justin22443ParticipantA few observations from last nights game.
Gilbert looked pretty good out there, he had 18 points in limited minutes. There was a point in the 4th quarter where he got hot and he started to get that hibachi look in his eye like he wanted to take over but the team decided to run the offense through john wall instead.
I love john wall, i think he’s going to be special. but if gilbert can play anything like he did last night all season, then i really think the wiz should run the offense through him at least half the time when he and wall are on the court at the same time. wall is not that great in the half court set, and even though he may be the quickest point guard in the nba, hes very out of control.
and as a side note, kirk hinrich is starting to really tick me off because he has missed just about every wide open jumper hes shot. and as for yi…..yeah i f**king hate that guy

justin22443Participant…oh and we need to trade nick young for whatever we can get, he just is not working with this team. i think he would strive in a run and gun offense like phoenix or new york

WizardofOzParticipantGil was ON FIRE in the 4th quarter! He looked very much like his old self in the 4th quarter.
John Wall played well in in the 1st half, but he played SLOPPY, especially late in the game. He was VERY out of control. It’s okay though. It was a "growing pains" game for him. I still don’t think he’s in sync with all his teammates. Remember, this is young team and Wall can’t play well every night if he doesn’t have the smartest players around him.
Andray Blatche was ON FIRE in the 1st quater, shooting 7-7 from the field and scoring 16 points, but he faded late. He definitely lost stamina. He wasn’t even trying to contest shots on defense. He admitted that he still isn’t in his ideal playing shape coming off the boken foot, and as he gets into better shape, he shouldn’t fade like that.
Kirk Hinrich had a BAD game. The Wizards may have gotten him 2 years too late. He missed some open shots, and I am not seeing the lockdown defender people were saying he was in Chicago. He struggles against quicker guards, and was even struggling to guards spot-up shooters. On offense, he overdribbles and isn’t good at creating plays. He’s a PG by name, but he should strictly play SG.
What baffles me is why Flip Saunders went to zone defense late when the Knicks have all these great shooters???

justin22443ParticipantYeah, let wall do his thing but when he starts to get sloppy just let gil isolate or run the offense. and i feel exactly the same way about hinrich and blatche. blatche was schooling amare to start the game, i hope he can keep it up.

delfamParticipantWizards need some role players that’ll do the dirty work, all their players think their all-stars and need the ball in their hand. John Wall is a good building block but those other guys(including Gilbert) aren’t doing much.

delfamParticipanttheir not doing much to help the team, most of the guys on that team think their the go to guy(Wall,Arenas,Blatche,Thornton), I just think they need role players which they really don’t have, atleast not in their minds.

justin22443Participantwell, arenas should be the go to guy as far as scoring is concerned, i mean yeah he might not have played in awhile but this is still a guy who puts up over 20 points a game consistantly without much effort. it doesn’t look as if he wants to take the ball out of john wall’s hands so i dont think he will be much of a problem. blatche is off again on again and i agree with thornton, he hustles but takes dumb shots and plays out of his element.

delfamParticipantWe’ll see what Wall is made of now that Arenas is playing, will he be able to lower his scoring a little to get Arenas involved? It should be interesting to see how Wall’s game develop with Arenas, weither he becomes a pass first guy now or still looks for his shot.

sheltwon3ParticipantIt is still early with the Wiz. They may get Howard back in a month. Wall needs to get used to his new teammates. Arenas is getting back in the groove. I do think Nick Young needs to be traded because right now the Wiz don’t know how to utilize him or have the system to get the most from him. Also Hinrich does not seem to fit well with this team. He should be moved as well. Maybe to Miami. He would be an upgrade over Arroyo and maybe Lebron, Wade and Bosh can get better games from him than what he is showing. The Wiz need to figure out who is good to stay on this team and who they should move before their stock drops.
Wall, Blatche, Mcgee and either Howard/ Thornton seem like locks for the future. Arenas will eventually be moved maybe in a year or so when contract has ben downsized a little and he deal is not as long. Yi Lian is solid but I don’t how much value he has as a role player on this team.

delfamParticipantThornton,McGee, and Blatche all think their studs though, they all want the ball and that’s the problem, a team needs role players to win championships. If I was Washington I’d trade one of them while their value is still high cause Wall is the future.

Meditated StatesParticipantbeing Wall. Arenas is the more explosive scorer in halfcourt sets. He is the streak shooter. Wall should make Arenas scoring go up and easier. If he is who he is suppose to be thats how it should work. Be a pass first point guard. He can get 18 to 20 when needed. Don’t turn into a glory hog and feed your scoring machine.

stanford hoopsWall has already said he wants to be a pass first point guard and he only scores more because he has to just like rose. You’re point guard should think pass first score second. If you’re point guard is thinking score first you won’t get to far because he’s not getting everyone involved
