focus on what really matters. But the Kings still won the game in dominating fashion. That article is absolute trash, and biased to the point of absurdity.

I had to read it more than once to make sure I got the message right. I’m no fan of Cousins, not by a long shot, but this article is embarrassing.

This writer clearly has an issue with Cousins. I haven’t seen a stretch this far in a long time.

This is like guilty by association, except the only association Cousins had was being on the same team…ridiculous.

I doubt this guy will have a job much longer, NBC should be embarassed.
