Report are that the Wizards want Greg Monroe…

    http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/20/report-washington-wizards-want-greg-monroe/

It’s interesting to see what the wizards are offering…Porter? Ariza? Gortat?

As for Detroit, I still think that Detroit would be better getting Afflalo and would be the perfect fit in Detroit.(again) at SG… And they can get a better offer for a SF for Monroe than the Wizards have to offer.

Joe Dumars needs to go. I understand he put the 2004 championship team together, but that was so long ago. He is continually mismanaging his roster and coaching staff. His track record is poor and it starts with his selection of Darko in the 2003 draft. From there, he has constantly made questionable decisions that have backfired and kept his team from improving. Remember when he traded for Allen Iverson? How did that decision pan out? What about giving huge contracts to Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. Or, the selection of Brandon Knight in the 2011 draft. Granted that draft turned out to be a crap shoot, but the selection never panned out.

He has had some recent success with his selections of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond, however, he ruined the chemistry and potential of the roster by once again handing out huge contracts to the likes of Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings. Both players while very talented, are known as inefficent shot chuckers who do not play within the team concept. If Dumars goes through with rumor and trades Monroe to the Wizards for Otto Porter or Trevor Ariza, this will backfire on him from choosing Monroe over Josh Smith. Josh Smith is the player that needs to go. Drummond and Monroe have not been given enough time to see how they would develop together and this trade would further put his team back.

Do not make this trade with the Wizards!

Dumars is a twit. We should have stood pat, signed no one, develpoed the team, and kept building through the draft. Smith was a horrible signing.

The Celtics are rumored to be looking to unload Jeff Green. As a Celtics fan I would do something like:

Bos Out: Jeff Green, Keith Bogans

Bos In: Marcin Gortat, Rodney Stucky

Det Out: Greg Monroe, Rodney Stucky

Det In: Jeff Green, Martel Webster

Was Out: Marcin Gortat, Martel Webster

Was In: Greg Monroe, Keith Bogans, Clippers 2015′ 1sr round Pick

It’s just a quick trade I did on ESPN, and think it would help all teams involved. Celtics get out of Green’s contract, and get the center they always wanted in Gortat. Bogans has asked to be traded as well, that that would be a wash. It also allows them to start Wallace and hopefully showcase him while "tanking." I would also suspect Bass to be shipped out before this happens too.

The Pistons get some good athletic shooters who are both on reasonable contracts. Green would be a nice player to pair next to Smith and Drummond, and Webster would help spread the floor as well. This would give them time to develope KCP a little longer, and would give them a dynamic lineup full of athletes.

The Wizards give up the most, but they also get back the best player. Monroe is a rare combination of height, youth, and talent, and in todays NBA that is pretty hard to come by. He’s going to get paid this summer, but with Ariza coming off the books and Otto Porter waiting to fill that void, I think they can afford to spend a little.

I don’t know, I don’t like doing fake trades, and I still think the Pistons should look to unload Smith before Moose.

So you’re saying that Washington gives up the most? I’d say in your scenario that Detroit gives up the most. Monroe – young up and coming C/PF, Stuckey – expiring 8.5M contract, performing well in 6th man role. Washington gets the best player in the trade AND a first round pick? If you gave Detroit the clippers first round pick then you might be closer to the mark but honestly, I don’t think this trade would be done by any team other than Washington.

I was going to make a thread about Greg Monroe. There is prob 80-90% chance that if he hasn’t signed his extension now the Pistons will lose him in the off season.

    Just a few ideas I had…………………………….

wizards- Nene is getting older and is a bit injury prone so would make sense for the Wizrards. Wizards are logged jammed at SF. They are at .500 virtually without Otto Porter. Trading Porter or Webster and Singleton or Booker might be ok for the Pistons and for the Wizards they should be the third seed in the east with Monroe.

Minnesota – are under 500 and something is not right there at the moment. Kevin Love contract expires end of next season and would be highly unlikely to re-sing with the Wolves. Maybe Monroe and another asset (Stuckey/draft pick) might be looked at for Love who has a history of getting injured. Maybe even a Rubio and Love for Jennings and Monroe might be looked at. The Pistons might need to add another piece (stuckey/bynum or draft pick)

Orlando – Two of the next three players – Big Baby, Harkless, Tobias Harris could work for both teams (especially if Orlando snag Parker or Wiggins in the draft)

Cleveland – Two of the following players: Thompson/Deng/Waiters. Pistons might need to throw in Stuckey or a draft pick. Thompson and Waiters for Monroe and Stuckey would work for both teams (remember Pistons were looking at Thompson in the 2011 draft) Irving, Stuckey and Jack would be a decent back court for the Cavs with Deng/Monroe/Andy V upfront.

Bucks – Henson or Ilysova and Gary Neal or Middleton (the Pistons prob would of taken Henson in the 2012 draft had Drummond been not available)

Golden State – maybe Harrison Barnes or David Lee and Ezili (who i think is a decent backup C) for Monroe.

Rockets – Terrance Jones and Monti for Monroe.

Celtics – Jeff Green and Sullinger or Olynyk for Monroe. Maybe somtehing extra for Rondo/Jennings might be added if the Celtics feel brave…. Rondo and Green/Sullinger/Olynyk for Monroe and Jennings.

Denver – Maybe one of Gallanari/Chandler/Faried and one of Fournier/Hamilton/Quincey Miller for Monroe.

I could see Galinari being a good fit especially with his shooting opening the lanes for Smith and Jennings and space down low for Monroe. The only thing is he won’t help them until next year, and I really think they want to make the playoffs this year after spending all that money, nevermind the amazing draft that’s coming up (they have tons of talent, talent certainly isn’t the issue). Monroe is an upgrade over every big Denver has, and he can play both PF and C so he can spend some time along side Hickson, Farried and McGee (although I would trade Farried at that point since he has more value than Hickson and McGee is virtually unmoveable at this point until he pulls his head out of his ass and starts blocking shots again and rebounding.

I don’t think Chandler is enough, and neither is Farried who also wouldn’t fit at all.

I don’t think the wizards have good enough pieces to trade for Monroe straight up. There best bet is RFA.

I feel like if they trade him it’ll be for a mix of picks and young unproven players with maybe a crappy contract thrown in, depending on how good the picks/young players are – as opposed to for another player of equal value.

The only other player I can think of would be Evan Turner (and there would still probably some 2nd rounders or cheap players being exchanged). The 76ers will need scoring down low next to Noel next year, as well as someone who can play both PF and C incase Noel goes down again and forces everyone else to play extended minutes.

Turner is a guy who’s having a fantastic year (statistically) who is athletic enough to play with that uptempo Pistons team ( I assume they would pick up the pace sans-Monroe with Smith at the 4) and is actually a pretty damn good play maker for a forward (hence being touted as a point-forward out of College) and a very scrappy rebounder. He would more than replace Monroe’s scoring plus everyone else would play better with more room to operate.

Again I’m not saying they should necessarily do this, but of all the scenarios I’ve been able to come up with so far this one makes the most sense for both teams involved.

I can see the pistons record improving just like Toronto’s after the Gay trade. They need to get rid of them and let Monroe and Drummond try to develop together. Dump them to the lakers for their crap, kobe won’t put up with their bs. Or trade Smith for Ariza and expirings. Monroe is one of the only few things he has done right since getting a ring now he wants to trade him is comical.
